The world most people believe to be living in is quite different from the real one. There are lots of horrible things that are not seen by the eyes of an ordinary person, simply because most people stay in their houses when it's nighttime or because they don't happen to stumble upon them. Ever since the dawn of humanity there were stories of people getting possessed by horrible beings, that most called demons in their religion. Most people would think that those are just stories to keep the order of the world and to make people act better thinking that they would end up in a better place once they end up dead, however they are very real and even tho nowadays they do not seem to be having that common of an appearance, it's simply because people have became more "self-aware" and think that those are made up stories told by ones to create panic in society.

Our story is set up in the 1800s and leads up to changes in the world that could be disastrous to the point of destroying humanity as it has been known before.
