Chapter 25 - The fight

Slowly approaching Tristan, the SOTF members positioned themselves in a fighting stance.

And then, the beeps. Tristan heard them, one after another. And that's what saved him.

He dashed towards the first beep he heard, staying low over the ground, because the SOTF members always jumped.

So he managed to evade the first attack. His only problem was, that he had to kill them all, by hitting their core.

‚This will be Hard', he thought.

When the first one got in reach, he quickly threw his fist at it, though, the results weren't the same as earlier.

It blocked with the black stick. The stick was so hard, Tristan couldn't ever even think of breaking it.

He had to change his tactic. They were supposedly immune to magic, but what if he hit the weak spot with his magic?

„[Splitter Orb]!", he yelled. Hundreds of small dark orbs manifested in front of him. He sent them towards the SOTF members, and this time he was successful, three of the fourteen fell to the ground. The others guarded their spot with their arms.

He still had eleven to fight, three wasn't a good number. He had hoped that he would get more from the attack.

When one would look closely, one would also noticed that the three that died had the numbers 14, 13 and 12. It seemed like they would get stronger with every number closer to zero. He was lucky that he already took out 1.

But he was thinking to long, extreme pain shot through his arm, a member was behind him and it hit Tristan with its stick. The sticks must have had some kind of hook, because it ripped out a part of his arm.

Tristan screamed in pain. He quickly ducked, before he would get hit again.

These things were powerful. But now he knew, that his magic would work too.

After fighting for another ten minutes, there were only nine left. Tristan was exhausted. And Zero didn't even begin to fight yet. He was just standing there, watching.

Tristan threw punches, kicks and magic at his enemies.

And one by one, they fell to the ground. He had finally beaten them. But he wasn't in a very good state. His arm still had the chunk of flesh missing, and there were bloody scratches all over his body.

„[Shadow Body]", he whispered. The Shadow body started to heal him, but his arm would take long.

„You... How dare you, you will pay for this!", Zero screamed. He made a quick motion and his stick went up in flames.

It was now the wounded Tristan against an Angel with a burning stick, that could easily kill Tristan.

Zero stepped forward.

„You will pay... you will pay!", after repeating it a few times while walking towards Tristan, he screamed it a last time and jumped at Tristan.

He quickly ducked and escaped Zero by a few centimetres only. Tristan roles over the ground and quickly threw a kick at Zero, wich stumbled backwards.

Quickly taking a fighting stance again, Zero was now more cautious. He was more defensive, but still attacked.

He managed to hit Tristan on the other arm, now both had wounds. The shadow body grew, so it could treat both arms.

But also, Tristan was now incapable of casting his spells, as he needed his arms for that. He had to wait until at least one could move freely without much pain.

So he went on complete defensive mode and only tried to evade Zeros attacks.

„Are you scared? Are you hurt?", Zero asked mockingly.

„Well to bad! This is just the start!", he laughed.

Then, Zero appeared behind Tristan and kicked him in the back. Tristan flew against a wall and fell to the ground. Zero approached him and stepped on Tristans legs. He grabbed him by the hair and pulled his head up.

„This is for my companions!", he said, as he raised his stick and slowly cut open Tristans right side of his face.

Tristan yelled in pain, but there was nothing he could do. His skills were either useless in this situation, or he couldn't use them because his arms or legs were to weak.

But then, he noticed something. A glimmer of hope. His one arm was almost recovered.

„Do you like it?", Zero asked, as he picked up Tristan and threw him against another wall.

Tristan coughed up blood.

„You will never kill me!", he said.

„I won't kill you, no. I will do something way better!", Zero laughed maniacally. He raised his stick again, putting it at Tristans hip. Then he slowly began to cut it open. Blood squashed out of Tristan, like a fountain.

„No! Stop it!", someone yelled from behind.

Zero stopped and turned around. There was a young lady standing there, a sword in her shaking hand.

„And who might you be?", Zero asked.

„I'm Layla! And I will kill you!", the woman said.

„Alright Layla. I will get to you next. But before that, I will finish up with... Huh?!", Zero took a step back. He turned around to look at Tristan, but there was no Tristan, only blood.

„What? Whe-

„Didn't I tell you?", Zero heard a voice from behind. He slowly turned around, Tristan was standing there, in front of Layla.

But this time, he was different. His hair was as white as snow, it looked like purple flames were raging inside his eyes. Shadow embraced some of his body. He was levitating over the ground. Pure hatred and anger radiated from him

„You will never kill me!", he yelled, „and now, die, [Revenge of Darkness]!", the black Rad shot out from his hands.

Zero couldn't even react, he was frozen in place. What happened?

And then, Zero was completely evaporated.

Tristan fell to the ground. His vision blackened. The last thing he saw was people running up to him.

„I wonder if he's okay."

„He's Tristan. He'll be fine."

„You think so?"

„Yeah. And besides. He's still breathing and these shadows are keeping his blood where it should be."

„I guess you're right."

*silence*

„What do you think made him look like this?"

„I don't know. Maybe some kind of special power?"

„But wouldn't he have changed back by now?"

„Good Point. Hey, I can see the valley entrance. We must be there soon!"
