I was taking Katie to C.T. and I got lost,"Your lost." Katie said as she saw us going in circles."I'm not lost. How are you feeling?" I asked as we were heading down another hallway.
"How do you think I'm feeling? I'm missing my pageant." I scoffed,"Your missing your pageant." I rolled her eyes. "The Spokane Teen Miss. I was in the top 10 after the first 2 rounds. This is my year. I could've won. Hello. Your so lost. What are you like new?" At that point I just tuned her out as I tried to find my way to C.T.
A few minutes later Katie started rambling again,"I twisted my ankle in talent rehearsal, I do rhythmic gymnastics, which is, like really cool. Nobody else does it and I tripped over my ribbon and I didn't get stuck with someone this clueless, and that was, like a nurse."
"Are you done now?" Before she could answer we made it to C.T. I left her there so I can go to lunch.
AT LUNCH
George saw how Izzie wasn't eating her lunch," This shift is a marathon, not a sprint. Eat." She looked at the food and pushed it away,"I can't."
George shook his head," You should try to eat something." Izzie kept looking at her food full of disgust," You try eating after performing 17 rectal exams. The Nazi hates me."
George scoffed at Izzie's remark,"The Nazis a resident, I have attendings hating me." Izzie and George shocked there head and sulked in defeat.
"You know Samatha's inbred?" Christina said breaking the silence. George laughed,"Like it's uncommon around her to be a doctors parent...." Christina shook her head,"No, Royally inbred... her mother's Ellis Grey." Izzie gasped,"Shut up. The Ellis Grey?"
George looked at them confused,"Who's Ellis Grey?" Christina looked at him in disbelief,"The Grey Method. Where'd you go to med school... Mexico." Everyone at the table laughed. "So I didn't know one thing." Izzie then said,"Talk about parental pressure."
Christina said in amazement,"God, I would kill to have Ellis Grey as a mother. I'd kill to be Ellis Grey. All I need is one good case." As they were talking Samatha approached the table. "Katie Bryce is a pain in the ass. If i Haden's taken the Hippocratic oath, I'd kevorkian her with my bare hands..." she paused as everyone looked at her,"What?"
Before anyone could respond Dr. Burke came to the table," Good afternoon, interns. It's posted, but I thought I'd share the good news personally. As you know, the honor of performing the first surgery is reserved for the intern that shows the most promise. As I'm running the O.R. today, I get to make that choice." He paused then he put his hand on Georges shoulder then continued, "George O'Malley."
George looked at him in shock,"Me?" Dr. Burke smiled," You'll scrub in for an Appendectomy this afternoon. Enjoy it." With that Dr. Burke left them to eat." Did he say me?" George asked still in disbelief.
KATIE BRYCE ROOM
I took her back to her room after she finished her C.T. I was checking her vitals when her parents came in. "They gave her a sedative for the C.T. scan so she's a little groggy." After that her parents hit me with different questions, "Will she be alright? Our doctor at home said that she might need an operation. Is that true? What kind of operation?"
I was so overwhelmed with the questions I started stuttering, "She's um... well, you know what? I'm not the doctor. I'm a doctor but I'm not Katie's doctor so I'll go get him for you." With that I left and went to find Dr. Bailey.
HOSPITAL LOBBY
When I finally found Dr. Bailey I went up to her," Katie's parents have questions. Do you talk to them or do I ask Burke?" I looked at nervously not knowing how she would respond. "No, Burke's off the case. Katie belongs to the new attending now, Dr. Shepherd. He's over there." With that she left me there. I looked in the direction she pointed to and when she did I was stuck in place at who I saw. 'This can't be happening!' We made eye contact with each other. As soon as I saw him look at me I walked away, I don't know where I was going but I was going.
I was walking down a hallway until I heard his voice,"Samatha can I talk to you for a second." He pulled me into the stair case.

Samatha: Dr. Shepard.
Derek: Dr. Shepard? This morning it was Derek. Now it's Dr. Shepard.
Samatha: Dr. Shepard we should pretend it never happened.
Derek: What never happened? You sleeping with me last night? Or you throwing me out this morning. Because both are fond memories I'd like to hold onto.
Samatha: No. There will be no memories. I'm not the girl in the bar anymore and you're not the guy. This can't exist. You get that, right?
Derek: You took advantage of me and now you want to forget about it.
Samatha: I did not take …
Derek: I was drunk, vulnerable and good looking and you took advantage.
Samatha : Okay I was the one who was drunk and you are not that good looking.
Derek: Maybe not today. Last night? Last night I was very good looking. I had my red shirt on. My good looking shirt. You took advantage.
Samatha: I did not take advantage.
Derek: Want to take advantage again? Say Friday night?
Samatha: No. You're an attending. And I'm your intern.
Samatha: Stop looking at me like that!
Derek: Like what?
Samatha : Like you've seen me naked.
Samatha : Dr. Shepard! This is inappropriate. Has that ever occurred to you?
