The frozen statue that had previously been the warden stood still in the center of the room atop the platform. The prisoners watched in silence while I walked over to deliver the finishing touch on this demonic monster.
"H-Hey wait!" Tael managed to shout. "If you touch him you'll freeze solid too."
I turned to face him. "Huh? How does that work?"
"There's this barrier of sorts that's preventing the thermal energy from transferring to anything else, but if you touch him then the barrier is pushed away and it transfers to you. Since it's at absolute zero, you'd instantly freeze."
…
Okay. That's far more dangerous than it appears to be. I just thought it was a really strong freezing spell, not something that literally defied the laws of thermodynamics.
"Uh… We're still stuck in here for now, so it's not dead yet is it?" Kany asked as she approached the frozen monster.
