Chereads / Reincarnated: The legendary moon sword / Chapter 4 - Running with the sword

Chapter 4 - Running with the sword

(DeV co personnel's POV)

The light's intensity slowly dissipated, automatically switching off my protective eye wear.

He ran away

*Beep Beep Beep*

An incoming call sparked my wristcomm to life. I answered it despite my reluctance to do so.

A hologram then sprang up from the wristcomm, displaying the image of a young man also donned in one of the most recent mech suit prototypes our organization produced.

"Dela, what's the mission status?", he asked impatiently.

"Still in progress", I replied with a brief sigh.

A sudden irritation burst out from him, "Tch, using you for this was a bad idea in the first place. Retrieve the sword immediately, the general has given you all rights to kill."

With that, he ended the communication. I sighed, he was younger and yet showed no respect.

"Reboot"

The three guard bots restarted, making themselves ready to execute my every command.

(The Moon Sword's POV)

I had no idea where all that light came from but for some awkward reason, we seemed to running down a really dark, dusty path in the middle of a forest.

'Where are you taking me?', I curiously asked.

"Hmm?", he slowed down a bit. "I should be asking why you haven't blasted me with an energy pulse or something. You wouldn't have asked that if you dealt with whoever was trying to steal you."

Hm, I was quite stunned at his response.

I only wanted to know more about this person. He seemed to pull me within his field and it had been decades since I met anyone like him.

Yes, he reminded me of my mistress and staying with him might've increased the chances of remembering most of my past life's memories.

Especially the documents on reincarnation I left behind. With those, I could've found a possible way of leaving the sword.

My thoughts were interrupted after the wave motion within my energy field began to fluctuate with vibrations which began to reach me from afar. I had an invisible field around me and it covered quite a large area whenever the moon was visible in the sky. Using the field, I could create shields, locate hidden objects and look farther ahead and around me than any other human could.

From what I was sensing, something was coming towards us and It was coming fast.

"Heh, they sure move quickily", the boy smirked. "Dzilaiza, bring it in."

A device around his right ear began to glow a bright blue colour as a human-like voice emanated from it.

[Dzilaiza: Affirmative]

Just then, a two-wheeled vehicle burst out from within the bushes and moved to our side. It looked so streamlined and the familiar blue colours smoothly moved around it.

"Perfect", he jumped onto the moving vehicle and suddenly, a helmet appeared over his head. "Storage cube."

A floating cube then appeared out of nowhere. He then proceeded to place me inside.

"Rest real good while I lose those fellas", he grinned. "Name's Seksulfur by the way."

Rest?

Was he seriously going to put me into a cube of such a small size?

That wasn't going to work

To my complete surprise, half of my entire form was already in the cube. It didn't take long until my entire form was inside the cube and I wasn't the only thing in that vacuum. Various other objects floated inside that space.

But I wasn't interested in any of that. I was more pulled towards what he was going to do to get rid of the DeV co pursuers.

Using my field, I pushed my vision beyond the cube's boundaries.

[Dzilaiza: Neutron Cycle at full energy]

The source of the voice from earlier seemed to be coming from the cycle.

"Good", Seksulfur looked back. "Okay, their speed surpasses my expectations."

Behind him was the large vehicle from before, tearing through the trees at an insane speed and It only kept getting closer with each passing second.

To think an object that big would be able to move that fast.

"Dzilaiza, accelerate", Seksulfur commanded.

The cycle began to pick up speed as well, leaving the woods and heading for a tunnel that was lit with bright lights.

"They'll probably interfere with the cable tunnel. Dzilaiza, release a lockdown virus into the tunnel's circuitry."

[Dzilaiza: Releasing virus - Form 1]

The cycle burst into the tunnel, making the bright orange colours appear surreal as they seemed to fade as we moved. Those lights didn't stay cheery for long however. Extremely dark shades of red soon painted the entire tunnel in a thick red.

[Dzilaiza: Injection complete]

An evil grin spread over Seksulfur's face, "Activate the virus the second we're out of this tunnel."

[Dzilaiza: Understood]

I only kept silent, staring in awe as he communicated with an object that wasn't supposed to speak in the first place.

Ha! I'm an exception. I'm legendary

Could it be that someone is communicating through that cycle?

[Dzilaiza: Approaching exit]

Seksulfur zoomed out of the tunnel and into a bright light that blinded my vision for a while.

[Dzilaiza: Virus activated]

'D- Damn it, I can't see-', my words died after the bright light faded away.

(Dela's POV)

[Malware activity detected]

"Hmph", I glared at one of the many holographic screens that surround me.

That pesky person released a lockdown virus into the cable tunnel right before I could hack into it.

No vehicle to get through to Cell City now that it had been shut down.

And to think I'd have this much trouble with the mission.

That so-called legendary moon sword piqiued the interest of the higher-ups so much that it began to get me interested as well.

Just what did that blade contain? Our organization wouldn't go after things that had myths or religious background surrounding them. Those were topics thrown away by man thousands of years ago and now they were just relics from the past, museum artefacts, history.

If something based on pure myth such as that sword has taken the interest of the organization's heads then that means only one thing...

That blade may not be what we think it is

[Virus exterminated]

The tunnel lit up once more as it began to open its gates.

My attention shifted to the voice of my robotic companion, "Good job Xylon."

A glint of death sparked in my eyes as we moved into the tunnel.

Things were going to get bloody
