Looking briefly off to the side I see that the last remaining ship has finally escaped from the vicinity, I just hope the adventurers and sailors do what they do best and tell the tale of the Dragon who saved them. Taking another look at the Kraken before me, it seems we are somewhat evenly matched.

Details: The Kraken is a terror on ships that attempt to traverse some regions of the ocean. It has a strong body and uses it to crush ships that enter its grasp. Despite its strong physical abilities, it is adept in the use of water magic.
When taking into account my Soul Furnace bonuses, are stats are very close to each other, with the exception of my health pool that is almost double the Kraken's.
As expected the first thing the Kraken attempts is to grab onto my body with its tentacles. But instead of trying to fight them off or dodge, I just let it grab onto me. Wrapping its tentacles around me it, its hold begins to lighten as it feels the effect of my Toxic Scales. But I don't let it go that easily as I bite into a nearby tentacle injecting my venom. Between the force of my bite and the corrosive properties of my venom, a large gaping wound is left on the tentacle, but there is still plenty more to deal with and the Kraken still has around 1,500 HP left.
Perhaps it realised that it can't fight without getting hurt by my Toxic Scales, it sends all of its tentacles out once more in another attempt to strangle and crush me. Since I can't rely on my scales to keep the tentacles away I try to dodge but the tentacles are too numerous to dodge when coupled with my large and hard to manoeuvre body, causing me to get stuck in the Kraken's grip. With it crushing my body, I watch my health drop by almost 150 within a matter of seconds. Thankfully I have my Soul Furnace, otherwise, I probably would probably be taking far more damage. Not willing to just let the Kraken get away with its attack for free, I position my mouth towards the tentacle I had previously injured and launch my Ice Breath. Hitting the open wound directly, the tentacle snaps right off as a bloodstained ice pillar forms and stretches above the water's surface.
The Kraken release its grip on me as it recoils in pain and I take the opportunity to use my Acid Beam straight at the torn tentacle, sending my acid directly into its body. But not everything turned out so good as the hooks from the tentacles had dug into me and as they were released in a hurry they covered much of my body in open wounds. While I may have been able to drag the Kraken down to 1,147 HP, I also ended up at 1,532 HP. And the both of us are still taking damage over time from the toxins I shot out and the bleeding wounds I received. If it wasn't for my abnormally high health, I probably would have died already. The Kraken certainly lives up to the tales. But it's time for the terror of the ocean to feel true fear.
I begin to continuously use my Acid Beam in all directions turning the water into a pale purple as my acid drowns the ocean. With my acid as a smokescreen, I rush towards the Kraken and slap it with my tail and begin to coil around its body. Two can play the crushing game as I tighten my muscles around the Kraken, turning its favoured method of attack against it. Barrages of tentacles come slamming down on me but I ignore the pain and continue to increase the pressure I put on the Kraken in addition to biting into various parts of its body.
Eventually, through all of the beatings, I get thrown off, leaving the Kraken at 721 HP and myself at 932 HP. Much to my surprise, I got a new resistance, 'Light Pain Resist'. I didn't expect this but we take those. The gap between is health is closing... huh? My vision suddenly goes dark as I slowly recognise what this is, squid ink. With my vision still obscured a myriad of tentacles wrap around me and drag me towards the Kraken, crushing my body in the process.
In the struggle I twist and turn, taking every chance I get to hit the Krakens beak with the back end of my tail as I use my Acid Beam and Ice Breath in every direction, biting into any tentacle that dares come near my mouth. The struggle goes on for a couple of minutes as the two of us draw closer and closer to 0 HP. Biting, thrashing, spitting, magic, I do anything that I can possibly do just to get a little more damage. were both down to below 100 HP, and everything I do counts but the Kraken also realises this and even tries to use its water magic despite being underwater. Within moments a pressurised beam of water comes flowing towards me. But instead of the damage I was expecting to take, I don't lose any health to it. On the contrary, I feel rejuvenated as I notice that my health has actually increased! That's right, I have Water Immunity and since I need to be constantly wet to live I have an innate healing ability when being hit with water. I didn't even know I had this!
With the sudden increase in health, I increase the intensity of my attacks once more and finally finish off my hardest battle yet. The Kraken falls silent, its grip is released as I hear the System's notification.
"You have slain a Level 7 Adult Kraken. You have gained 537 EXP. Because you have slain a monster of a higher evolutionary state, your total EXP has doubled. You have gained a total of 1,074 EXP."
I can't believe I did it, I really did just pull that win out of my metaphorical ass though. I can't waste any time though, I need to eat the corpse and get my health back.
Eating the entirety of the Kraken awarded my 1,369 biomatter. I think that's the most I've gotten from any single monster. It's unfortunate but I am once again just under enough EXP to level up, I still need 700 more to reach level 8... I wonder what my current max level is? ... nothing? guess the System won't tell me then.
That was a close one though, I should celebrate... how the hell am I even supposed to do that? I'm in the good damn middle of the ocean, on top of that, I'm a giant monster. I wish a lightly guarded ship with some booze would pass by... oh, what's that?
