Chapter 80 - The Way Back [Chapter 80]

Vex pulls the book from before from his back, under his shirt.

"I wonder if that thing knew I took this?"

I hear Vex mumble to himself. I look to him, then the book.

"What's that book?"

I ask, stepping towards him. He laughs nervously and tosses the book behind him. His shadow reaches up and grabs the book, quickly pulling it downward.

"It just has some information I'm interested in."

He rubs his hands together and waves towards the entrance.

"But as you said, let's go to Mathric and find Grim."

Vex smiles. I nod in response, pushing no further on the matter. I turn and start walking towards the door, feeling a strange sense of excitement. As we walk out of the door, we see another beast wandering around in front of us.

I stare towards the massive lion, a mane of pure gold and fur of slightly darker color. It stands well over seventy feet tall, quickly looking towards us. I instantly draw my sword and teleport above it, jamming my sword into its skull and smiling.

"So I know all spells? [Titans PyroBlast 10]!"

In an instant, dark red flames punch through the lions head. I slash my blade upward, watching the flames cut through its flesh. I jump back to the ground and laugh slightly. The beast collapses and I hold out my hand.

"[Telekinesis 10]."

I throw the lion far out of view, almost feeling myself smile uncontrollably.

If I know all spells, and have this much strength, is there anybody that can stop me?

I think, sheathing my sword and popping my neck. Vex walks beside me and sighs.

"Always have to kill something, don't you?"

He asks, looking off to where I threw the lion. I ignore him, instantly starting to look around.

"So what's the fastest way to Mathric?"

I mumble to myself. Vex quickly answers.

"The fastest route would be to go back to Vathric, then go through the Mathric portal."

I nod, still looking around.

"So, which way is the portal?"

A brief silence settles as Vex looks around, at first calmly, but then hastily.

"Well, uh."

While he proceeds to scan the horizon, Blankk walks up to us and points slightly to our left.

"Exactly fifty-three miles that way."

Blankk says, his eyes once more glowing blue. Vex nods slightly, everyone else catching up to us. Vex quickly grabs us all and teleports, revealing us a few feet from the portal. I look to Blankk and stare at him.

"Whatever that creature did to you, it's very helpful."

I say, quickly stepping through the portal before Blankk can reply. After a few seconds in the black and blue gate, I reappear in Vathric. This time, surrounded by hundreds of guards.

"Fire! FIRE!"

I hear someone yell, but teleport behind everyone before they can pull their weapons up. I sigh and hold out my hand.

"So slow. [Telekinesis 10]."

I lift everyone off the ground then slam them down. Blood floods the road and rolls over my boots. I quickly jump up into the air and land on top of a light pole. The rest of the group emerges from the portal, to the sight of dead bodies and a tide of blood rolling down the road.

"Dante!"

Vex screams, almost gripping his sword with some strange rage. He glares at me, almost hesitant. I sigh and run my hand through my messy hair.

"They attacked me, this was their choice."

I reply quickly. Vex looks away, still clearly angry.

"Stop, just stop killing people. You can resolve problems with peaceful means."

Vex looks back to me, then to all of the dead bodies. As he starts to speak up, I hear footsteps on the wall behind me. I hear a sharp noise, like a blade quickly swinging through the air, and subconsciously duck. I watch a man swing over me in mid air, his body quickly going passed mine.

As he lands with a splash, I see his whole body. His entire body seems to be made of segmented black metal. He has a visor covering his face and a long sword in his right hand. The blade is glowing a faint blue and he points it up to me.

"How dare you kill them! They were defending the gate from monsters!"

He shouts, his voice shaking slightly. I look at his sword for a moment then pull my sword from my back. The man in front of me starts to ready his sword, but I fall forward. He almost drops his guard in confusion, and in response I kick the light post as hard as I can, ripping it from the ground and launching myself forward.

He doesn't pull his sword up before my blade gets inches from his face. Suddenly Vex appears in his place, the words striking my ears.

"[Mass Umbra Shift], [Time Ripple]."

I stutter in place for a second, then continue forward. Vex is now to my side, glaring at me. I jam my sword into the ground and grind to a halt, my sword easily cutting and ripping through the concrete. I look to Vex, feeling the tension between us growing.

We stare at each other for a moment, but I growl and sheathe my sword.

"Fine, I'll let him live."

I remark hesitantly, then quickly walking away. I hear the man start to yell, but instantly get silenced. I look back and see Blankk covering his mouth. I scoff and continue forward, looking for the portal to Mathric.

Soon, Vex catches up to me and grabs my wrist. I easily pull my hand away and stare at him. He sighs.

"You don't even know where the portal is, Blankk and I do. Let's go, we need to find this Grim guy to defeat Arthur, right?"

Vex smiles and scratches his head. I pause for a moment, then nod in response.

"Fine, let's go. I can't wait to rip Arthur's head off with my bare hands."
