Chereads / Venele: The Hazy Seduction / Chapter 3 - The Visitors

Chapter 3 - The Visitors

Venele's PoV

After our conversation, I had made up my mind to not cause any heartache to my dad anymore. I had too much, maybe it's time to play good daughter now.

It's already 7:00 PM, for sure daddy's visitors are already downstairs. I took a look at the dress that mom brought from Paris. Just now, I realized that the dress is beautiful, but will I look gorgeous in it?

I let out a sigh. "Whatever!" I wore the dress and when I'm done, I looked at myself in the mirror.

"Wow! I can't believe I look like a woman."

Not to brag but the black, off-shoulder dress that extends inches above my knees, flaunt my curves. I like it even if I know it is too skimpy for my dad's taste.

'Mom will be very happy to see me in the dress she picked,' I thought to myself.

I put on a little makeup to bring color to my face, a few accessories to add glamour, and put on my black, ankle-strap heels to make me look taller. My overall self tonight is unusual for me.

"Damn! I really am a woman now."

While I was walking towards the dining room, I heard my mom's voice, which made me happy because I rarely see her these days. I thought she had gone somewhere in Europe to attend to her businesses there but now she's here. If I hadn't mentioned, mom is into fashion so she put up her own boutique here and there.

I straightened my back and squared my shoulders. I brought myself inside regally with the sweetest smile I could muster to everybody.

"Good evening everyone. I'm sorry I am late, I thought you've already started," I said when I reached my seat glancing at everyone in the room but not really paying attention. My seat is beside my brother's, my brother who is always looking gorgeous with his Armani suit.

My dad seemed to be awestruck because he did not utter a single word before mom broke off the silence with a light clap, "Oh, honey. You are perfect tonight. Not that you aren't but you look gorgeous," mommy complimented while daddy seemed to have withdrawn from his momentary stupor.

"Thanks, mom, and welcome back."

She angled her head as if my words are the sweetest thing she ever heard. Mom's always like that so don't fret. She is always acting as if I am her precious baby. I just rolled my eyes inwardly.

"You are just in time May Venele. You looked womanly tonight," daddy said eyeing me then I looked down on my dress as if contemplating whether to make me change my dress or not.

In a state of confusion, I answered him, "I don't know how to take that dad."

"That was a compliment, baby."

'Well, well, well, I really thought he would freak out with the skimpiness of my dress. Thanks to mom, she has such good taste.'

"Let's devour the foods then," mom said then everyone started eating except me who just toyed my food.

I scanned the room again to see daddy's visitors. There were only a few of us dining actually, a group consisting of nine people including my family and me. I instantly recognized Aunt Louise and Uncle Bob, my parent's business associates and close friends who were smiling at me. And then it hit me. Dad's visitors are 'The Ramirez's!' I yelled inwardly with my eyes wide open.

"Hello, May. You have grown so much, I haven't seen you for years. Now, I'm glad to know you'll soon become a family."

I was caught off guard hearing Aunt Louise uttered such sweet words.

"Ahh-Aunt Louise, thank you. Uncle Bob, you look good," I said smiling at the two people whom I have known to be a lovely couple aside from my parents.

"Totally... We are so looking forward to the wedding," a lady in her 20's chimed with what Aunt Louise said as I gazed at her pretty blue eyes. I gave her a questioning look which she obviously gets.

"Oh! You must be wondering, I am Beatrice, Marc's sister. You can call me Bea just like everybody does," she waved.

I looked at the other gorgeous lady beside her, "And by the way, this is Divine, my brother's long-time friend," Beatrice continued.

Divine beamed and I returned her kindness with a smile, "Hi, Divine. Nice to meet you," I said which she only nodded and I thought, 'I just wish I could gorgeous like her.'

"Of course, my brother right here is Gilmarc, but most people call him Marc. I'm sure you knew him already," Beatrice said.

"Yeah, sure. It is hard to forget the man who had been with all the beautiful ladies in the world," I answered, sarcastically.

"I never knew your daughter could be this funny, Uncle Rod," Gilmarc commented hawking at me.

I raised my brow at him then Uncle Bob remarked, "I believe May to be rather realistic than being funny, son."

Grinning at Uncle Bob, I said, "As a matter of fact, I am Uncle. Thank you for siding me."

Everybody in the room laughed as Gilmarc rolled his eyes.

Just as the mood in the room lightened, my smile faltered when a man came in from somewhere beaming handsomely. I looked at him questioningly before I uttered, "Michael?"

They stared at me, puzzled but not Michael, he sat beside Gilmarc which I was informed is his best friend.

'Oh my! What joke is this? Nobody oriented me about this.'

In my own little secret world, I compared the two men while they were eating. Michael looked dashing with his gray suit with manly face, crooked nose, and brown eyes. Gilmarc is well, so much more handsome than the pictures I've seen on Google.

He bore himself so well. He has broad shoulders and apparently has a well-toned body. His chest is surely hard as it flexed under his suit.

'Wait! What? What am I thinking? Wake up Venele! He is a damn playboy!" I blushed with my thoughts.

I scolded myself but just like a fool, I looked at his face intently, and when he smiled for whatever reason his dimples showed. I cannot help but blush again. He has blue piercing eyes, straight nose, strong jaw, and the dimples- those damn dimples make him so damn hot.

Then, Michael snapped, "So, you still remember me?"

The way he said it was not like he was asking but seemed like a confirmation that he also remembered me as I remember him. I don't know why but for a while there, I seemed to lost senses as I felt the imaginary sweat forming on my forehead with just a freaking one question which is not like a question to me.

I contemplated before I gathered all my thoughts and answered in a vague manner, "How can I forget?"

'Well, this is awkward. The man I'm supposed to marry and the man I had my first time with, both in one place with the brat. Oh great! Just great!"
