Chapter 8 - Dinner

Chloe asked out of nowhere, "You live alone, right? Do you cook ?"

"I don't know how to cook.", said Arthur while remembering that he hadn't eaten anything since he transmigrated.

"Let's go get dinner, my treat. " Chloe suggested joyfully.

Seeing Arthur hesitating, Chloe said "You take me out to dinner after you get settled in properly in return. "

Arthur was still hesitant but couldn't refuse after he saw Chloe being excited, "Fine, as you wish. Just the two of us?"

Chloe joked, " I know you would like that but we can't just leave those two lovebirds and go, can we?"

Both laughed. Arthur agreed to it so Chloe called Nadine without any delay. Afterward, they met up with Nadine and Ludwig, Ludwig was still shocked how Arthur got along with Chloe so well.

They had a nice meal while chatting about their lives. They all exchange numbers and decided to go to university together. After saying their goodbyes, they all headed home. Uncle Myers had told Ludwig to go home early but he got held back because of the dinner so Ludwig just rushed home. Arthur dropped by Uncle Myers' shop to pick up items he had left there this afternoon. Arthur also went to a clothing shop to get prepared for tomorrow and the days to come.

At the end of the day, he bought all the necessities and still had about 3000 credits and he thought, "I should save this since I don't know how jobs work here or what kinds of job there are." He got home at about 8 pm. Since he still had time, he decided to check out the map through his phone.

"Z-city? It looks rather big for a city. The people who named it seem pretty lazy too. The university isn't too far away from my apartment." he thought out loud.

Arthur suddenly remembered something and thought about 'the store'. A familiar interface popped up.

The lowest-priced item was a weird looking blue orb which cost 1000 chaos points. As he got lower down the list, the prices started looking absurdly high like 1mil for a sword. He didn't have a single chaos point to his name.

"I guess this somehow still exists," said Arthur while closing it.

"I should settle in properly first before anything."

He started looking through information about Z-city on the internet. Cities in this world were the size of countries and the countries didn't exist. A king-like figure led a city so it could also be called a kingdom. The neighboring cities were V-city, W-city, X-city, and Y-city. There we also other landmasses other than these 5 cities which were quite far from these cities. They were City-1, City-2, City-3, City-4, and City-5. The lands looked like they were man-made considering how symmetrical everything was.

He tried searching for why these city names were so weird and he found out something interesting. The numbered cities were purely technology-based so one couldn't find more than 5 elementals in a city. Whereas the alphabetical cities were magic-based, so the technology in these cities could be considered mediocre at best compared to the numbered cities. Many wars had taken place for the oceanic territory since the landmasses were so limited but as recent as 10 years ago, a treaty was signed for peace. The citizens were still hostile against each other but big battles didn't happen at all. The treaty was eerily effective.

After taking in all the info, Arthur decided to sleep to be better prepared for tomorrow.
