Chapter 98 - The Demon/Maker [Chapter 98]

The world turns into a blur as over, and over, I relive moments of my life. Helpless to defend against it, I push through the memories until I start realizing what's happening. I start fighting against the memories, desperately searching for ways to break free, but to no avail. After what feels like years, I see him with his back to me.

"Nevereth."

I glare at him as he looks over his shoulder, his pitch black hair blowing in a light breeze.

"Now, back to my original question. Why do all you humans on Sathric think that the Demon King and The Maker are different?"

I glare at him, then slowly walk towards him. His eyes widen, then he cracks a smile.

"Oh? What's this? Are you going to try to fight me?"

I feel rage building, far passed the point of boiling over. I see it clearly, see it as it has been.

"You made me kill all those people. All that death, all that torment, FOR WHAT?!"

I lunge towards him, attacking him using the same techniques he used while using my body. He easily slaps away my strikes and sighs.

"Even now, I limit you. The emotions you feel are the ones I feel, so of course your anger is excessive. But think clearly, if I wanted you just to be a bloodthirsty murderer, why did I allow you to keep friends?"

I pause, at a loss of an answer. He crosses his arms and smiles.

"Tell me why humans consider The Maker and the Demon King to be two different people? If you answer my question, I'll answer any questions you have."

I feel my blood still boiling, but think rationally enough to accept his proposal.

"The Demon King attacked us, everyone, but The Maker stopped him. The text of The Maker says 'Purple fire reigned from the heavens as the winged demon flew overhead. The blackened sky bellowed and roared as the demon screamed. As the light pierced the heavens and stopped the demon, we knew The Maker was with us.' That's all it truly says about you. There are about fifty other pages referring to the event though."

Nevereth stares at me for a moment then grits his teeth. He clenches his fist and growls angrily.

"I never understood it. In the thousand years I was sealed, I heard the phrases echo through oblivion. Then, when you were chosen, I heard it more."

Nevereth growls and clenches his fists tightly, piercing his palms with his claws and letting blood roll over his fists.

"I will kill them all, this only confirms that humans do not deserve to exist. I save them, fight for them! I SACRIFICED EVERYTHING FOR THEM, and my thanks was being spit on and sealed away?"

I step back, feeling the world shaking wildly around me. As the world falls away, I see Nevereth flying underneath a massive beast, its wings blacking out the entire sky. I feel my heart sink as purple fire falls downward, passed Nevereth and down to the ground below.

"I will kill them, but after I kill him."

Nevereth appears beside me, both of us looking at the massive dragon looming overhead.

"You will pay."

I jolt awake, feeling my head spinning. Vex, Blankk, and Azeroth sitting in front of me staring at me concerned. I see their lips moving, but can't hear them. I smile, then look at my hands.

"Dante gave up control, but why? He didn't even ask any questions."

I whisper to myself, clearly everyone hears me and quickly draws their weapons. I look up and look at everyone.

"Xa'Gorthep, Ayvex, it's nice to see you again."

I smile, putting my hand on the ground. I feel wood, and upon looking around, notice I'm inside a carriage. My ears clear up and I hear Vex speak up.

"Nevereth."

I look to Vex and smile.

"So, before I bounce out and go finish my task, why are you two inside of humans as well?"

Xa'Gorthep takes control of Blankk, his eyes glowing deep blue.

"I wished to see the outside world for myself, and to also keep personal tabs on you. We are old friends after all."

I look to Vex and see him sigh.

"I chose this boy as my avatar, much as you did with Dante. I would awaken upon death, the same as you as well. The only problem, Vex died at birth. So I was trapped in a vessel without the mental capacity to remember anything, so I forgot everything. As I grew stronger though, my memories returned to me. But I now have emotional connections as both Ayvex and Vex."

I tilt my head and smile.

"That's nice, I'm glad to see you all again. But faking this smile hurts my face."

I narrow my vision and summon two swords to my hands. I kick towards Azeroth's face. My foot stops inches from him and he gets launched through the carriage. I grit my teeth and swing the swords towards Vex and Blankk, but once again stop inches from their face.

They all stare at me as I realize what happened.

"I see, so Dante gave me control so he could concentrate on stopping me from killing those he doesn't want to die. Not a bad decision."

I kick back, leveling the carriage and flinging myself into the air. I use [Telekinesis 10] on myself and look around.

"Grimgaer should be directly east from here. I can't use magic to cross the oceans, but I can use the same strategy I did before."

I take a deep breath while floating higher and higher.

"[Telekinesis 11]."

I use the spell and fling myself forward, quickly covering miles per second without dropping in altitude. I hold my arms up, bracing against the wind while flying forward at insane speeds. Within seconds, I see the ocean appear and roll underneath me. For thirty more seconds I fly forwards, crossing the entire ocean and appearing over a land mass.

"[Teleport 10]."

I teleport to the ground, seeing the tribe Dante saw his first time on Mathric.

"Ah, so I aimed correctly. Nice to see I'm not super rusty."

I look back at the portal behind me that leads to Vathric and laugh.

"Best not have anyone interfere."

I quickly jump over and kick the portal, knocking it far out into the deep ocean waters. I spin around and look at the now terrified tribe.

"Now then, Grim, let's finish this."
