Lexington city, June 2001.
1:00 am,
In this dire night, the dark forest can be costly. Lexington city isn't
very celebrated about paranormal activities, but the time is
execrated now. Not a single soul can be endow inside the forest,
after 6 pm. And in this queer atmosphere, a car is going by, at an
average movement. Music with a loud bass may tempt the asleep
ghost to them. Both sides shielded with dark forest, even tress isn't
visible.
The speed briefly picks up, a couple in the car.
'Slow down, it's dark.' Girl said.
The guy attacks the accelerator with his leg, changes the gear for
next.
'Chill-pill, it's fun.' He said.
The car scopes the highway, where the right is a valley and left is a
forest covered with the darkness of night. The speed is just
advancing and comes an abrupt turn to the left. He turns the
steering left with a fast motion.
Another car comes in the way, from the front. The guy rapidly
moves the steering to the right and pulled the brakes.
But the other car's motion isn't going down, as a result, it crashed
with the couple's car.
Next morning,
A police car paused at the scene, along with 2 officers and other
investigators. Officer Kevin Lopez, with his senior Albert Liam,
they are standing to stick to their car. Supervising the investigators,
doing their job. Wearing a uniform, white shirt and black pants
and white gloves, one investigator possess a diary noting the sole
detail about the victim's car. Another investigator with a camera,
convoking the images from different angles. The guy with the
diary falls towards Kevin.
'Found anything?' asks Kevin.
'Not yet, it's district hit by another car and maybe they ran away.'
Says Brian, noting something in the diary.
Albert scratches his head.
'But the sin is, that nobody was instituted in the car.' Brian says.
Kevin laughs, by clapping his hands.
'Good, so the car was driving itself. Right?' Kevin says.
'I didn't say that.' Brian said.
'So, say something, which gives us relief. Pressure is upon me.'
Albert says.
'Sir, we ground two car tire marks on the road, it clearly says that
someone hit that car. And they ran away after the accident, maybe
in fear or they are intending to do that.' Brian rapidly says.
Kevin takes a look towards the car,
'Found anything inside?' Kevin asks.
'Not yet.' Brian says.
'Did anyone seen the crash?' Albert asks.
Brian sighs,
'No, we haven't got any eye surmise.' Brian answered.
'Have a chat with the locals here, they must have heard something.
The car clanged hard, also impede out the entire area within 3 km.
I am guessing where have they gone?' Kevin says.
'On it, sir.' Brian says.
And reached towards the car,
Albert and Kevin open the car door, preparing to leave. Brian
shouts, 'sir, come here.'
Both Kevin and Albert looks each other, wondering what's the
matter. They hasten towards the car, takes a pause beside Brian.
'What happened?' Albert asks.
Brian points a finger, towards a lone house established just a few
miles from the spot. The vision was blocked by the trees, the peak
of the apartment can be seen.
'What do you mean?' Albert asks.
'Sir, this is the nearest shelter from here, I guess someone have
heard or seen something from there.' Brian says.
'Got a good one, let go.' Kevin says.
They three set on foot, way towards the house, after bestowing
leave to other investigators. Now the house is seen clearly, still
some steps away.
Albert gulped,
'Are we seriously going there?'
Brian stops and looks towards Albert,
'That's how you became my senior? Sir.' Brian taunts.
'Don't be scared it's nothing, just an abandoned house.' Kevin says.
'But don't you feel strange that a house here on this, sleepy hollow
road, where no one is here, but a house?' Albert says'.
'He is blasted, I can see it'. Brian says.
Both Kevin and Brian laugh with a high-fi.
Then all of a sudden, the metal gate opens itself with a creak
sound. This catches their attention, they looked at each other, with
a fear on their face.
'I am right, I guess.' Albert says.
'Must be a force of air.' Brian says.
'This guy is going out of my mind, like we are standing here a
wave opened the gate, but we are standing still like a statue?' Kevin
taunts.
Brian looks at Kevin, extracting his eyes.
'I am leaving.' Albert says.
And he starts leaving the place, shadowed by Kevin. Brian takes a
suspicious look at the apartment. And starts leaving with them. A
cell phone gravitating in the garden of the house.
1:00 am,
As the heavy night rises, Brian is sleeping on his bed wearing
boxers.
'Don't do that, someone will catch us.'
Talking in his sleep, maybe about to make-out with his girl.
'Cough… cough'
The phone on the bedside table starts beeping loudly, which makes
him awake.
'What the hell?'
The beep was too vociferous, Brian shields his ear with his hands.
'My head is gonna blast.'
He can't hear his hold voice, his voice is compressed under the
beeping. He looks at the phone. Gains some heroism, cull it with
his customary hand, while the other still on the ear.
He unlocks the cell, and the beep blocks.
His face reaped a confused reaction. Eyes went small, mouth semi
open, the nostril spread.
'This is strange.'
He grabs a notification at the top,
'All this just for a single message?'
Brings the notification bar down, clicks on the message. The
number was unidentified.
He reads, '30 minutes left, Countdown begins…'
And the timer starts counting "00:29:59-00:29:58"
'What joke is this? What is this referring to?'
The timer still counting, he tries deleting the message, but it says
"error deleting messages."
He went frustrated, 'what is this?'
He smacks his lips,
He gets a call from, Kevin Lopez. He accepts,
'Hello sir, is everything alright?'
On the other end Kevin's breath was onerous, like he reverted
from running a k.m.
'Save me Brian, I am going to die.'
Brian gets up from his bed, removing the blanket.
'What happened, sir, be clear.'
Kevin's audio was cutting half-way, Brian isn't good at hearing
this.
'Sir, I can't hear you.. Where are you?'
'I am near the sleepy hollow road, near that house we saw.' Kevin
with heavy breath.
'What are you doing there?'
'Stop your QnA, I need your help.'
And the call disconnects.
Brian kept his phone in his track pocket. And went outside. It's
raining heavy, thunder striking the sky with a muscle impact.
Brian gets in his car, starts the engine but, isn't going the way.
'Come on you damn thing.'
After trying with no happiness, he gets out of the car. Starts his
way with his foot. Running through the wood, with a torch in his
hand.
'Kevin sir, are you there.'
Shouting on his way, he reached the road. Standing in the same
place as they were, yesterday morning.
'Hey. It's me Brian, sir, can you hear me?' he calls by covering his
lips corner, to get an echo
'Brian, I am here.' Kevin answers.
Brian got a happy smile,
'Where are you sir, I can't see you.'
Brian phone beeps again, he draws out the cell. Another new
message from the same number.
"1 minute left, Countdown begins…"
And again the timer went "00:00:59-00:00:58"
'Fuck this.' And kept the phone in his pocket,
He starts searching for Kevin, standing in his place. He saw Kevin
is waving at him from behind the tree.
'I got you, sir.'
And went running towards him, he reached the tree. He got
nothing, just a note down there. He picks it up.
The note reads "10 secs left, Countdown continues."
The tree was resting a few steps away from the house, the house
door opens with a creak sound. Brian takes a look at the door. The
note fell down from his hands, followed by the torch.
And an invisible force grabbed Brian inside the house, with a full
motion. The door closed, Brian screams,
And his cell phone thrown outside, beside the other one already
there.
The message got deleted,
The thunder strikes at the top of the house, and a loud scream rises
from the dark side of 'The Locked House'.
