Zeev POV
Harlee had stripped the sheets and had the water running when I returned. I stepped into the bathroom and stripped, sliding the shower door aside, I stepped into the large shower to see Harlee's happy grin.
"What? How? When did you decide this?" I asked, confused. It's not that I was necessarily unhappy, it's just that I was.. shocked.
"Oh.. it was spur of the moment. You mentioned it a long time ago when you were dying once I think. And it ran through your head a couple times as more of a lustful Demon idea thing before that, but Josh is always being an asshole about 'Rosemary's baby' this and 'Rosemary's baby' that. So I thought I'd give him a bit of a shake-up." Her eyes twinkled as she wrapped her arms around me. "Besides, you said it yourself-we're never going to be out of danger-so what am I waiting for? Let's try to settle back into a normal pattern, and then see how things develop." She stroked a finger down my abdomen.
"Harlee, these kinds of things can be difficult for both parties. Are you sure you want to go through with this?" I hedged. I knew I was the one who originally brought it up, but I had planned to wait-until she fully transitioned into a Demon before I made the proposal.
"I don't want the human side of me to be completely erased from this world." Harlee leaned her head against my chest. "I'm already losing it. Is it too much to ask that a little piece of me gets carried forward?" I flinched. How did I argue with that?
Harlee POV
I groaned as I looked at the house. This was going to take forever, and a fortune, to fix.
"Leave it to me, My Lady." Zeev murmured, kissing the top of my head.
"No, I'll help. I don't want you exhausting yourself anyway." I blushed. He hadn't officially agreed to a time or date or anything, but I was keeping my hopes up. He ruffled my hair lightly and chuckled. I ducked out of his reach.
"That blush makes me want to take you right here and now." He purred and I blushed harder, but he breezed passed me to start tidying the kitchen. I took a small tour around the house and decided that the bathroom was the least destroyed, and probably the most needed, so I'd better start there.
I unhooked the torn shower curtain, picked up the scraps of rug, swept away the remains of several hundreds of dollars in bathroom essentials, which made me cringe, especially the sanitary products and toilet paper. I started making a mental list of things I'd have to replace that I probably didn't even have money for.
"Still in this one room?" Zeev chuckled at the doorway.
"Hey-some of us are still human and don't have Demonic powers to help them set things right." I argued.
"Oh dear, are we jealous?" Zeev stepped into the bathroom and grabbed me by the shoulders, kissing me suddenly. "Although, using those powers has made me a little hungry." He licked his lips. "You may have to feed me Mistress." He purred.
"I have a broom and am not afraid to use it-you, get back to work." I shoved him away with a blush. He chuckled and left. As I shoved all of the garbage into a large trash bag, Zeev returned with several shopping bags and a package of toilet paper tucked under one arm. He'd apparently plucked the list from my head.
"That and I noticed how many of your things were destroyed. If I missed anything, just let me know." He shrugged.
"Oh Zeev, you didn't have to do that!" I still wasn't entirely sure where the money came from he used, but it made me feel bad he was using it on me.
"Nonsense. I can't let the future mother of my children go without, now can I?" He replied with a twinkle in his eyes, then turned on his heel and was gone.
"Wait-children?" I asked and heard him chuckle from another room.
By the time I got everything wiped down, all the smeared toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner cleaned up, and the new items put in their respective places, I was exhausted. And the rest of the house was still a disaster! I groaned, and walked out of the bathroom, wincing to see where I should start next. The house was... nearly spotless.
"Zeev! I told you not to exhaust yourself!" I gasped.
"I haven't." He said from behind me. "I did most of this with actual grunt work, not time manipulation or anything. I just used my ability to move more swiftly and accurately than you to get it done faster." His eyes twinkled again. I swatted him.
"You're a jerk, you know that?" I asked.
"I'm afraid there are some pieces of furniture that need to be replaced still. The sofa was ruined, so I thought you might like to pick out a new one." Zeev offered.
"Whatever you choose is fine, I'm sure." I replied dismissively. He had much better taste than I did, the damn Demon. "Just try not to make it too pricey, you know?" I cringed and he chuckled.
"The TV stand I repaired, but did have to replace the TV. I'm afraid the kitchen stools are new too and there's one other item that need to be replaced.."
Zeev POV
Harlee and I stood staring at the destroyed bed. The Fallen seemed to have poured a lot of his anger and hostility into this item. Maybe he didn't appreciate the way our scents mingled on the sheets. Or maybe it made him jealous. One would never know. No part of it was salvageable. The mattress was torn to shreds, springs exposed and bent, the frame mangled, headboard broken, he'd even sliced up and broken the box spring. I tsked.
"So much anger over something he'd never have. He should have tried giving a Bond a try, it would have made him happier." I remarked.
"So we're going to have to go bed shopping? Like, as a couple?" Harlee asked, blushing hard. I chuckled again and turned to run a finger down her cheek.
"What's gotten you so shy all of a sudden?" I questioned her, leaning closer to fluster her more.
"It's just, I mean, after what I asked the other day-you never said.. And I've tried to stay out of your head to give you space to think about it.." Harlee stammered. Ah, so that was it. She thought her request had upset me. I moved so that there was barely and space between us.
"I plan to honor your request. You made several valid points. I'll need some time to prepare, but, should we also be looking at cribs tomorrow?" I purred. I was still stroking her cheek and brought my face to hers.
"What?! So soon?! These things take time you know! Even for human couples!" She exclaimed. "And I didn't expect you to give in so easily." She mumbled. I chuckled again.
"Should I wait to prepare then?" I asked, withdrawing from her. She grabbed my arm.
"No! I... don't know, when we'll have another space of time like this, where we don't have a sword hanging over our heads.." Harlee blushed again. "I'm afraid to wait, in case next time something happens, I don't come out of it.. human anymore." She turned her face away and my heart ached for her. I pulled her to my chest, my teasing air gone.
Harlee POV
Zeev cleared out the mess of a bed for the night and brought in an air mattress he said he borrowed from a friend, but I had the sneaking suspicion he had purchased as well, but was carefully hiding the information from me in his mind. By the time it was all said and done though, I din't care and gratefully collapsed on it.
"What about my clothes-I never even looked-"
"I'm afraid there isn't much left besides what we brought back with us. We'll need to replace those as well." Zeev responded quietly.
"And your stuff? I know you don't need the stuff we buy for you on occasion, but.."
"Also destroyed." Zeev answered.
"Of course" I sighed. "Forget it, I'm too tired to care right now." I struggled out of my shirt and pants while still lying down and tossed them on the floor.
"Is that how you intend to sleep?" Zeev asked, eyeing me in my underwear and bra.
"Uh yeah, obviously. You've seen me naked at least a thousand times." I closed my eyes. "Why?" I heard Zeev's clothing rustle and the sound of something soft land on the floor as Zeev paced towards the mattress.
"It's just, you should know better my Lady." Zeev purred, and I felt the mattress shift as the air within it was pushed towards my head. There was a change in the feel of the room abruptly as Zeev's skin brushed mine and I looked down to see him hovering over my lower body on his hands and knees, crawling his way towards me, Demon eyes glowing in the dark. My breath caught in my throat.
"You should know better, My Lady." He purred again. "Than to tempt a Demon."
