Watching the carnage from a safe, sheltered distance, the destruction of the ship seemed to play out in slow motion. The massive boulders, each easily the size of a house or two, pelted the entrance to the ship. Since they were rather loosely formed the impact managed to break them into several pieces. This was what Blake was aiming for. The broken pieces all got crammed into the ship. Like an overstuffed Thanksgiving turkey, soon the mass of earth and stone were overflowing out of one side. It seemed that the additional weight of the attack was too much for the ship as well. Tilting to the end, the vessel landed right on top of the now bloated side.
Whatever was going on inside seemed to break at this point. Crumpling inward at first, a massive explosion from the center erupted. Fire, earth, and black metal shot through the air, pelting the ground around with machine gun frequency. Not even the wall of earth that was hastily erected before the blast helped much. Only being at an angle in the ground where the two had built their shelter was the saving grace. Hot bits of molten material bounced off Blake's body harmlessly, protecting Tsunis in a final wall of defense. This wasn't Blake intention at first. They had just stupidly not ducked down from their upright position once the wall was erected. Laughter echoed in the makeshift cave.
"Ha! Just call me the rock, because…not even Dwayne is as tough as me?"
Realizing that the current audience would have no idea what Blake was referencing, the gloating tone died out in a whisper at the punchline. Had Blake been in a body with blood, a comical red-faced embarrassed expression would have been seen. Sadly, only a poker face of stone was present. As it had been for eons on end. Tilting to the side, Tsunis looked curiously at Blake but decided not to say anything. Coughing, Blake continued.
"Erm…let take a look outside shall we? Maybe we can get some clues with the wreckage."
"Alright!" Tsunis chirped.
The pair slowly came out of the hole in the ground. Around them was hot rock and debris. Not a drop of liquid could be seen in Magic Vision, so Blake was forced to create a ball of water to ensure that Tsunis wouldn't die from the lack of water. Now two floating beings coasted around the crash site looking to see what exactly happened. The crater was a lot smaller than Blake expected for the sheer size of the ship. Within Blake's vision, magical elements were dancing haphazardly. It would take time before returning to where the particles were supposed to be. Thus, looking at the center of the crater was just a massive haze to Blake with dusty outlines scattered here and there.
"Tsunis, what do you see? I've got a bunch of nothing over here."
"Not much. There's not a lot of junk for something so big. Did it all get blown into the sky?" Tsunis questioned.
"I think you're partially right. Considering the hull wasn't exactly solid and the large empty space inside, the amount of scrap makes some sense. Perhaps when the ball broke all the suction power made a compact bunch of stuff before shooting it off somewhere?"
Neither of the two had all the answers. With the ship now gone, the surroundings had returned to normal. Even as they searched the crater began to fill with water from the sides. Soon the area would be filled with water, not that it mattered to Blake or Tsunis. They didn't have much time to continue searching when a familiar attractive force could be felt. A low boom and hum followed soon after. Alarmed at the change, Blake grabbed Tsunis and headed back to the hole from earlier. Diving inwards and digging frantically, a 10 meter (32 foot) hole was made in no time. With the combination of Telekinesis and earth skills Blake hardened the walls and made a wall a meter thick. The metal elements from the ship were crudely smashed together to help strengthen the wall was well. Since Blake could see with Magic Vision, the wall served as protection and didn't stop them from seeing what was beyond.
Another ship was coming down. This one much more massive and intimidating than the first. The entire lower east side of Manhattan could fit inside the new vessel with ease. Unlike the one that was just destroyed this ship seemed to have multiple holes in the underside. The hull was a silvery sheen and seemed much more formidable than the black wavy one of its predecessor. Bumps could be seen all throughout the surface with turrets jutting out of the hull. As the huge pentagon shaped alien ship continued to descend, smaller dots seemed to fall out of the holes. Soon dozens of small spheres were zooming around the crash site with beams of light piercing through the air. Chirps, clicks, and other electronic sounds echoed into the makeshift shelter.
In Blake's haste to make a safe haven, they had simply drilled down straight into the crust. Tsunis, however, couldn't simply float up like Blake could. So when the curious cries for information rang out in Blake's mind, they couldn't be sure if they should be sorry for being rude or grateful that Tsunis was trapped down there to avoid exposing their position.
"Hey the rock, what's going on up there? I hear strange noises."
"The Rock? My name is Blake. Where did you get "the rock"?"
"You said "Call me the rock" earlier, so I thought that was your name. Your name is Blake now? Most earth elementals don't have a name. Plus, you're a rock, so I thought it was fitting." Tsunis took on a confused pouting tone on being told they were wrong.
Looking back, Blake realized with horror that when they first met, only Tsunis had given out their name. With everything going on, basic politeness had gone out the window. Not to mention that Blake had only really talked to two people over the millennia that Blake had existed in this dimension. Pushing aside another round of embarrassment, Blake recounted what they had seen. Conversing through Soul Speak was quicker and completely silent compared to normal talking. This unseen advantage allowed the drones scanning the area to quickly pass over the area that Blake had created. To an observer, there was just an empty hole behind a wall with nothing important inside. As the drones continued looking around for evidence, the daring duo made another plan.
"Alright Tsunis. Question time. Exactly how far are you willing to help me with these ships? We could maybe hitch a ride on a drone to go back up to the bigger ship. But if you come with me, there's a real risk that you could die. I'll try my best to prevent that, but I have no guarantees." Realizing the drones had to go back up to the main ship, Blake bluntly gave Tsunis the reality of the situation.
Despite putting on a brave face, Blake was also worried for their own safety. There was no telling what would be encountered while on the ship from an advanced civilization. Sure, Blake's perks might help them survive for a time, but the same could not be said for Tsunis.
"I…I want to go. My packmates and I already were risking our lives to find the mysterious spot in our tales. Plus, I don't know where any of them are. Maybe I'll find something even more exciting than what we were originally trying to find! But if I just stay down here, or try to run away, I'll probably die anyway. So let me come, I'm sure I can be of some use!" Tsunis excited tone was filled with confidence.
Blake was touched that Tsunis was so willing to come. Whether it was a sense of adventure or being naïve, the little Aqua Ray was more than willing to come risk life and limb with Blake. Noticing that the drones had begun to slow down, Blake quickly carved a hole in the wall and lifted Tsunis up to the entrance. While waiting for the right moment, Blake went over the plan.
"Ok then. I'm glad to have you along. And thanks.
Here's what we're going to do. First, I'm going to make you a disguise. Some of the metal from the last ship is here. So, I'll make you a little container to help both carry you and make you look like a random box. We sneak to a flying ball over there, attach ourselves to it, ride up inside, then see how to smash everything in one go. What do you say?" Hurriedly, Blake gave the details for an off-the-cuff plan to stop the Harvesters. Seeing Tsunis nod and jump into the makeshift box, Blake waited for the drones to start lifting off and return to the ship.
As the lights scanning the ground shut off and the drones began to ascend, two shadows darted out of a hole. Using Telekinesis to attach both Blake and Tsunis to the drone without alarming it, the ship's size continued to grow. Several minutes passed and the drones had only made it halfway up. While the gaping entrance slowly began to open, watery darkness was the only thing that could be seen inside. Within Magic Vision, Blake could see endless water particles slowly flowing back and forth.
It almost seemed like there was a lake inside of the spaceship.
