Chapter 9 - Dragon Age Part 8 King Cailan

Arriving back, Thrasher had his troops join them while in the Forrest. Just 200 or so Savage Orks. Human of course in this World. Same as all the others. Basically to most with the tattoo's they had, they looked like Chasind or Free Marchers. This group looked all like Chasind. The bare minimum amount of clothing. Tunics, shoes, and thin shirts.

Info: Savage Orks are a notorious sub-culture of the Greenskin race. Formed by barbaric and fierce Ork tribes that wear no armor and fight with simply made weapons such as maces, sharp rocks, and clubs. They are considered a complete bunch of primitives, even by Orkish standards. Nevertheless, Savage Orcs are notoriously wild and ferocious, even more so than other Orks, and their enemies regard them as by far the most dangerous of their kind.

The moment they came in range to Thrasher, they shaped up a good bit from the pushing and showing they were doing. A lot of loud laughter was cut short from Thrasher looking at them. But it lasted only a few seconds when Thrasher gave them a full toothed grin.

"Ey boss. We ready for some crumpin." The Nob in the group said. His name was Krump. Thrasher sized him up and was happy with what he saw. He shook his hand passing updated D.G. cells to him. Which contained a mental upgrade about the mental enemy. As well as making it easier for the Savage Orks to control themselves outside of battle. "Har har.." his eyes flashed with delight. The Ogre's would be a great fight.

"You have a nice fine lot here. I name this Klan of yours.." Thrasher finished analyzing the memories of how they all fought. "... Skullrippa's." The ork humans cheered with glee. Scaring a good bit of the forces in the camp further up. They thought it was Darkspawn attacking. The naming of a klan by the Warchief was a good honor. "Alright, let's go on in and set up. Their is fighting to be had later."

Elissa came over to her cousin. Staring at the forces with intrgue. And a bit of envy. The look of freedom they showed was something she wanted for herself. The Skullrippa's followed behind as they moved in.

"So.. Trace told me a lot of things. As well as speaking to a lot of the people in camp. A good bit of the forces are aware of what Howe did. They do not act but.. I think we can press the issue even more so when this battle is over." Elissa said hopefully.

"I understand what you think will happen. But that does not mean it will work out like that. I assure you it will not end here." Thrasher shook his head as they broke off from the others. Tracker took over with the Savage orks. Taking them to the area where other forces of Thrasher waited. Just regular mercenaries he purchased around the area. One's who were shafted by Arl Howe. "But I will help you a little more cousin. You are just to lovely to let die here."

*Smack!* Elissa hit Thrasher in the belly with her backhand. Laughing at her cousin's words.

She received some paperwork that detailed a little about Arl Howe's involvement. As well as a little about Loghain's involvement. It was a test to see how she would use this to her advantage.

Instead of going to the area with the others to do the Joining, she and Thrasher head to the King's tent. Which Thrasher was hoping she would do. Getting him close to mess with the heads of the others.

.

King Caelin-

.

Inside the tent were a few Generals. Elissa represented her family and was allowed to enter. With ArlHowe having failed to sack the estate, the Cousland's still had power. The rumor mill suggested they were attacked by bandits. A few others saying the people under them revolted. Which was done by their, dissenters. Mallol had taken care of that as well as saving the Arl of Denerim, Urien Kendells. His son Vaughan, had hired a set of Antivan Crows to kill him on approach to the Ostagar.

Mallol passed over the mark of Thrasher to him. Leaving a few of the Ork humans with him to make sure he made it with his troops that survived as bodyguards. Urien was a good man. But paid to much attention to making sure hte kingdom was taken care of, and not his home. His son Vaughan was a rapist and sycophant. Killed by the Alienage revolt. Which Mallol was sent to deal with in the shadows. With Landra helping, it would be easier. As well as Urien. If he knew what was good for him that is.

"Lady Cousland, this is not the place to just barge in." Arl Howe sneered. He was having difficulties getting rid of the young woman as well as her family and troops. "Generals are discussing important matters. You should leave."

"Howe," Elissa did not play at any civility with the man at all. "I come with important words for the king. It may help fix things back home."

"Before any of you start fighting and name slinging, I would see what she has. As well as who is with her." King Cailan spoke. He turned to look at Thrasher. A sense of fear as if he was looking at a wild animal. A man among men that scared him more than any of his Generals are Darkspawn. "Are you the famed "Thrasher" of the Free Marches?"

An attendant passed the papers to Cailan Theirin. The table was was pretty wide. Loghain tried to take a look at letters but couldn't get a good glance at it. Which upset him slightly. He had respect for the Cousland's for what they did for the country. But their daughter joining the Grey Wardens soured that. He was happy that Arl Howe's plan failed. Of course, he wouldn't let that be known.

"I am." Thrasher said as if talking a regular person. Which he was technically. The number of people he respected was less than 10. The others, well they died. "You look.. tired. Bad vassals would do that to you. But you and your half-brother Alistair really favor your late father. A damn shame what happened to him though. Killed by the Crows. Which is really weird that they blamed the Orleans. Then again, Orlais and it's "game" make it to hard to tell if they have a hand in something or not."

System: Persuasion Check 33 Neutral

Thrasher's tone was enough to cause speculation. But to much was going on for it to matter much at the time. But the long wait, it would cause reflection in them. If.. he didn't kill them all right now out of boredom.

"No love for Orlais, not bad." Loghain commented.

"Love, in a way. They have their uses. But, I wouldn't trust them with things." Thrasher smiled. "A lot of people in the Free Marches know the tale of the Rebel Queen. Father's want their daughters to be like her. And warrior sons wish to marry a woman like her."

The area turned quite as Cailan started to frown. He spared a few glances around the room. His generals as well as his guards took a small breath when he put the papers down. Cailan passed the papers into the fire. Which made Elissa face scrunch in disgust. Thrasher kept a neutral expression. For the papers would release spores. Which would constantly affect each of them.

It was oderless, which was defintely good.

"Let it be known with all present.." Calian turned to them once more. "that Arl Howe will be investigated. For his hand in various crimes. Also for stopping my letters from reaching Orlais." He turned to Loghain. "I thought it would be you that did such a thing. I am sorry for doubting you. As for the rumor about my half brother, keep it quiet. The troops do not need the added troubles before the big push."

"Your Majesty, I did.." Arl Howe tried to speak but was silenced. Calian raised his hands up not wanting to hear another word. Hower stared daggers at Elissa. He hated her even more now. 'Dare to frame me child, you are to inexperienced. I will have this swept under the rug quickly enough.'

"Thrasher, your forces are welcomed to the battle. Will you be joining the Grey Wardens or fighting with us?" Cailan asked. His eyes searching over Thrasher and Elissa. He didn't believe everything he read. But some of it made him question things. The mention of an assination attempt happening in the battle did not bode well. Especially coming from one of his generals. 'Elissa is a striking woman and has resources at her disposal. I will have to draft up a way to appease her and the Cousland's. But I can not do anything at this time.'

"No way in the World am I joining the Grey Wardens." Thrasher scoffed in disgust. "Those nutjobs are worse than the current Templars I have come across. All them secrets. Gonna get a large amount of people killed if they keep it up. Blasted "Joining" ritual. Nonsense."

"I see. Well, good to know the Free Marchers are wary of them." Urien said. "I do believe it is getting late. And I would like to speak with you, Warchief Thrasher. If you have the time."

"Yes, it is late." Cailan said. Happy for the out that Urien provided. He dismissed everyone. Taking note that Thrasher had already stepped out. Not waiting for him to have done so. 'He is not a citizen of mine. So it makes sense. But I need to do some ground control.' He signaled for Loghain and Howe to remain back.

"Your Majesty, I think we should be careful of that man." Loghain said. "His reputation is pretty vicious from what I heard. And.. the way he gathers information, it is to good. As well as his forces. Several of the men have sparred with them. None have one."

"I understand the concern." Calian nodded agreeing. "That is why I did not offer him anything really. If he fights, less of our troops that will die." Unknown to Calian, and the rest, Thrasher was aware of everything they were saying. He was able to here some of it. With Tracker's hounds in the area, a lot of intel was gathered as well.

Thrasher spoke with Urien Kendells with Elissa. When Alistair and a few other Grey Wardens came around, to get Elissa the talks ended. But he had gained an ally in Urien. The Ork humans that guarded him before would guard him in the current battle plans. Making sure to keep him alive.

.

The Joining-

.

As they gathered for the ritual for the last of them. Ser Jory, Daveth, and Elissa were the last members. Tracker and Thrasher laid in wait in the shadows. To intervene as Thrasher saw fit.

Daveth, a wiry young man, but a good fighter was the first to hold the cup. Duncan gave them a speech that did not go overwell with Ser Jory and Elissa. Something about it bothered the two. Although he is apprehensive about the Joining, Daveth is willing to risk. If it means he can help defeat the Blight, be something more than a common criminal.
