Chapter 1 - Painful Memories: All for love

Chapter one

Two hours. "Two hours!" Jeanine gasped. Unbelievable, she had spent two hours dolling herself up. It was so unlike her. Every other day it was at least max of thirty minutes to get all ready for the day. But today had been different.

Yes it was.

It was a good day for her. She wambled down the stairs, moving to the couch where her bag laid. She could feel the change in her. A growing life inside of her. She grabbed her car keys going to the door when she stopped at a portrait, she could see herself and her darling husband,Dave Anderson, her soulmate... the perfect man cuddling so close to each other. A smile crept on her lips, she remembered this day...two years ago,the best day of her life when she tied the knot with the best gift life had given her.

And now it's the second anniversary after their marriage, and yet again life hadn't disappointed her, instead made her day. Her perfect little family will be complete, the thought of that brought excitement and happiness to her.She placed her hand on her flat stomach, caressing it slowly. I can't wait little angel. She whispered softly. The memory of last night rushed through her mind. She could feel how elated Dave had been when she told him over the phone after getting back from the hospital. Her suspicion was right, she was pregnant.

She couldn't contain her joy,so she gave a call to Dave,He was going to be a father.

His joy knew no bound. Even though he was far away on a business trip, she could feel his happiness. She knew him better than anyone else.

Her smile slowly faded away when she glanced at the portrait beside theirs. Her Father.

She dropped the portrait in her hands back on the table. Her sky blue eyes gazed at the man sitting there with similar blue eyes. She didn't pick it up just gazed tenderly at it. Her beloved father, Marcus Smith.

If only he had understood her.

Tears flowed down her cheeks uncontrollably as she tried to hold back from breaking down. She was passed this. Yes she was.She told herself several times even though she sometimes doubted it. She didn't know if what she felt was guilt or anger.

She said all she had to after his death some months ago but deep down it wasn't enough.

He had always supported her and her life choices but why was her love different. Jeanine never understood. Marcus hated Dave so much to the point she was given an ultimatum. He made her choose between him and Dave.

She didn't want to leave her father not for anything in the world but she couldn't live without Dave either. She remembered his words lucidly.

'Leave that gigolo Jean,he's not worth it. Open your eyes and see the whole truth,he's not trustworthy. If he truly loves you he wouldn't have allowed you to sacrifice your education deceiving me all those years while you paid for his college forgoing yours. You are still young dear. He's not right for you, if your mother was still alive she wouldn't have consented to this rubbish. If you go with him don't bother coming back.'

That day she knew had lost her father. He didn't even attend her wedding, she was completely ousted.

The tears begun, steaming up in her eyes as it overflowed. This time she didn't bother stopping it.

She wished he was here to see how happy Dave had made her,she wasn't wrong. Yes,she wasn't educated. Many may call her a fool but she did what was right and did it for love. She wasn't proud for deceiving her father all those years making him believe she was in college while she helped Dave through college.

But it was all worth it. Dave was intelligent but without an education he wouldn't be recognized in the society. She did what she had to. No one could ever love her more than Dave could.

She tried several times to reconcile with her father but he treated her each time worse than a stranger, she didn't even know he had cancer.

Now he's dead.

Jeanine legs lost every ounce of strength in it. She threw herself to the closest couch nearby, allowing the past yet again to devour her.

She wasn't even with him at his last moment. Had he hated her that much?

She couldn't still understand. No matter her choices, she was still his daughter, his only child. This time guilt crept in,she cried her eyes out, ruining her makeup. She didn't care.

If he had hated her that much, why still include her in his will? Why entrust his Company to her. She remembered the last words the lawyer had conveyed to her from him. Words he couldn't just say to her.

I'm sorry

Be happy

I love you.

She burned with undescribable feelings. Even after his death she couldn't still understand him, still couldn't find closure. She never will.

She was pulled back by the vibration of her phone. Through the watery clouds from her eyes she could tell it was a message.

From Dave. The name brought her happiness back and the pain of the past was gone.

'Honey I just left for the Airport, see you in some hours.

I got a surprise for you.

Love you'

The words lightened her day once again as she pulled out of her gloominess. She loved him and that mattered.

With that she hurried upstairs to her room for a makeup redo and dashed out of the House.
