Once the headmaster walked back into her office, the kids got up and surrounded Hyreona.
They began to ask her lots of questions. None of which she understood.
"Hey why is your hair white?"
"Are you not cold in just that dress and socks?"
"Did you actually come from the forest?"
"Is it scary?"
"Hey would you like to be my girlfriend?"
"Wait, be mine instead!"
"But I said it first!"
Damien stood on the outside of the crowd next to Clarissa who was trying to talk to him.
Since he was taller than most kids his age, he was able to catch Hyreona's troubled and confused expression.
Seeing that, he ignored Clarissa at his side and parted the crowd and came up to her. He patted her slim shoulder to reassure her before turning to the crowd.
"Hey guys, I think you should all try to calm down. She can't understand us so she must be feeling overwhelmed." Damien pointed out calmly.
"Tch. Damien's got her. We don't have a chance." A boy around Damien's age said.
Damien's neck became red. "W-Wait what?"
The kids giggled seeing Damien react that way and went back to doing what they were before Hyreona came.
All except for Clarissa who was shaking from anger. 'That dumb dog is stealing Damien again!'
Damien coughed and tried to calm down before facing Hyreona again. He then gently grabbed her hand and led her to an empty corner of the room.
Letting go of her hand, he motioned her to sit down on the floor with him.
She lightly nodded and sat. Doing what the adults did, he pointed at him self and said his name. "Damien."
Hyreona gave him a toothy white smile that caused his ears to turn red and repeated him slowly. "Deay-mi-eun."
He happily nodded his head and gave Hyreona a thumbs up.
When he heard her heavily accented voice saying his name, his heart gave a big thump.
To cover his embarrassment, Damien pointed at a book before saying it out loud. This went on for about two hours where he pointed at an object or person and told her the name of it.
She repeated the names with the same heavy accent. Hyreona was able to pick things up quickly, so by the time he stopped, she could say extremely simple sentences and name all the objects.
[A/N: So I'm too lazy to type in all her accented dialogue, so I'll just write it like normal.]
"Where... home?" Hyreona asked.
"Ah, where is my home?" Damien corrected. She nodded.
He helped Hyreona get up and brought her to the window.
Pushing the curtain a little to the side, he pointed at a big mansion at the end of the town.
Hyreona looked to where he was pointing and widened her eyes.
To her, it was the biggest and most complicated looking building she had ever seen so far. "That... home?"
Damien gave her a positive answer. "Yes, that's where I live. I'm the Baron's son."
"Wow... big!" Hyreona turned and looked at Damien with her glittering, big pale blue grey eyes.
Seeing Hyreona looking at him that way he froze.
His thoughts ran rapidly.
'Damn it. She really is super pretty. Wow, her eye lashes are so long... and her lips... they really do match her skin perfectly. I wonder if I can get her to like me.'
Hyreona grabbed Damien's arm, making his entire face turn slightly pink. She shook him when she saw that he was just staring at her, helping him break out of his daze.
"A-Ah..." he coughed to refocus himself.
Gathering up courage he asked her, "W-would you like to c-come to my huome?" He accidentally bit his tongue.
With a delighted expression Hyreona excitedly repeated him to make sure. "I... come to your home?"
Damien nodded and covered his mouth with the back of his hand embarrassed.
"Yes!" Hyreona said happily. She would actually be able to go into that huge building.
Heaving a big breath of relief that she agreed, Damien gave her a big warm smile before running towards the headmaster's office to tell her that he's going and taking Hyreona with him.
When he returned, he nervously grabbed her hand and held it tight.
Damien lead her out of the orphanage and they walked together towards his house hand-in-hand.
While navigating through the streets and crowds, he noticed the townsfolk giving him surprised looks.
They had never seen their Baron's son show any sort of interest to a girl. Let alone hold her hand in public. There were even some that speculated that he liked boys instead.
The girl was someone they had never seen before too. She was extremely beautiful and had white hair that was out of the ordinary.
Seeing those two together, it sparked rumors and gossips across the town.
Damien turned his head around to see if Hyreona was alright after he noticed the townspeople staring that them.
Hyreona did not notice the looks of the people as she was too busy viewing the town itself.
She also did not think much when it came to the hand holding as she thought that this was normal for these people.
Whereas Damien was extremely nervous and his heart was thumping wildly. They looked like a young child couple; well matched too as they both were very attractive.
After what felt like an eternity, but in reality was just about 10 minutes, they finally reached the entrance of the Baron's manor.
The guards standing on either side of the gate recognized Damien and quickly opened it to let him in.
Although they had already heard the rumor about the young master from a passerby, they were still shocked seeing him with the young and extremely beautiful white-haired girl.
Ignoring the two guards, Damien quickly walked in with Hyreona in tow.
He brought her around the mansion and showed her his favourite places, completely disregarding the other shocked staff that worked in the manor.
Finished showing her the mansion, he took her to the garden where snacks and tea were already prepared by the maids.
They ate and talked to each other, quickly improving Hyreona's vocabulary. This kept up till sunset.
Looking at the pinkish and orange sky, Hyreona decided that it was time for her to go home. "Thank you... showing me... home. I had fun."
Realizing that it was already sunset, Damien was surprised.
Time had passed by too fast.
"Alright. Let me walk you to the forest." He smiled at her.
He took her hand again, but this time a little more naturally.
They walked out of the garden and through the streets again before arriving at the edge of the forest.
Hyreona stepped into the forest feeling the refreshing cold air on her skin.
Suddenly, she had an idea to give him a gift.
She crouched down and took in a handful of snow before smashing it into a ball and blowing the snow away.
What was left behind was a little flower made of ice that was the size of Hyreona's small palm. She turned back around and walked towards Damien.
He was just about to wave her goodbye, but then she saw her crouch down.
After a few seconds, she got back up and started walking towards him.
He was thoroughly confused by her sudden actions.
When Hyreona was right in front of him, she grabbed his hand and turned it so that the back of his hand was facing the ground. She then placed the ice flower into his palm before stepping away.
Feeling something cold in his hand, Damien looked down and saw what she had given him.
Hyreona gave him a warm smile. "Ice flower... for Damien friend... no melt."
She waved at him and walked back into the forest, disappearing from his sight soon after.
Damien stared at the flower made of ice in his hand then looked in the direction Hyreona disappeared in.
The color of his face flared up.
'Crap. I think that I really do like her now.'
His lips curved up softly and he turned around, making his way back to the manor. He gently put the flower into his pocket.
When he made it back, his father, the baron, called him into his office.
"Damien. So I've heard that you're interested in a girl. Why don't you tell me who she is and introduce her to your mother and I?" The baron teased his son.
"I heard that she's a real beauty."
Becoming extremely red, Damien embarrassedly replied, "Father, she's just a friend that I met today."
"Ohoho, love at first sight I see." the baron smirked.
Not being able to handle the teasing from his father anymore, Damien suddenly left the office.
He heard his father letting out a hearty laugh as Damien closed the door.
Once he was back in his room, Damien took out the flower and placed it in a glass case before putting it on his bedside table.
Calling the maids, the took a bath and dressed into his pajamas. Getting ready to sleep, he stared at the flower for a while before closing his eyes.
'I hope that she will come back tomorrow'
