Chereads / The Phoenix Revenge / Chapter 26 - Meeting

Chapter 26 - Meeting

Natalie's POV

I gaited into the black Lamborghini that positioned right outside the estate, hopping into the back seat with my little angle clutching my hands tightly, her adorable face beamed brightly.

"We can go now" I instructed Mr Lee,who took ownership of the driver's seat.

It was early in the morning and I decided to drop off Skylar at school before appearing at the office. It's just been two days since Asher trip to Asia due to the emergency at the branch over there but it awfully feels a lot longer, mainly because Skylar has been missing her dad and the mansion strangely feels 'lonely and empty.' Skylar's exact words.

I glanced at the review mirror, getting a glimpse of Ryan's car-Skylars stationed bodyguards behind us,tailing at a short distance.

I still couldn't shake off the feeling of been monitored, now I'm not referring to the bull dog Emma kept on me,that guy was basically the least of my concern.

"Mummy is something wrong?" I turned to face the searching green eyes of Skylar pinned on me, her dark ebony hair was neatly packed in a ponytail, she gave a light push at her thick brows, making me laugh tightly.

"Nothing is wrong angel" I say to her, just when the car halted outside her school.

I alighted with Skylar following suit.

"Here we go..." Bending down,I flattened her dress, pulling her in for a hug. "You be a good girl at school"

"You know it" Her little warm hands held my neck, placing her usual kisses on my cheeks. "Love you mum"

She yelled running into school.

"Love you too angel" I threw air kisses at her, which she caught playfully with her hands bringing it to her perfectly soft cheeks.

I exhaled,watching her fade away.

I couldn't deny it days like this brought sadness realizing the bitter truth that I'll one day leave Skylar, probably for good.

I turned around to find Ryan and two of his men behind me in their black fitted suits with their eyes glued to the ground. I simply nodded at him. He didn't need me reminding his usual job,Ryan was rather good and pretty proficient when it comes to his job,and I trust Skylar's safety in his hands.

Mr Lee and I returned back on the road, driving to Reco Corp I had an urgent meeting with the stakeholders and been that Asher is away for some business, I had to be present.

The feeling I had before about been monitored was no doubt true, I recognized the grey colour Ferrari that followed my car at close distance.

It was no doubt Dave Anderson. He obviously had become one persistent stalker of mine.

It seems this past few days he doesn't have anything better to do,and honestly neither do I.

For a while now, I have been constantly ignoring his texts, calls even bailed on some business meetings for no reason, simply to get him on the edge and it's so working.

I guess it bruised his lame ego.

I pulled out from my daze as soon as we reached Reco corp.

The door was instantly held out for me as I dashed out, moving with ease. I let my hair run only to one my side of my neck exposing a bit of my skin which glowed under the sun.

I held my handbag which matched the diamond white Prada pantsuit I wore.

I walked into Reco Corp.,moving gracefully in my heels, dismissing the staffs whose heads were slightly bent in respect.

I reached for the elevator and soon alighted. I strode into my office with my assistant Rachel and Mr Williams the representative director tailing behind.

"Good morning ma'am" They greeted in unison, while I nodded coldly moving behind my office glass table taking a seat.

"Do you have the files I requested?" My eyes travelled to Rachel who nodded, handling over the files in her hands.

I heard the buzzing sound of my phone,I pulled it up taking a peep at the text message.

'Natalie please I need to see you':- Dave

I immediately discarded the text in my phone's trash.

"Mrs Reed everyone is ready for the meeting" William spoke his eyes fixed on anywhere than on me,I returned my gaze to him.

"I'll be there in some minutes" I dismissed them both, going through the files, and after I made my way to the conference room, finding everyone already rooted on their seats, clattering to one another in a low voice.

The moment I strode in everywhere went silent, I led myself to the head seat, taking a seat I scanned everyone present. "Let's begin"

******

I stepped out of the conference room,as soon as I adjourned the meeting.

"Ma'am the investors are already on their way there" Rachel joggled beside me.

I paused on my track thinking, turning to face her. "Reschedule the meeting by 4" I spoke bluntly, making my way out of the company.

As if on clue my car was already outside, but I wasn't greeted by Mr Lee.

I gazed at the dark bodied figure who stood erectly at the door,Calvin.

Calvin was one of Asher most trusted,I met him in Asia a year ago and I must say he's quite good, make that very good. He has a grandmaster black belt in taekwando and equally good in karat, and a trophe in martial art. He was away for some work and now back.

I called out, earning a courtesy nod. "Good to have you back" I entered the car as he made his way to the driver's seat.

"To Reggie's" I said, slipping on my seatbelt, settling into the ever comfortable black leather seat of my Lamborghini.

I blinked at the vibrating buzz of my phone.

I didn't need seeing the text to tell me it was Dave.

I placed my elbow on the window, staring hard at my screen's phone.

'Natalie can we just fucking see' Dave.

'Fucking!' I scowled mentally at the word.

I see he still needs more working on his choice of words.

I glared at the word in annoyance, receiving another message which I read.

'I'm sorry.Please... Please Natalie I need to talk to you' Dave.

Better

I smoothened my brows considering what my thought suggested.

'Ma'am " Calvin cleared his throat, meeting his orbs from the review mirror. "Someone is tailing this car. Should I ditch him?"

"No need for that, let him have his fun. It wouldn't last" I said uncaring, returning my gaze back on the exasperating screen of Dave's text.

Since Dave is so persistent in seeking me,well his request should then be answered.

I put my fingers into motion sending a text.

'Prescott park in fifteen mins no later than that':- Natalie.

Sending the text,I dropped off my phone gazing out of the window.

I knew it would take maximum of twenty five minutes to reach Prescott Park which was opposite to Reggie's and considering the distance from Krystal Corp, thirty minutes at most.

But that wasn't my concern, If Dave was adamant in speaking to me,he should be there.

A sick smile covered my lips,I could bet a million dollar that Dave probably wouldn't remember.

He wouldn't but I did.

'Prescott park...: I trailed off.

It was the very same place I had my first date with that sick bastard.

The very damn place he whispered fairytale sweetness to my ears and swept me off my feet.

Making me fall as hard as a damn rock for him.

I let out an inward breath which sounded more like a hiss.

The thought of that place jogged back memories that made me madder than I already was.

I would sneak out of the house, through the balcony of my room ,against my father approval and of course with the undying support of my 'best friend,Emma'.

There, I would wait endlessly for Dave and never, not even once had he ever showed up.

I still didn't get it,always making up a little excuse why he didn't come and I wouldn't mind, be it under the sun or in the terrifying frigid air,I waited like foolish naive little bumpkin and for what?

Nothing of significant. I spat

Definitely be for either one silly birthday of his or a petty anniversary or...

I sighed. Oh what a fool I was!

I respired, discarding the vexation the crawled in.

And this time would be different, I had done the waiting for several years, now it's only fair Dave also did a little on his part.

I let out a sadistic smile, letting my hair sway on my skin.

After all, I'm as bored as hell, for now at least until when the senator get back into the country.

My car halted right in front of Reggie's.

I quickly alighted. Taking careful steps in.

My red heels slapping hard against it's marble floor.

I gave the inside a quick scan,my eyes zeroed in on a group of five business looking men in appropriate designer suits.

Bingo

They were seating right beside the limpid glass view. I gave a smile reaching my eyes.

Isn't it just perfect.

"Good day gentlemen. So sorry I'm late" I settled on my reserved seat just beside the window. I could feel their eyes on me.

"It's fine Mrs Reed,we all know how California's traffic can be" Richard, one of my company offered, his lips formed into a smile revealing his gap tooth.

I took in the remaining dolled up businessmen in my circle. My eyes resting on an unfamiliar face which lit up like a Christmas tree. I recognized everyone at the table but his face was rather unfamiliar. it was no doubt our first encounter.

"Nice to finally make your acquaintance. I'm Alfred" The unfamiliar face, seating right next to me offered, grinning like a fool.

"Likewise... You don't need me introducing right?" I said in a stern business tone, fixating my eyes on the files I placed on the table.

After much compliments. The meeting began and we were engrossed in boring business talks but the straight up gazes that literally bored into the back of my head wasn't unnoticed.

I simply shrugged off the feeling, knowing exactly whose gazes they were.

Thomas. At least he should have plenty to report.

I shuffled, glancing out the window view straight at Prescott but no sight of him. I focused all my attention on the meeting.

But I kept on peering right outside the three story Reggie's restaurant, I took a glance at my diamond Chanel watch that adorned my softly white skin. There was still two more minutes left from the stipulated fifteen minutes left for Dave.

And He still wasn't here.

I picked up my stainless glass of water, quenching the dry taste that lingered on my tongue

I stared out but that bastard still wasn't there. I didn't fret but remained calm,I had much faith in Dave's soaring obsession.

He would come.

And just as my luck would have it.

There was he. Dave bloody Anderson.

I gave a look at the time. He arrived just in time.

I watched him move out of his car, glancing sideways in search for me.

I placed her hands on the table, pulling my phone close, I flicked my phone into flight mode. Returning my focus deep into the papers I held in my hands, going through it.

Then tilting my head up. Listening to the ongoing presentation.

The meeting stood for hour, this was the longest i had ever spent in a business meeting, if it were another time I would have tidied up the affairs rather quickly or reschedule it for a later date but this time surprisingly I was enjoying.

I kept on with the nods and 'mhms' but in reality my whole focus was on my darling husband who paced no doubt furiously under the vengeful rage of the sun.

He still hadn't seen anything, this merely a way to spend off bored time.

It just a light breeze compared to the storm coming his way. I chimed to myself.

I let out an inward smile watching him fiercely stroking his phone.

No doubt trying to get hold of me.

Good luck with that.

I returned my twinkling blue orbs to my companion, witnessing the meeting greeting the bask of dusk and successfully over.

I shifted on my seat picking up my belongings, taking in another delightful view of Dave still present right outside the park. His once spotless and white suit was now meticulously decorated with break of sweats which formed from the heat.

I couldn't help but shed a faux tear on his behalf. I didn't know which was more absurdly foolish Dave's profound stupidity or insane obsession.

Well I'll never know.

I made my way out of the restaurant in company of the businessmen, after a proper farewell.

I found myself in the warmth of my Lamborghini.

"Let's go Calvin" I adjusted my bag, rolling up the tainted glass of my car's window.

My gaze never wavered from Dave's view, I took a well deserved look at him with a complacent smile exploring my well coloured lips.

"Hello it's me" I cooed eying the review mirror to the car that lazily followed her. "I need you to take care of it" She listened carefully to the masculine voice over the phone. I dropped off my phone sinking deeper into my black leather seat.
