Chapter 66 - The Deal [Chapter 66]

Illestra sits on the edge of a chair and looks to me, seemingly shaken. She clears her throat.

"So, why did you come here? To Vathric, I mean?"

I point to Blankk.

"To bring him back from the dead."

She laughs and shakes her head.

"No, I am almost one-hundred percent sure that there are ways to bring him back to life on Sathric. But what other reason is there?"

I grit my teeth slightly as Vex speaks up.

"There was a monster hunting us, we wanted to figure out how to defeat it. We are delaying to think up a plan, or well, I am at least."

Illestra looks to Vex.

"Ah, so fear then?"

I quickly stomp my foot, accidentally crushing and breaking the wooden floorboards. I dart my eyes to the floor as Illestra laughs.

"Did I happen to wound your pride? No need to be upset, everyone is scared of something. But it is amusing that you have such a prideful view of yourself."

I quickly clench my fist and look away, feeling insulted and embarrassed. Illestra giggles.

"But no matter, I think we could help each other."

I jerk my head towards her and stare at her.

"How could you help us?"

I ask, intrigued. She stands up and smiles.

"I know of a place, or creature, that may have the information you seek. But before I tell you that, I want you to help me."

Vex hesitantly nods.

"With what?"

Vex mumbles, almost cautious of her proposal. She looks to all of the people in the room and smiles.

"We lack the power to take down the Hero Association, but with your help, it shouldn't be too difficult. I could easily come up with a plan to bring them down with your help."

Vex sighs deeply.

"Alright, let me ask another question. Why should we help you take down the Hero Association? What have they done that is worth dismantling?"

Illestra groans and sits back down. She thinks for a moment before replying.

"The system in which Vathric runs, is rigged. The old saying here is 'If you're accused of a crime, you're either guilty, or dead.' That saying holds true, even now. The heroes believe they fight for justice, when in reality, they fight for a cancerous system that dares to oppress the innocent and guilty alike. The heroes are pawns, and they must pay for their ignorance."

Vex scratches the back of his head, still hesitant to accept the agreement. I speak up.

"I couldn't care less right now about the political and governmental drama of other continents. I just want to know how to beat that thing. Point me at something like a weapon that way we can get this exchange underway."

Everyone seemingly recoils at my bluntness. Warren leans over my shoulder and raises an eyebrow.

"By how I understood it, you also wanted Wolfpack down because they were corrupt. How is this any different?"

I shake my head.

"No, Wolfpack was revenge. Nothing more, nothing less. This city hasn't wronged me, yet."

Warren laughs slightly.

"You mean, besides cutting off your fingertip upon arrival, then trying to arrest you?"

I clench my fist.

"Fine, then I will make it personal, if that's what you want me to do."

I look out of the corner of my eye to Warren. He smiles faintly and backs away. Illestra laughs and crosses her arms.

"Then, shall we talk plans?"

I laugh.

"If you want, but I would prefer you just use me like a weapon. Swing me where you want."

She smiles and points to me.

"I love how you are. Your personality is just what I look for in a man, doing whatever I ask with no questions. If you didn't mind staying, I would have no problems with making you mine."

I scoff and pop my knuckles.

"Enough flattery, just tell me what to do."

Vex sighs and nods in agreeance. Illestra smiles and walks over to a cabinet, opening it and pulling out a map. She quickly shows us where we are, then points to where we need to go.

"Precinct eight, the headquarters of the Heroes Association. Of course, that will be the final target. Each precinct has up to two Hero Associations present. We will need to take out all of the small ones, then strike the main complex. We want to take down the small ones fast."

Vex speaks up.

"But, why? If they are much weaker than us, why should it matter what order we take them down?"

She laughs.

"You may be strong, but they do still have weapons and abilties that could be annoying. If you take out all the smaller buildings, the main complex won't have any backup when you attack them. I'm sure you will win no matter what, this just seems to be the safest bet."

She quickly points out all of the complexes, circling them and handing us the map to take with us. I nod and look to Azeroth.

"You should stay here, keep an eye on Blankk. We'll be back soon. Oh, and if anyone threatens either of you, or if anyone angers you."

Our eyes meet for a moment as I nod.

"You have my permission to paint the room with their blood."

With that, I walk out. Kain, Vex, and Warren follow behind me and we move towards the first hero complex. Warren mumbles under his breath.

"If I was still young and attractive, I'm sure I could pick up women too."

Kain sighs as Vex chuckles.

"Yea, Kain. This is what I've had to deal with. You get used to it."

Kain chuckles in response.

"Oh, really?"

"No, not really."

Vex and Kain laugh together as Warren walks beside me. We quickly start running down the road towards the outpost. We soon arrive and stare at the massive metal building. Warren grumbles.

"So how big of a commotion do we want to cause?"

I laugh and hold up both of my hands.

"I remembered this when I remembered that I had [Dominate] as a spell. This is a fire spell I picked up after I took down the X-Class dungeon. This seems like a good time to try it out. [SoulFire 3]!"

In an instant, blue flames shoot forward, melting a hole in the building instantly. The solid metal puts up no resistance against the blue flames. Liquid metal flows across the ground as I hear loud, but breif, screams from the building. I see civilians around us, staring in fear and shock.

As they scream and run, Vex speaks up.

"I feel like the other complexes will be aware very soon. Kain, go back to Azeroth. We three should be enough to take down all the complexes. I counted twenty-one small complexes, then we'll meet at the main building to finish it."

He rips the map into three pieces.

"Dante, you take the first five precincts, Warren the next five. I will take the final six. Let's get it over with."

He teleports Warren and himself away and I quickly start running towards the first precinct. I look back to see Kain standing dumbfounded.
