Chapter 100 - Nevereth's Fate [Chapter 100]

The world seemingly goes silent, only a whistle from the gentle breeze and the sound of waves crashing echoing around us. I feel my heart sink slightly, but I grit my teeth and glare at him.

"No, you're lying. There's no way you could've found this individual event in that library of infinite knowledge!"

Grim stares at me, a wicked smile on his face.

"Now, Nevereth. Am I a liar?"

I clench my fists.

"No, you've never told me a lie. You've always been brutally honest. But, you're saying this to try to unnerve me! You'll fight dirty if it gets you a victory, I know that much!"

I teleport behind him and put my palms on his back.

"[Telekinesis 11]."

His body flies high up into the air, stretching far beyond the line of sight, not even a tiny dot to indicate where he is.

"I will win! No matter what extent I have to go to! Even if I rip this body apart to unhealable extents!"

I shout, slamming his body straight down as hard as I can. While he's shooting downwards at unfathomable speed, I jump up and teleport high above the ground, that way I won't be caught up in the shockwave. The ground explodes on impact, several miles of the continent crumbling and exploding apart. The ocean floods inwards and I teleport to the newly created shoreline. Loud crashes and echoing booms from the tectonic plate seemingly breaking apart.

From the water, once again, Grim explodes outwards from the water and lands on the edge near me. His arms are ripped apart, only holding on by a few strands of mangled flesh. Several bones are jutting out of his flesh at his stomach and legs.

"I will admit, that was a pretty powerful attack. Even reshaped the entire shoreline, and some of the forest."

He casually looks passed me, at the destruction from the cataclysmic shockwave.

"It's been awhile since I've seen destruction like this. But here soon, I'll cause destruction that makes this looks like child's play. When I kill you, I'm going to uproot the system you made with your dying breath. ONLY THE STRONG DESERVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE!"

Grim laughs maniacally as I teleport to him and put both of my palms on his chest.

"[SoulFire 11] [SoulFire 11]!"

With both palms, bright blue flames erupt outwards, stopping and spreading when they hit the waters edge. The flames stretch up to the sky, illuminating the entire sky above us. The insane heat destroying Grim's body, him laughing slightly as his flesh and bones turn to vapor.

"And now, you've sealed your fate. Doomed to live the destiny the Nexxus decreed."

His last words as his body fully disintegrates. I stumble back, canceling the spell and struggling to catch my breath from dual casting such a high level, max powered spell.

"N...no."

I choke out the words between exasperated gasps.

"I-I-ve killed you...your champion. And your body was...ah...was sealed. Idiot."

I fall back and take several minutes to catch my breath. Before I stand back up, a slight gust of wind blows passed me. At first, just a strong breeze, but starts quickly gaining power. I roll to my feet and lean into the unrelenting current of warm air, which soon starts rolling passed me faster and harder than even the worst tornado.

My heart sinks, blood running cold as the mountain range starts rumbling.

"No, it can't be."

I force through the unrelenting stream of air, all the way to the place where Grimgaer was sealed. Noticing the unbelievably strong gusts are coming from what I had previously believed to be a cave.

"I was wrong. I thought this to be a natural formation."

I watch in horror as the mountain slowly lifts from the ground. The ground I'm standing on crumbling as it too is lifted. Dirt and grass falls away, revealing the large black scales. I stand, almost paralyzed. I watch as far as my eyes can see left and right, seeing 2 massive wings rip through the ground and lift high above me.

A pair of massive, slitted golden eyes open almost a thousand feet ahead of me. The previously thought mountain shakes, overgrown scales falling off revealing the large black head of Grimgaer. I step back, looking down noticing I'm almost a mile off the ground now. Slowly, I turn my gaze back to Grim, who's eyes have turned inwards, focusing on me. I shout to him.

"So, this is where your body fell? You weren't sealed?!"

A loud sigh causes me physical pain, having to cover my ears.

"I was pinned to the continent, sealed in a differemt manner than you were. But, I've grown tired of you. I think it's time to crush you, and go about my changing of this weak world."

I quickly extend my hand and glare at him.

"I may not have my body, but even still, my magic will never be defeated by pure strength!"

Using a newly made, unnamed magic technique that I just created using minimal magic, I summon a weapon on par with Dante's Hexcalibur. I start to use more buffs, but suddenly freeze in place.

"Wha-what the shit!?"

I drop the sword as Grim turns his attention away from me.

"You bore me. But I should tell you the reason why I brought up championing people. Nevereth, did you know that if you champion someone, I could champion them as well? Until they die, any of us five can champion one person. Would you like to take a final guess who I championed after getting all the info I needed from the Nexxus?"

I feel fear roll over me.

"Wait, no. That's not possible. You couldn't have championed Dante!"

I feel myself moving towards the edge of Grim's head, slowly walking towards the edge.

"You've already seen that Dante can control the body, even while you're in control. By what I can tell, this occurs when you have any doubts about what you're doing. Which, from what I've seen from Dante's eyes and from what I've always known of you, is blatantly obvious."

I look down, then around, noticing I'm slightly below some of the low blowing clouds. Grimgaer's voice booms from under me, echoing far in every direction.

"To think, you tried to push her away so she wouldn't get hurt. It's sad, this makes twice you've tried to give your life for her. Dante, jump."

I fall forward, Grimgaer's words ringing in my ears. I plummet to the ground for almost half a minute and land on my back with a loud thud. The initial impact does hardly any damage, but as I look up, I see the massive foot rapidly coming down towards me.

"Like everytime we've fought throughout history, you are crushed, like an insect."

Then- Darkness.
