The sky bled crimson like a rose with an unnerving color of extravagant beauty, blend with bluish orange; a remnant of the sun that has already set. A figure wafted through thick, leering trees and leaped, tiptoeing every bough along the way. She passed on them and seemed to move like the wind, as she maneuvered her way out from the dark forest through the route of the village.
She halted whilst she arrived toward her destination, and slowly raised the dagger from her boots. Little do you know, in the back of her mind, there was someone who witnessed the scene and lurked her every move.
She clutched the small dagger on her hand tightly, making the sharp edges of the shard pierced her palm. She crouched as she watches the zombies from the distance. When she was fumed in rage and unconsciously gripped the dagger when she saw that the zombies approached her. They even made the little girl as a bait.
Blood was oozing out as it painted the ground red. She didn't mind the pain as she stared blankly to the zombies surrounded by an unconscious little girl. The little girl was blindfold, same as her both hands and legs were tied with ropes. There's not even a wound that was trace from her.
She wasn't even moving yet unconscious. Not all zombies realized she was there lying on the ground unless she had a strong scent of blood. When the blood is denser, the more it attracted the zombies. If he or she makes any sound, that person will directly be eaten. If only she had a way to let the other zombies away from her. Then. . .
As for herself, she had noticed that she got wounded from the dagger, an idea came into her mind.
Seeing her chest rise softly, she knew she was still alive.
Without her knowing, the smell of the blood attracted the zombies nearby on which they noticed there was another presence, the sweet of aroma diverted their attention from the little girl. This smell made them follow and turned their head towards it as if they were addicted to it like a drug.
Forgetting the little girl, they slowly strolled forward and search that unbearing smell.
Her hand fidgeted. It started moving painting the ground with her blood. She couldn't stop her hand no matter what, it seemed to have a mind of its own. She wanted to stop that knife piercing her hand any further then run, but her mind says otherwise. 'That's it. That's it. Come here, you filthy bloodsuckers, man-eating flesh annoying pests.'
She was inwardly shocked but nothing was shown on her face as if she was in the body of a different person. She was aghast, her body no longer within her control, not even a bit. There was a burning sensation filled on her chest, spreading throughout her nerves, it was giving her an uncomfortable feeling. 'sᴏᴍᴇᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴡᴀs ᴡʀᴏɴɢ ʙᴜᴛ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴘᴏɪɴᴛ ɪᴛ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ɪᴛ ɪs. ᴡʜʏ ᴀᴍ ɪ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴛʜɪs ʙᴏᴅʏ?'
The zombies were slowly approaching at her, as the owner of the body held up her dagger in a challenging pose. No sword, no shield but a dagger is only she has right now. She could hear her mind, that the owner scolded for her obstinacy for not bringing her sword. She has to save her no matter what. a female voice echoed on her mind.
A figure appeared behind the scene with a familiar pin bearing the Achathianian royal crest adorned on his lapel. It was a Royal Guard, who sworn to protect the heirs. Even it was a vow for his King.
His eyes twitched, when he saw that woman intention, he never hesitated to shout at her.
"Your Highness, what are you doing?" her royal guard wanted to stop her, but her hand raised to protest him.
Another person trapped on her head spoke, 'ʜᴇʟᴘ'
She tried to speak but it didn't reach him, however, the body she was with right now, began to spoke its own.
"Go save my sister. If I can't make it alive, she will bear the next heir of the throne. "
The royal guard wanted to object, but her cold blue eyes stared at the man fiercely.
"There's not enough time, soon this place will be crowded by them."
The royal guard has no choice and grabbed the girl as Her highness as told. He placed her on his shoulder in a bridal style and took a last glimpse at her and said, "I'll be back." He silently prayed that Her Highness e would make it out alive. He settled his full trust in her.
He was about to leave but paused as if he was forgetting something. 'Here' the royal guard handed her the sword where she had left on her quarters. A glint flashed on her eyes, when she saw it. She was relieved he brought the sword with him. If not, she would have be using the dagger all by herself.
He said the last words, "Don't die." his words portray sincerity and seriousness.
All of sudden, his lips pressed into hers. She widened her eyes for his unexpected kiss. It started out with excruciatingly and deliciously slow, then gentle but passionate, started to speed up, where it became more violent kiss just like he was longing it for so long.
He never wished her to die at the very moment.
His fingers pressed in the back of her head gently. When a roar came to their side, the passionate kiss lasted for quite a while before their lips parted. Both individuals breathed heavily. Not after long, the confusion, and disbelief that was written on her face.
If the King knew that her bodyguard had feelings for her, would he punish him for such inappropriate behavior? He just stole her first kiss? Was he mad?
He smiled sadly when he saw her reaction. He knew she had to take it all slowly.
He fled, leaving the woman alone. She watched him retreat through the darkness and she hasn't noticed that her lips formed a sad smile. She honest didn't know how to react from his feelings that he showed to her. For now, the survival is her first priority on this fight.
Gray eyes were now all fixed to her. Those zombies consumed only one thought: So hungry! Eat her! Eat her! Eat delicious human flesh.
They all looked ugly and scary.
Looking at their appearance her face wrinkled in disgust as she raised her the long sword then charged. This will be a long fight. She thought grimly.
