(This takes place back on the planet where Azabache comes from)
After a long and perilous journey the Great Hero Erwin and his friends have finally made it to The Great Castle of the Great Demon Lord Azabache.
Borthus: "So, we're finally here"
They have experienced many hardships on their journey. It truly was a 'great' journey.
Anabel: "Don't let your guard down, Borthus"
Borthus:"I know, I know, but just thinking about what we went through. I can't contain my excitement!"
Erwin: "Right now, the only thing that matters is vengeance. That fiend will pay!"
Josephine: "Erwin..."
Everyone vividly remembers that day when Azabache murdered Erwin's brother. Now that they were so close they all can only think about revenge.
Borthus: "Alright, I'm fired up. It's time for revenge! Let's do this! "
Anabel: "Good grief"
Josephine: "Erwin, I know how much you want revenge but clear your head"
Erwin: "Thanks Josephine, I'll be careful"
Then, they opened the gate to Azabache's castle.
They were prepared for many things, evil monsters beyond their imagination, powerful servants underneath Azabache, slaves in peril, or even a luxorous castle that The Great Demon Lord Azabache would just laze around in.
But none of that was here.
Instead, all they saw was the corpse of Azabache.
Erwin: "Wha- this can't be"
Anabel: "He may be pretending to be dead, stay alert"
Erwin: "That bastard. How dare he make a mockery of us. Show yourself, villain! We know you're still alive!"
Borthus: "Fight me, you coward! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Josephine: "Perhaps someone killed him already?"
Erwin: "That's impossible, we were the only heroes to come here, remember?"
Anabel: "Look, he is holding the balde of darkness. And that blade is inside his chest"
Borthus: "Is that for some kind of spell in order for him to get stronger or something?"
Erwin: "So the power to kill my brother was not enough, what a greedy bastard"
Anabel: "No heartbeat. And his corpse seems to have been rotten for at least a month now. From the looks of it, he is really dead. I'll look for traps"
Erwin: "Really dead, huh. Why would he kill himself without a motive"
Josephine: "Perhaps he was feeling guilty for his crimes"
Erwin: "That's impossible, you saw his face when he killed my brother, not a shred of remorse. He killed him in cold blood. He didn't care one bit for the lives that he sacrificed. There is no way a fiend like him would every feel guilty for what he has done"
Borthus: "Ughhhhhh, I wanted to fight"
Anabel: "Good grief, Borthus. You have muscles for brains"
Josephine: "This isn't the time to be fighting amongst ourselves"
They then heard footsteps coming from the above floor. It seemed to be from a demon.
Anabel: "Stay alert"
They then saw a demon that was humanoid with a snake as its tail and snakes instead of fingers and toes. When it came down the stairs and saw the 4 heroes it said "oh".
Erwin: "Oh? Is that all you have to say for our arrival. Where is Azabache?"
Snake Demon: "Master is right there. He's been dead for a month now. He said something about not earning any victories and then killed himself. I used to be a general for one of the demon armies but master is dead now. I was just looting some of his valuable items. Now if you excuse me I'll be going now"
As the snake demon casually walked out the door the 4 of them stood in shock. They were silent for a full 5 minutes before Erwin said something.
"Not earning . . . victories? Is that really a reason to kill yourself? Of course he didn't 'earn' any of his victories, he was the demon lord for God's sake! What the hell is going on?"
Borthus: "Well, there is no fight so I'm going home"
Anabel: "For once I agree with you"
Anabel and Borthus walked out the door heading home, leaving Josephine and Erwin behind.
Josephine: "I know these are confusing times, but I will always be by your side Erwin"
Josephine smiled sweetly as she said this. Erwin didn't care.
His reason for existing.
His revenge.
The entire journey for the sake of his perished brother.
The reason was gone.
Erwin no longer had a reason to do anything.
Erwin walked over to the corpse of Azabache.
Josephine: "Erwin?"
Erwin took the blade of darkness from Azabache's stomach and pointed it towards himself.
Josephine: "ERWIN! STOP!"
Erwin didn't listen and stabbed himself. Josephine cried but it was too late.
Light faded from Erwin's eyes.
And Erwin's vision went black.
