Chapter 1 - Prologue

The word nymph means something different to everyone. Nymph simply is describing a creature that is half nature half human. Nymphs have been around for centuries, since the start of mankind. There are multiple different races amount the nymphs. The most basic of human knowledge, werewolves and vampires. Half wold half human, and half bat half human. There are many other types as well, half cat half human. More specifically half Jaguar half human or half lion half human. Then there is the half bird half human, half fish half human, which also has two sub species. Siren and mermaids, sirens took for of a shark features while mermaids took more human. Then there is half dragon half human. Those are the main tribes, amount the tribes members took on different attributes to show where they stand within the clan. Such as Alpha werewolves have blue eyes, betas have yellow and omegas have red. It follows ruffly the same with all of the nymph species, the strongest have blue eyes, while the weakest have red. Those traits are only shown when in a natural state that shows both parts. To survive the nymphs adapted to be able to appear completely human or become completely animal and as time went on, some stoped going into there natural state and nymph mated with other clans. In only human forms nymphs can't always tell what clan another nymph is from. Those who let themselves appear human but still show there form became rare for a few millennium after King Arthur died. This changed as people started to enslave others. All nymphs are naturally stronger and faster than humans, we all have heightened senses because we are part animal. It made humans weary, and when humans don't understand something or something is different they fear it, then try to control it or destroy it. It was a choice of survival. Most of our kind went into hiding and tried as hard they could to revert themselves to be able to transform as it was the only way we could stand a chance against the new weapons and advancing technology. The choice became clear for most to allow ourselves to be taken, at least then you can live. Soon humans started enslaving there own kind and based things off of color and nymph no longer seemed scary or different since we only remained in human form, they became used to having people stronger and those of the nymph that were white were released from slavery in most cases. There were some master who wanted to have the natural form shown, and some who didn't care about the color of skin and wanted to keep the nymphs for themselves. People started forgetting about our kind as time went on, all of those except what we learned to call collectors and hunters. Collectors higher Hunter to go and capture nymphs or sometimes to be the guides on hunts since nymph are the biggest thrill to hunt. We have human forms and can fight back. We can really fight back as we are stronger, faster, and stronger then animals. We are also all different spices and subspecies due to mix breeding. Some are more dangerous then other and some are stronger than other depending on there mix. Collectors don't just hunt nymphs for trophies, they hunt nymphs to capture and bring back as pets. They tend to be more fond of werewolves as nature of a dog after it has been tamed, it becomes loyal to its master. The Feline clan can also be very loyal after tamed, it you get a lion that is. Jaguars tend to stray off by themselves and don't run in pack mentality so they aren't as loyal but are tamable and it's more impressive to have one. The bird clan, they are also solo for the most part. They run in small groups, once they have a mate it's there mate for life and they often are with one or two other mates pairs to better protect and raise there young. There loyalty can be earned but it's very difficult and they have to of been captured before they have been able to find a mate. Vampires are a breed that is normally killed on site, they run in groups of 10 normally but they don't have very much loyalty, they will overthrow whoever is in charge and take the position if they sense weakness, so they often aren't hunted to keep as pets they are hunted to be killed. Collectors also don't spend there time on them normally, the Hunters go out and kill them to keep there population low to make sure they can't interfere with there business. Lastly is dragons. Dragons run in a pack like mentality of 7-10, but like vampires they will overthrow there leader. Dragons don't do this out of weakness they do it if they think the leader may be a threat to them or there young, so often dragons have more than one alpha in the group or are all the same rank and they choose together, then kill any in pack who they think are a risk. It's common to see a pack of all omega or all beta dragons. They are the ones normally hunted but most dragons were hunted during the old days for there scales, so not many dragons are left. Dragons are a species collectors want and only the richest and highest authority collectors ever get there hands on a dragon, and that rarely goes well. The dragon or dragons are normally killed as they see the collector as a threat to them. Therefore either the collector kills the dragon or the other way around. Which makes having one tamed makes a collector even higher within the society. After collectors tame nymphs they use them for all sorts of things. This goes from training them to be body guards or security to training them to be entertainment for guest or when they throw parties. It's part of why the felines and birds are in high demand, they are light on there feet making them good dancers and have good balance and are used to being in trees which makes them perfect for Aerial silk dances. Werewolves are best at staying as body guards or security due to there loyalty but lions are built big and with a strong looking structure, so it makes them good security or bar tenders. They may appear big but are more often very attractive, they are also sometimes used in weight lifting competitions, or as football players when the collectors get together to prove who has better people. Collectors put together teams to compete, it's normally football and cheerleading teams, as it's the most commonly played sport and the most physical sports that require the most talent and strength. For the select few who have dragons, they don't have them participate for risk of having a tamed dragon get injured or worse having an untamed dragon killing there own pets. Dragons are meant to stand as body guards or appear as the collectors escort(s). Both male and females are trained to be able to aerial silk dance, and in combat. If tamed they fall into whatever task is necessary, meaning whatever the master decides. Although wars were fought to end slavery and it was deemed unlawful, collectors aren't effected by it. Collectors are made up of the very scary people, the from the highest ranking members in mobs and cartels to crime lords and high ranking politicians. While hunters tend to be high ranking officials in the black market and low level mob or cartel members. Having nymphs at all means you have money, power, and influence that have accrued over years and are completely secure. These are the types of people who the law doesn't seem to have any effect on. That the types of people nymphs are faced with, people who get away with keeping slaves and murder, because countless nymphs are caught and won't be tamed for many reasons, and they are killed. Once upon a time there used to be 10 clans of nymphs, and today the 6 clans have slowly dwindled down in number and 3 out of the 6are almost completely extinct. It's only a matter of time before all of them disappear.

Mermaids and Sirens are to dangerous to hunt and aren't useful for any purpose to collectors so they have gone untouched for the most part by humans, expect that they were hunted by Vikings, pirates and sailors. They also were fighting a war between themselves, while being hunted by other predators in the ocean. Since mermaids were more human it led them open to attacks by predators like sharks so they learned to live in groups, sirens on the other hand don't like groups and stay by themselves so they have a lot of in fighting for territory not only among other sirens but among tribes of mermaids. Both of the subspecies are all but extinct with only a handful of each left due to an attack on all fronts, they had to worry about going to close to the surface and being killed by humans but also where they were at in the water because at the bottom and middle is where you find sharks and others from the fish clan.
