Tessa had a dreamless sleep, which helped her feel rested and ready for the day. It was Monday. Had this been any other day she would be getting Teresa up and ready to go to the park or the movies for their first summer adventure. Sadness racked her heart as she thought of her baby sister.
She was sure that by now someone had found her family and would be looking for her. Was she ready to talk about it with another person other than Aiden? Could she leave her house? Or would she be isololated indoors until their murderer was found?
Tessa lay there lost in her thoughts when she felt the bed move slightly. She looked up at Aiden who was watching her with worry in his eyes.
"Good morning beautiful" he said as he stretched out his bones.
"Good morning" she replied with a small smile.
"Have you been up long? Are you hungry?" Tessa rolled her eyes a little, getting used to Aidens constant concern and worry for her.
"Aiden, I'm okay. You dont have to take care of me, if anything I should be doing more for you. Especially with everything you have done for me" her voice was hushed as she finished the last sentence. Shame and grief flashed in her eyes for a moment, and then it was gone. Replaced by a blank expression of hopelessness.
Aiden took her hands and waited for her to look up at him. Once her gaze finally met his, she relaxed a bit before he started to speak.
"I am an adult, as are you. I make my own decisions and I've decided that I want to take care of you, I want to help you. Lord knows where you would be right now if I hadn't found and just thinking of something happening to you drives me insane" Aiden punched the pillow beside him. Tessa has never seen someone so passionate about protecting her and keeping her safe. Was this love? Is this what it feels like?
Aiden took a calming breath and turned back to Tessa, "I'm sorry, I didnt mean to loose my temper, I just don't want anything bad happening to you."
Tessa cuddled up a little closer to him for a few moments before getting up and heading to the bathroom.
Once she was cleaned up and drsssed, she made her way downstairs. Aiden was coming back in from letting Beau out and headed towards the kitchen to start breakfast. Tessa made herself busy tidying up and playing with Beau while Aiden worked on the food. Once it was time to eat, they settled down on the couch and watched games shows to pass the time.
"So I was thinking," Aiden started between bites, "Maybe we can start our own little investigation. I think it would be good to at least who is after you and why."
Tessa thought about it for a moment and realized that there wasn't much else she could do about it so she just said, "I think that's a great idea!"
