Chapter 1 - Child of the strong

The fragnance of the beautiful flowers filled his nostrils. The warmth of the sun fell upon his skin. The world is so peaceful.

He leapt around the field, running towards his mother. Her calm, kind face and warm arms that hugged him softly.

'Have you enjoyed today?' She asked.

'I have, mother!' He smiled, walking with her back to the massive city that stood before them.

The streets were peaceful with cars going down them, silently moving along the road. People walked, on their way to their jobs, homes or family.

They reached home, his father sat at the table tapping away at his keyboard.

'Father, we found a victory flower!' William passed over the golden flower.

'Oh ho, a victory flower?' He asked.

'Mother said that they bring good luck! I want you to take it on your next mission!' He responded.

'I'll make sure to do so,' he took the golden flower, smiling as he looked at it.

'Make sure you get me one too when I go on my first space misison!'

'I will,' He chuckled.

'Don't forget!'

His father boarded the massive ship, waving as he did before showing the golden flower and smiling.

William felt happy that his father had remembered the flower and waved back, his father vanishing inside the ship.

The ship hummed and it suddenly began to float. The thrusters turned and the ship turned before taking off into the sky, leaving the planet goodbye.

Him and his mother walked home.

'What does father do in space?' He asked.

'He helps us,' She responded.

'How?' He wondered.

'He helps us by making sure nobody can hurt us. He's a very good man, but I don't want you to follow in his footsteps- it's a dangerous job, something I don't want my child to do,' she told him.

'But I want to protect you like Father protects us,' He argued. His mother sighed.

'I know you do. I'm sure you'll find something else you'll love to do once you are grown up,' She smiled, taking his hand and leading him inside the house.

'The headquarters is moving?' His mother asked his Father who just arrived back from headquarters with a puzzled tone in her voice.

'Yes, apparently they're moving further out to cover all bases. This area is fairly safe due to other headqarters being close by,' he explained.

'I see...'

'What's happening?' William asked his parents. He stood in his pyjamas, having woken up from their loud talking.

'Nothing important, go back to sleep,' His mother told him. He complied, walking around the corner but instead listening to their conversation.

'So what does this mean?' His mother asked.

'We might have to move to the relocated headquarters. It might be in a couple months, or even years. We don't know anything yet...' Father sighed.

'Well... We shouldn't let this affect William. I'll tell him about everything once it's relocated, for now let's keep quiet and wait for more news,' His mother suggested.

◈◈◈

Silently he sat in the dirty room, eating the stale bread and scratching his short messy beard. William took a deep sigh, tinkering with the old communications radio. This isn't the future he wanted. He will change his future. To make his father proud.
