Tomorrow at any time my awakening will happen and here I am walking to the great hall after being suddenly asked to appear there by my father. This was considerably odd due to the fact that my father was supposed to be handling the outreach to the Bolyn estate that caught fire after a massive bandit attack.
Bandit attacks had become quite a reoccurring issue as of late. Many believed it to be heavily organized as they always seemed to strike at the most opportune moments and were heavily efficient in their actions. Even more mysterious was the way they disappeared just as soon as the estate's battlements could fully assemble in the chaos. Yes, vanishing into thin air, as if they were never there, but they certainly left a mark... I am a great eavesdropper...
Upon arrival at the door, I sighed heavily. I was certain that I was about to get a huge lecture on the importance of my education which would be triggered due to my excessive and repetitive tardiness. Reluctantly, I opened the door...
"SURPRISE!!!!" A host of people yelled at the top of their lungs. My heart jumped through the ceiling and I gasped as I saw the surprise party that had been set up for me at the last minute. All of this in honor of my awakening set to occur tomorrow.
I was bum rushed by my father who quickly wrapped an arm around my shoulders and spoke heartily, "Congratulations son! Tomorrow is your day to begin your new life, but today is all about Celebration!"
The people who heard him through the chaos cheered which only heightened the chaos of noise. I then walked to join the fray of merriment in my honor. Along the way I was greeted by handshakes of some of my family and friends of my father and mother and words of congratulations. I was soaking it all in when I spotted her... Lina had chose to come and boy did she not disappoint with her party attire.
She was the perfect combination of lethality and pageantry. She wore a strapless sleeveless white corset with black laces and a white and black elegant battle skirt with white skin tight knickers and some white and black flats. Her hair was curled and half up half down. I damn near melted... well I guess it's no secret, I may have a small crush on her... okay a big crush...
She saw me too and locked eyes with me and smiled. Walking like a goddess up to me, she greeted me, "Congratulations Connor! Are you excited?"
"Y-yeah! I.. I am really excited.." I stuttered before bowing to her. Okay, confession number two, I am not a smooth talker and get nervous around girls, especially her...
"Haha, don't be so uptight! Let loose! Have fun!" She smiled as she was rushed by that same Fylrey girl. As they walked away, I swore I heard them say my name and looked at me before giggling.
I shook off my puzzled thoughts before turning to meet my mother. "Are you ready, baby boy?"
"I don't know. I'm confident everything is going to be okay, but everything is going to change too." I stated truthfully.
"Don't worry son. If anyone has anything to worry about it isn't you, it's me. I already have enough trouble with you as it is!" She laughed in what was supposed to be an encouraging way.
I accepted her encouragement for what it was and smiled for her content. Truth be told I just wanted to get it over with so I can join my lineage as a Centius Royal guardsmen. It was definitely my dream since I was old enough to understand.
I was deep in thought as the party continued. I was stuck on autopilot that I barely noticed that most everyone was gone. When I shoved off my thoughts and looked around there was a few servants cleaning up and only a few stragglers. Amongst those was Lina, her fylrey friend, and a few others. I walked up to Lina and strangely the Fylrey girl whispered something before bolting away from Lina's side to leave the great hall.
"Hey Connor. What's up?" She smiled leaning against the table.
"Not much I'm just not ready to go to bed. I feel foggy. I know that sounds wierd." I stammered.
"Not weird at all actually. I felt the exact same way before I got my awakening." She smiled, shifting to a more standing position,"Tell you what, come with me. I'll show you something."
A bit surprised by her words but literally smart enough to know that I'd be an idiot not to join her, I spoke, "Okay lead the way"
She grinned big and took my wrist abruptly and pulled me leading me out of the hall. I was barely able to keep up. Aerokinetics were known for their innate speed and light footedness. She didn't seem to notice this as she lead me to a servants closet.
"Woah..." I put the brakes on and stopped.
She turned wearing confusion on her face and then it dawned on her what seemed to be the issue, "Oh no it's nothing like that! Just trust me!" She giggled opening the door.
I laughed nervously and scratched the back of my head before stepping into the room. Upon entry, I noticed a ladder that went up to a hatch. I looked at Lina and grinned.
"Go on get up there before someone catches us." Lina whispered.
I smiled one more time before starting up the ladder...
'This is the last night...'
