Chapter 6 - Truth hurts

*Chapter six*

Third Person's POV

If there wasn't such a thing as fate,Natalie Reed wouldn't have been able describe this. She stared face to face at the one person she longed for,her love. Dave.

She wasn't dreaming, He was there. Her gaze never wavered, she could feel his eyes on her too. This was no doubt destiny. She narrowed her eyes to recognize a tapping Emma, walking into 'Glamorous'. She was overjoyed. 'This was the perfect moment to explain everything to them.'

She gave one glance at Skylar who sat with undivided attention to the ice cream she was having, she looked around for Asher but no where to be seen. Apparently Glamorous was a subset of Asher's Corporation under RECO Enterprise. Without much thought, Natalie jerked up,clutching harder her hat,she followed suit to where the duo had exited. Taking a turn into the elevator hallway.

'What were they doing here?' She had thought.

'Maybe a business meeting' Her inner thought answered.

Natalie could have been ready for a whole lot of things than to be slapped in the face with what her eyes witnessed.

There was Dave and Emma...She couldn't bring herself to utter anymore words. Denial swam it way through. It wasn't possible.

Soon the elevator doors were opened, from the corner of the hallway she watched them enter.

It wasn't possible.

She said again with much certainty.

It wasn't possible.

She pushed her shoes to motion. She had to speak with them. Something was wrong. There must be an explanation. She hurried to the elevator, receiving another slap to the face.

Dave was there kissing Emma.

At this point she was more convinced that there was something amiss.

Probably they were drunk.

Yea...it's most likely.

No...today was her funeral... Dave couldn't bear it. He couldn't handle the pain...he wanted a distraction...

Her mind kept on searching for excusable reasons, she could feel his eyes glued on her as the elevator doors begun to close...

He was staring at her...could he have recognized her?. Her heart skipped a beat, she was about to call to him... To tell him she understood. Even though it's hurts her....everyone had a different way of grieving especially for lost loved one. He made a humanly mistake. She could forgive. She will.

Her eyes quickly changed it demeanor when she felt firm hands gripped unto her wrist. It was Asher.

Now the doors were shut. She pushed Asher out of the way pressed the floor number Dave and Emma was on. She needed to stop them before the did was done. They were both just looking for ways to forget their pain.

She frenzied, oblivious to the red hot Asher that watched her with anger.

"What are you doing?" He got hold of her wrist again glaring at her. He had never seen anyone more stupid and naive than this woman. He could read her,she was a damn open book. He knew what useless ideas she had.

"I need to stop them.." She stepped into the elevator but was dragged out of it in an instant.

Asher's anger kept on rising. "Stop what?"

"That's my husband and best friend there, they think I'm dead. They just want comfort to forget the pain" She said in their defense and pressed on the floor number. If she was sane, she would have noticed the glare Asher shot her.

She was too naive. This time he let her into the elevator, he followed suit. "So what are you going to do now"

To Natalia, she had never heard a question more dumb than that. Hadn't she explained herself already.

The elevator door opened and they were out but no sign of Dave. Anger fueled in her. This was all his fault, meddling into her business. Otherwise she would have knew the room number.

But Asher rage had reached maximum. He couldn't tolerate anymore of her stupidity and ignorance. It was maddening. "So you intend on going into their room..." Asher protruded, hoping she'll hear how dumb her idea was.

Natalie also was tired, there were so many rooms and she couldn't just barge into each one. Or could she? She thought. Her desperation had clouded her. If only she told Dave beforehand this wouldn't have happened. She couldn't imagine her husband and her best friend together.

Asher deduced what this mad woman had in mind again."Don't tell me you plan on barging into these rooms? " It was an intended question but it seemed more like a statement.

"Are you insane?..."

Now she had really had enough, she ignored him and pushed her way to the first door she could find pushing the door bell.

Asher dragged her away,no more could he handle. He pulled her and threw a slap across the frenzied Natalie's face.

All went still. Including Natalie. She didn't retaliate nor cursed at him. Maybe she indeed needed that. Asher watched as her eyes gave entrance to the tears that burned down her cheeks.

Natalie didn't bother. "He's my husband" She choked. "He thinks I'm dead" Her insanity gave a kick. "I need to stop them" She began proceeding to the next door.

Asher no longer had the time to go easy. What this woman needed was the truth stoned to her face. Before he could speak she intersected. "That's my husband. Dave..."

"Dave Anderson" Asher completed. "CEO of Krystal Corp...Hell I know who he is." He was loud, vibrating with anger and few emotions he couldn't describe. "Are you that dense?" He shot back not sparing her. "I know him. Why?" He asked, without expecting a reply he continued. "He's a regular here. He's been for a few years now. So my dear,if that guy is really your husband there is nothing you want to prevent that haven't already happened countless times."

Natalie was left mouth opened. "What are you saying to me?"

Asher couldn't help but laugh at the irony. "Do I really need to spell it out for you. Your husband has been having an affair for years now darling." He uttered without emotion.

She was silent. Then she said "Rubbish" She pushed him out of the way, which was a failed attempt.

Asher let out a sarcastic chuckle. "Look darling, this is my hotel and we tend to take notice to our regulars at the exquisite suite." He gestured around. "Your husband is well known here. He's in room thirteen."

Asher watched as Natalie stood glued on her feet. She walked past him searching for room thirteen.

"Where are you going?" Natalie ignored Asher's question and proceeded. Her expression was blank. She wasn't thinking. She couldn't anymore.

Suddenly he was in front of her. "What will you do?"

"Dave could never do that... And I will prove it to you." She said with so much faith in her eyes.

Asher didn't know why but suddenly guilt and sympathy washed over him. He felt horrible. He looked at the fragile looking woman before him. She had Natalie's face but never had he seen that look in Natalie's eyes. He took a step closer but was welcomed by the choked sobs coming from Natalie. He knew she was in absolute denial. He didn't know the right words to say to her after all it was his fault.

"Go on....Go to the room...tell them the whole truth. Maybe I'm wrong." He knew it was a bad idea but she needed some sort of support.

She took several steps then stopped. "What should I do?" Her question shocked him.

"If you want to go and confront..."

She cut him off. "What do you think I do?"

She was tired of thinking. She didn't want to go accuse Dave of something she wasn't sure of. She loved him and knew he too did her.

Yes. Dave love her and now she would prove Asher wrong.

He stared at her for some seconds then replied. "Let's first find out if my theory is right."

"How?"

"My way..."He called upon the hotel manager and instructed him to serve room thirteen. Together, Natalie and Asher went away.

He led her to a room, pushing forth a computer system... Minutes later it revealed Dave and Emma.

Natalie had no idea what Asher had in mind but he knew after it all Natalie would be left heart broken.

She would realize that love actually hurts.
