Chapter 4 - Chapter Four

Silence. Deafing silence surrounded Ash. Opening his eyes he could nearly tell weather or not they were still closed. Nothing but an inky blackness spurned Ash. The inky blankness made Ash feel sick. The dark so thick he couldn't make out his own hands. All Ash could feel was falling. Deeper and deeper into the darkness. almost as if he was sinking deeper and deeper. Reaching his hands out he felt smooth stone. Realizing he was more slowly floating down than falling. Or maybe he was right and he was slowly sinking into the black ink below and above him. Feeling the wall under his hand Ash tried to find some grove. Something anything to grab onto. Only smooth cool stone lay under his hand. Suddenly there was a ledge. Grabbing onto it Ash came to a sickening stop. Moving his hand farther up the ledge. it seemed about a foot back. Pulling himself up Ash sat on the ledge one leg dangling with his knee against his chin. Feeling carefully the stone around him. It seemed much ruder and far more brittle. Unlike what seemed as if comepletly sold walls above him. Something moved. He didn't know how he knew, maybe it was the sickening slither like noise coming closer. Something grabbed onto his ankle. Slimy cold and wet. This thing felt alive pulling him back down into the darkness. Whatever it was had odd strength. Ash flung out his arms in hope of the wall. Even if it had no ledges it brought an odd comfort. Ash tried to breath to calm himself but instead nearly chocked. The air was thick down here and it was getting hotter. At first it was just an uncomfortable warmth. Then it became heat. Finally it began to feel as if he was being cooked alive. Sweat dripped into ashs eyes making them ache. The air smelled of death and sulfur down here. Gentle Ashs feet hit the ground. He fought back the wave of virdago. Standing up as best he could he walked towards the orange glow. Light and soft. As soon as he walked into the room were the glow was coming from his eyes burned. The room was so bright compared to the thick blackness outside. Looking around Ash realized the thick blackness still leaked out of the corners populating the room were the bright orange glow didn't reach. The room was hot. Ashs skin felt dry. His lips cracking as blood leaked into his mouth. A light foam formed at the corners of Ashs mouth. The air was thick and heavy. It felt like it was going to crush Ash at any moment. Listening past the sizzling of the magma Ash walked into a new room. This one had small lights populating ever inch of the room. This light bright and blinding. Like sunlight reflecting off the snow during winter. A small stream gurgled threw the cavern. Though still hot the room seemed far cooler Ash ran to the pool taking a large mouth full straight from the stream. Immediately he spit the water out. Choking Ash vomited. The water tasted like death. Carefully he reached his hand in and took out a scoop the water was warm, and black. The kinda of black that scares you but you can still see threw. Letting the water drain out between his fingers Ash went to stand up. Falling over pain filled his head. Blinking a few times he realized it was just a nightmare. Drenched in sweat the sheets made him feel like he was swimming. Tears stung the sides of his eyes. His whole mouth tasted like bile. Blinking a few more times Ash still felt the heavy air. It felt as if it was still going to crush him in fact it felt even heavier than before. Everything felt overwhelming. It felt as if it took the effort to run a marathon just to get a few ragged breaths in. Ash realized he had been holding his breath. Ash breathed sat in the silence letting his mind wander. Enjoying the sounds of the night. Tears fell down his face but he didn't stop them
