Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 'The birds and...the birds?'

Every second that passed I could hear the click of the analog clock hanging in the hall just outside the door to the basement. I knew that worrying wouldn't add anything positive to the conversation I was yet to have. Fifteen minutes had passed since I followed Cas back up to the family room, and we had not spoken a word to each other since the...well, since the 'situation'. Another ten minutes went by before I hastily blurted "I sure do hope they didn't slip out the window while we were waiting...ha." My attempt at lightening the mood didn't seem to ease Cas' discomfort, in all honesty, it appeared to add to his distress. I felt bad for thinking it, but I was starting to get frustrated with him. I know he isn't the type of person to discriminate because of who someone loves, and I also know he seems to like my brother when they're alone. Why does Marc being with Stan make him so uncomfortable? I know it's strange, considering they have been 'enemies' for as long as we've been friends, but I was able to accept that information in the first five minutes after our run-in with the boys. "Cas..." I started, standing and approaching him slowly as if I were walking towards a stray dog. I sat to the right of him and attempted to comfort him with an awkward pat on the back. Unaffected by my actions, he stood and walked into the kitchen ignoring everything I had said. If he didn't cut the crap soon I was going to get pissed! "Casey. I don't understand why you are so agitated. We haven't spoken to them yet, you can't judge without all of the facts!" I shook my head. "Listen, you have a right to feel shaken up. You have a right to not want to talk just yet. However, you do not have a right to judge your brother so harshly, not to mention in a time he likely needs support from you." I stated, aggravation seeping into my words. It was uncommon for me to not understand how Casey was feeling. Normally I can tell from just one look at his body language, but today...today was right out confusing! Casey had yet to say anything when I heard footsteps creak through the hall. "Hi, you guys." A dreadful-looking Marc shyly spat, with a small wave in our direction. Stan peered in from behind Marc, apparently unsatisfied with what he had, or rather hadn't, seen. "Judging by the awestruck looks on your faces, you are really surprised!" Stan mentioned nonchalantly. "You know, I am sure this seems sudden..." Marc said in such a quiet tone he was nearly whispering. "HA. Yes, it seems SUDDEN! What did you FUCKING expect?!?!" Cas snaps back, an evil grin on his face, and not a playful one at that. "Cas.." I began. "No. Sari, you need to stop talking. You act all high and mighty, but you are just as shocked as me! I know this is your way of helping, but CUT IT OUT!" Casey snarked in my direction. This conversation was going to be a BIG deal, for all four of us!
