Chereads / My Next Door Lover / Chapter 6 - Political godfather

Chapter 6 - Political godfather

In a five-star hotel, a man in a neat and well straightened tuxedo, sat opposite an elegant lady in hotel's restaurant. The expression on the man's face was that of a gentle man. He looked strikingly handsome. The lady sitting opposite him could be seen drooling at the guy. The lady was equally a beauty on her own part. Her skin so white, her lips full and pink. The only thing that lacked in her was a nice body shape. She looked very fragile in front of Alexander. She was the happiest woman on earth because she was engaged to the most handsome man her eyes had ever seen.

Alexander looked at her as she coquettishly ate her meal. She carried her wine glass as though it weighed a thousand grams. She swallowed her meal as though it was so difficult to do. She constantly gazed at him while doing all these.

Alexander scoffed in his mind, this woman was completely fake. He was sure that she had gone under the knife for that face of hers.

After a while she noticed that Alexander had barely touched his meal.

"What's wrong Alex, why aren't you eating?" She asked in a very seductive voice.

"I'm not hungry."

He wasn't hungry? So it meant that he brought her out to eat? He escorted her because he cared about her right? She blushed at the thought of that.

"Alex, how is grandmother doing? When are you going bring me to see her? You know it's been close to two months since I last chatted with her."

"Are you done eating?" He asked seeming quite annoyed by her constant questioning.

"No." She swiftly said. She knew Alex quite well. He did not like spending a lot of time with her and so, whenever she got the opportunity, she used it wisely.

She suddenly thought of an idea and started drinking so much wine. She kept on ordering for more, claiming that her throat was dry.

Alexander acted as though he did not notice what she was doing and continued with his business on his phone. After a while, he noticed that the lady in front of him had turned funny. The expression on her face was that of a dead drunk woman. Alexander went to the counter and cleared the bill. Then, he returned to the lady and dragged her out of the hotel without respect.

Having noticed that her plan was not going as planned she voiced out her thoughts.

"Alex, could you please be gentle, I can't level up to your speed."

Alexander kept on pulling her that way till they got to the car. He dumped her at the back of the car, went straight to the driver's seat and ignited the engine. The girl at the back thought of so many ways to spend more time with Alexander. She knew for sure that he would drop her off at her family house. She had to find a way to spend the night with him. She pulled her left sleeve, exposing the upper part of her body. Her luscious boobs were almost bulging out. She also tugged at the other sleeve. But, Alexander was so focused on his driving that he cared less about what was happening at the back of the car.

"Alex, I feel very hot."

Not responding to her, he turned on the AC. Seeing that she got no response from him. She slumped back into the seat and sighed in frustration.

Soon, Alexander pulled at a stop in front of a mansion that was heavily guarded with bodyguards and police officers. The security asked for an Identification, but after seeing their masters daughter at the back of the car, they reluctantly let the car in. Alexander carried her out and pressed the door bell. One of the maids opened the door but forgot what she was supposed to do because of the very handsome man that carried her mistress like a treasured figurine.

"Take her in, she needs to rest." He said to the maid, but Christina refused to get out of Alexander's body. Alexander had to carry her up to her room with the direction of the maid. She only let go of Alexander when he tucked her in. The maid carried on with the rest of the activities whilst Alexander left the room to greet Christina's father. It had been long he spoke with that old man.

Mr. Simon Miles, the father of Christina Miles is Alexander's political godfather. He had stayed in politics so long that anyone he supported, had a nintey percent chance of winning the election. He picked up Alexander as his political grandson and had promised to take him to any height he wanted to attain in politics. In exchange for that, he was to get married to his only daughter, Christina. It was a win-win situation for the both of them.

Another maid directed Alexander to the orchard very close to the house, where Mr. Miles often stayed for his evening rejuvenation. The fresh scent of flowers from the garden and the cool breeze from the orchard made him feel so alive.

He was having his favorite wine, when Alexander walked in. He gave out a hearty laughter and called out his name.

"Look who we have here, Alexander Anderson."

Alexander only replied with a nod.

"I guess my daughter pushed you into coming, my daughter can be quite daring."

"Good evening Mr. Miles, how have you been?"

"Oh stop acting so polite with me, call me father," he said with his tongue already glistening red like that of a vampire. Of course it was from the wine he was drinking.

Alexander sat down and the both of them were quickly drawn into the world of politics. Discussing on their next step and agenda. As the conversation progressed they started speaking in more refined tones. It seemed as if they couldn't trust the people around them. Even the bodyguard who was five steps away from them couldn't hear a thing. He could only hear the whistling of the wind.

They discussed for what seemed like ages, after which the older man's laughter was heard again. He saw Alexander off to his car and kept on waving until his car was out of sight.

When he stepped into the house he went straight to his daughter's room. He was aware that she was still awake, owing to the fact that Alexander was around until about a moment ago.

"Stop acting so cheap in front of him, Tina he's going to get tired of you if you do so."

Suddenly Christina jerked up from the bed and grabbed her father's clothe.

"Even if he decides to leave me, you're going to help me get him back right Papa?"

She asked with her face filled with tears. Her greatest nightmare was loosing Alexander and if she did, she wouldn't want to live again.

Seeing her tear stricken face, her father couldn't bear to give her a disheartening answer.

"I would help."

"Thank you Papa."

She said and hugged him tightly.

On his way back to his hotel, he received a call from home. He knew instantly that it was his grandmother.

"Grandmother."

"Why haven't you found me a cook yet. Do you want to starve me to death? Wait until I die, I will hunt you down!"

Du..du..du..the line went dead.

His grandmother was surely capable! He soon arrived at the hotel and went to his suite. He dailed a number and soon it connected.

"I need the cook to report to duty as from tomorrow, I'll text the address. The persons data should be forwarded to me."

He waited for a response at the other end before he ended the call. He started undressing himself piece by piece. From the mirror he could see the faint marks on his back. Each of them reminded him of his childhood. When he was constantly wiped with cane and left with no treatment. He then, remembered the little girl who was busy getting vegetables at the garden of their house. He was so hungry that he had to call out to her to give him a fruit. The little girl ended up nodding in disapproval and ran inside their house.

He had scoffed in his mind, how could he have forgotten? There was no good person on earth. He dozed off due to the hunger and weakness he felt.

He was suddenly woken up when he heard a tap on his window. He opened it to know who it was, and it happened to be the little devil that had refused to give him a fruit. He wanted to shoo her away but he froze completely when he saw her carry out a well packaged food. The aroma from the fruit made him hungrier that he quickly opened it up and feasted on it. The little girl stood by the side and watched him finish the whole meal.

After that, she gave him a glass of a chilled drink. Looking at it he saw that she had made a smoothie out of the fruit he had asked for. He collected it and drank it all in one gulp.

"Thank you." He said.

"Your back is injured, do you mind if I take a look at it?"

"No!" He shouted and threw out the lunchbox for her while slamming the window shut.

-

He went to the shower and took his bath. It's been six years since he last saw her. Although he did not try to look for her but he was sure she didn't want to be seen by him.

"No matter where you run to, I'll find you, I'll find you Anne"

He muttered washing away the bubbles on his head.

It was Monday again and Roxanne prepared for work earlier than usual because, Draco still had to go to school. She kept on screaming at Draco to be faster but, Draco kept on looking at her like she was insane.

"Mother I'm not the one making you loose yourself! You are only nervous because it's your first day at work. Leave poor Draco alone!"

Roxie looked down on her blabbermouth of a son. After finally finding the earing she was looking for, she grabbed Dracos arms and dashed out of the house.

She dropped Draco off in a haste, well, not without forgetting to give him a kiss on the cheek which Draco quickly wiped away like it was something very disgusting.

Roxie went straight to her workplace immediately, so as not to attract a scolding on her first day.

She walked in and greeted the weird receptionist.

She went to the changing room and changed into her white kitchen wear. They were supposed to supply a thousand pieces of snacks to a certain residence. They would be wealthy of course. She was allowed to do so with the former chefs because they found her cooking impressing. She decided to start with fish rolls as they were all told to prepare any type of snack they wanted but everything must sum up to a thousand pieces. Some were mixing the dough, some were baking while some were frying. After most of the chefs tasted her dough they all concluded that she would be in charge of mixing the dough.

That they the snacks Sky High Towers made tasted different from before. This earned Roxie a good name at the company. A lot of people wanted to befriend her and of course, a lot were also envious of her.

But, just like Roxie would always say, she was going to make her son proud of her. Measly gossips don't touch her. She was happy with the way things were progressing, she wanted to become a well renowned chef. She would get there and then help her son to achieve his own goal too. She only wanted a peaceful life for her son.

She hummed as she changed to her original clothes. When she was done she signed out and left the building in high spirits.

She was going to buy those special smoothies for Draco again. Another day of her life has just received a pass mark!
