Chereads / Her Mafia / Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

I had only been walking through the streets for a couple minutes but I had already received many looks from people and even one little girl came up to me. When I played it back in my head, I just now realized how cute the little exchange we had was.

"When I'm older, I wanna join your mafia group!"

"And why is that?"

"Because I heard.. That you take in younger kids and train them till they're old enough to go out and fight. Like the navy!"

"Aww, well I can definitely confirm those rumors. How old are you?"

"I'm eight!"

"Well then, just two more years then you got yourself a job sweetheart." I said, smiling down at the little girl.

"Yay! You hear that mommy? I told you!" She said giggling before hugging me.

"My names Amber, remember me in the next two years please!" She said with a bright smile.

"Will do." I said before patting her on the head and then continued my quote on quite mission, to find where this meeting was. Then, a limo drove up and stopped on the road while I was on the sidewalk and the door swung open to an irritated Anthony.

"Get. In. The car." He said, trying to act out a smile for the people filled streets.

"No, I think I'm good. The weather is very nice out right now." I said before winking at him and continued to walk. I heard his footsteps after getting out of the car and his hand wrapped around my arm as I rolled my eyes and turned around following him. It wasn't like I had a choice though, let's be fair. I got into the car and we drove to the building. It was a small five story building, but it was highly decorated with neon lights.

"We're playing mafia, aren't we?" I said, turning towards him as my hair flipped onto my shoulder.

"No, I'm playing mafia. You're going to sit in the back of the room and look pretty."

"Look pretty my ass. I'm not a decoration sweetheart." I said before getting out of the car and walked into the building.

"God that woman is a firecracker."

"Illario, shut your mouth."

Anthony came in behind me and took a firm hold on my arm almost in a protective manner.

"Listen Carlie, you have to watch your back here. All sorts of mafia people are here and some are just looking for one little slip up that can be leverage for taking you.. and I of course.. down." He said firmly and I looked up at him over my shoulder then down at his hand on me before he got the hint and removed his hand.

"Thank you for taking my care into your hands but last I checked I'm a big girl and I've been doing this longer than you anyways." I said dismissively before he proceeded to retaliate.

"Exactly, you've been doing this longer so you'll be the main target for questions. And you are indeed a big girl. A beautiful one at that so that just adds even more to your case."

"Exactly what are you getting at Anthony?"

"Just.. Watch your back please." He said and I decided against antagonizing anymore of this conversation and nodded my head. We walked into a large room with a circular meeting table in the middle of it. Only a few people were there so far but after everyone gathered in, I realized I was the only woman there. I seated myself beside Anthony even though I didn't necessarily want to. Everyone went around introducing themselves and their mafia groups. It finally made way to me and I was the last one to go and while everyone one else didn't spare a glance to any of the previous attendees, all eyes were on me.

"Carlie of Daemon Mafia Group." I announced in my presenter voice with confidence and I heard murmurs go around the room then someone stood up.

"You're Carlie Daemon? Only child of Marcus Daemon, and the girl who took over her fathers mafia at only fifteen because of her fathers death? That Carlie?" The man said, leaning over the table looking at me with a close eye.

"Indeed. And it wasn't death, but murder." I corrected but my voice was casual and he slowly sat back in his chair, resting his head in his hand keeping his focus on me, and I him.

"Your reputation precedes you Miss. Daemon. You are very beautiful." Another voice spoke up, looking over at me.

"Well thank you. I've heard that quite a lot lately." I said, softly smiling at the man who complimented me. Everyone's attention was caught when another late attendee came through the door and when I turned to this person, my blood pressure rose high enough to kill a person. I flipped back towards Anthony and stomped on his foot, drilling my heel into his foot but not hard enough to stab his foot or anything like that.

"Shit!" He yelled out and reached down for his foot. Everyone then turned to him and his father stopped what he was doing and glared at his son.

"Must you be excused boy?" He said harshly towards his son and hatred tinted his voice. Wait, what kind of relationship do they have? I would've thought they'd be two pees in a pod. Guess not.

"No.. My apologies father.." Anthony said through gritted teeth while glaring at me then he sat up right and regained himself. Anthony's dad looked around the room and his gaze stopped on me.

"Carlie, might I ask why you're here.?" He said dismissively like he wanted me to leave.

"Well your son made me come here, if you must know and let us let bygones be bygones. Right?" I said with a provocative smirk and tilt of my head.

"I got rid of your father, I can get rid of you too. Or you can go back to your slut of a mom." He said devilishly.

"Talk of my mom and threaten to kill me if you like, it doesn't phase me." I said, my gaze daring him to try me as they narrowed in on him. I watched him move around the table, nearing me till he was right behind me and his hands wrapped around my shoulders as he came down by my ear.

"Don't forget who gave you mercy when I could've ended your pathetic life in a flash. I'd suggest you have a little bit more respect for me and the things I can do." He finished before spinning my chair around till I was facing him and then winded his hand back harshly swiping across my face so hard I fell out of the chair. I'm only human, I have feelings and things do hurt me so it was no surprise that tears took over my eyes before I blinked them away and stood up without a struggle. He went for another round and my knife flew into my hand and was aimed at a person quicker than I'd ever reacted in my life. He immediately stopped and backed away.

"Huh, like father, like son. Wouldn't know the feeling thanks to you." I said through a fake smile then threw the knife down just in front of his feet and turned around, strutting out of the building.
