A rock struck my head as I fell to the ground. The searing pain as I felt the heat of my blood escape me forced me to stay conscious.
"Is it really true that he's a mundane?" One of the boys asked their friend.
"Yeah! Check it out. No matter what you do to him he just sits there!" The friend answered as he threw another rock at me, hitting my shoulder.
In the past I would stand up and try to retaliate, but after repeatedly being beaten and the exhaustion that would follow, I've taken to simply waiting out their attacks. They lose their will to continue rather swiftly when they realize I won't do anything.
A few more rocks found their way being hurled in my direction. Some hit, others struck the ground beside me.
I simply sat on the ground and awaited the end of the bombardment.
After some time…
The tallest boy slouched in disappointment. "Ugh… He's turtling again." He muttered. "Come on, let's go home."
