Chapter 104 - The Reply [Chapter 104]

Silence seems to sweep the world, not even the nature around us making a sound. Suddenly, as though an explosion goes off, the city erupts into shouts and screams. The guards below us hold their weapons up and start shouting towards us, but we can't make out what they're saying. As we drop down, we hear them clearly.

"Vathric fights with you!"

"Even if Marin says no, we are with you!"

"Not even president Marin will stop us!"

Azeroth speaks up.

"Marin? Don't remember hearing that name last time we were here for a while."

Blankk replies quickly.

"Politics here change in an instant. There's no telling who this guy is they're talking about."

Ayvex smiles and raises her sword.

"Everyone, head to the Sathric Gate! Sathric is the first place that beast plans to attack, then here!"

With Ayvex's words, the sound of footsteps quickly echoes through the city as people start running towards the Sathric gate. Ayvex looks to me, then the others.

"Blankk, Azeroth, Warren. You all go with them to the Sathric portal. Blankk, tell them to all get ready. When Dante and I return to Sathric, we will be doing a mass teleport. Grim will be arriving on the east coast since it's the closest to Mathric."

They all nod and quickly start running towards the Sathric gate. Ayvex picks me up and starts flying towards the Lathric portal.

"Dante, we need to use that spell when we get to Lathric. Relay the message across the continent, just like we just did."

I nod as we fly straight to the portal. Within seconds, we arrive, but Ayvex looks too big to fit into the portal. Before I can say anything, she drops me to the ground and shrinks to same size as me. As it happens, I laugh and shake my head.

"Man, you old ones do have some interesting abilities."

Ayvex chuckles and nods.

"After living for thousands of years, you pick up some interesting abilities."

We both quickly walk through the portal, instantly appearing on the other side. Ayvex grabs my wrist and looks to me.

"Get us to the capital."

I nod, using my previous memories of this place to teleport to the large castle where we fought Vexien. Ayvex returns to her normal size and floats high into the air with me. I use the unnamed spell that I created, and watch as once again a beam of blue light stretches high into the sky, then plumes outward into millions of individual rays. I once again put my palm to Ayvex as she speaks up.

"My diligent followers, it has been almost five hundred years since I was last among you. You promised then to follow any order I gave, and I promised I would never force you to do anything. Today, I hold that promise, and offer this to your free will. I need help, to fight off an ancient evil. I reawoke to deal with it, but sadly I cannot stop it on my own. I beg you all for help. We will need to unite with Vathric and Sathric."

Silence once again sweeps the city. I look down to see thousands of people looking up to us. Ayvex continues.

"As the Archangel who gifted the continent with eternal life, I implore you to help me now. I won't lie, a lot of you will die, and I cannot save you. But if we all work together, we are most surely guaranteed victory. If we do not work together, then you will all perish under the relentless flames of oblivion. So, what do you say, will you help me save the world?!"

For several seconds, silence sweeps the area. Then, much like Vathric, the ground erupts with cheers and shouting. Ayvex drops to the ground and raises her sword.

"If you wish to fight with us, then come! Place your hands on me!"

Within minutes, a flood of people come running out. Thousands extend out down the streets touching and connecting to each other, clearly for a massive teleportation. After several minutes, Vexien jumps from a building and lands on Ayvex's shoulder next to me. He's wearing very ornate gold and black armor with silver inlays.

He looks to me and nods. With a nod from Ayvex, I know it's time. I take a deep breath and see the gate, using [Teleport 5] to teleport the thousands of people to the gate. As we appear, we tell the people to go through the gate.

Ayvex and I take lead, going through the portal first. As we emerge, we quickly step forward and spin around, waiting for everyone to come through after us. After several minutes, when everyone is through, we teleport close to the Sathric portal. We appear and see a seemingly never-ending line of people going through the portal.

Ayvex gets the people of Lathric in line beside the Vathric line, then we hastily run through the portal. Seconds later, we emerge to see an already incredible amount of people around the portal. In the brief time it took us to grab the people of the Lathric capital, there's already hundreds of people in Sathric.

Ayvex looks to me.

"Dante, you need to make better weapons for everyone. I know it will take a lot out of you, but normal weapons will not even scratch Grim. You created a weapon using magic back in Mathric, think you can mass create them?"

I think about it for a moment, then nod.

"I believe I can. But any idea how much time we have?"

I ask as Ayvex looks out to the water.

"The oceans are much larger than most people realize. If Grim started flying right now, it would most likely take him a few hours to reach the eastern coast of Sathric. Listen, I'm going to the Guild Association's main building. I'll invoke the Call to Arms, a long-forgotten rule that gives me full control of the guild and military forces of Sathric. Then I'll have all B-class guilds start making their way to the Eastern coastline."

As she finishes talking, I find the Call to Arms mentioned in Nevereth's memory. Nevereth and Ayvex met in secret with the founders of the Guild Association and created a safety net in case of an attack or national emergency.

Before I can reply to her plan, an image flashes in my eyes. I see Grim moving to other cities in Mathric, recruiting the strongest fighters from the continent. Subconsciously, I realize there's still at least a full day before Grim starts to fly towards Sathric.
