A few days passed, and Lukas stayed in the hospital under observation. Even though he hated the hospital, he listened to Mika and stayed until she came back. Mika had to go back to the office with David to sort out some work since Lukas was unable to work.
"There is so much work to be done..." Mika took a huge pile of reports on Lukas' desk, and David chuckled and shook his head.
"Now, you know how much work our boss does every day." David patted Mika's shoulder, "You get used to it. You've been working with our boss for a long time already." He smiled at her and turned around, "I'll wait for you in the lobby. You can work on those papers in the hospital." Mika looked back at David and nodded.
She understood how much work Lukas had to do almost every day. Mika made up her mind, she doesn't want to hinder Lukas. She needed to try her best to lessen his stress.
Mika stacked the papers and placed them in a box. When she went downstairs, David helped her with the box as she went inside the car.
At the hospital, Lukas was working through his papers and didn't notice Mika standing outside the door.
She peeked in and smiled at Lukas, "Guess what I brought?" Mika sat beside Lukas and opened her bag, "I went to the office to clean up some stuff, and I found this picture of us. Remember we walked through the park?" Lukas leaned closer to her and hugged her, "Of course I remembered, silly girl." They laughed and looked at each other in the eye a lot of deeply. Lukas kissed her forehead, nose, and lips. Mika loved his kisses and the way he caressed her.
Dr. Karl came in while Mika was on Lukas' bed. She was surprised and immediately stood up and fixed herself. Awkwardly standing beside Lukas while Dr. Karl chuckled, "You guys can spend more time after I leave." Mika smiled awkwardly and shifted her gaze to the side. She thought to herself, "Mika, that's so embarrassing..." Mika looked back at Dr. Karl, after talking to herself.
"How is he, Dr. Karl?" Mika asked. Dr. Karl finished checking him and looked at Mika, "Nothing too serious. You guys will have surgery in a few days. Remember to rest up. Mika, from now on, Lukas will have to go to the isolation room since he will be immuno-suppressed. This is just a safety measure to make sure he doesn't get infected." Mika nodded and looked back at Lukas.
"What's wrong, Mika?" Lukas asked her as Dr. Karl left the room. She shook her head and smiled, "Oh, nothing. It's okay. How are you feeling now?" He held her hand tight and replied, "Are you worried about me?" He slightly smiled, "It's okay. I'm fine. Mika, look at me. I'm still alive. Everything will be alright soon. It's getting late, go back home and rest. Dr. Karl wanted you to be fully rested before the big day." Mika nodded and hugged him, "Don't worry about me. I'll be just fine. Lukas, I love you." They both hugged each other for a while, and Mika wiped away her tears, "Lukas, I'll leave right now. Make sure to eat and sleep well. I'll call and text you after I get back." Lukas looked at Mika as she left the room. She waved at him and closed the door.
Aisha walked in the hallway, disguising herself as a nursing student wearing glasses and a mask. She rolled the trolley with medicine and syringes while keeping her head down. Other doctors and nurses did not bat an eye on her believing she's just an intern nursing student. After they walked away, Aisha walked a bit further and saw Lukas' room. She knocked on Lukas' door, but there was no answer. A nurse who walked by told Aisha that the patient had been transferred to an isolation ward, and no one would be allowed to visit him. Aisha nodded and backed away. She called Anthony about the situation, and he was mad that the situation wasn't going according to his plans.
That night, Lukas stared at the ceiling and thought about Mika. He smiled at all of the beautiful memories that he had with her. From the first moment until now, he loved everything about her. She will become his official wife, and he couldn't wait to see her wearing the wedding dress. Lukas kept thinking about the sweet memories of Mika that he fell asleep peacefully until the next morning. A few days had passed, and Mika was getting ready to go to surgery. She was nervous at first but remembered that she would be married very soon. After thinking about good things, Mika notified the nurses that she was ready. They wheeled Mika to the operation room along with Lukas. She smiled and hoped everything would go smoothly.
After the two of them entered the operation room, they saw Dr. Karl is the main surgeon. Several minutes later, both Mika and Lukas were put to sleep under general anesthesia. The procedure wasn't too difficult, so it didn't take them too long.
After a few hours, Mika was taken to the recovery room along with Lukas. She saw Lukas still sleeping peacefully, and she looked at him while lying on her side. Although she was in pain, Lukas' health was her first priority. No matter how much pain she will suffer in the future, as long as Lukas is healthy... she will be able to handle anything.
Two days passed, and Mika was finally able to move around slowly. Lukas still needs his rest, but he looked so much healthier than before. The doctors still had to do some follow-up before he could be released from the hospital. Mika went over to Lukas, who was sitting upright on the hospital bed.
"How are you feeling?" She asked and held his hand. And Lukas held her hand tightly, "I'm feeling well. Thank you for helping me. Mika, I love you." Lukas leaned forward and kissed her. Mika closed her eyes, and she didn't think about anything else.
"Lukas." She whispered softly.
"Don't say anything." Lukas held her head gently as they kissed. Mika couldn't wait for their big day.
