The buildings we were currently in was one of the biggest building around. It was by pure dumb luck that we entered this exact building. It consisted of four buildings connected by a bridge leaving only a small area on every corner open, preventing it from becoming a hollow box. These four buildings were filled with apartments except for one that has become a hotel. By doing so there was multiple areas inside of it including, but not limited to, a kitchen and a tool shed. These two places are important because they might have something that we'll need, and this was why we were as lucky as we were. Because one, we will need food and water which we'll probably find in the kitchen, and two, if they really were like stereotypical zombies then we'd probably need something to fight with in order to survive. '.... you have to bash there brains in order to kill them right? That's not going to be fun...' .... I suppose I should tell the others.. "while we are here I think we should look around for something we might need." it was met by silence. The other two were just staring at me. It was kinda unnerving to say the least. "how-how can you be so calm about this?! We just saw someone get killed and then we were chased!" Well I suppose Matthew had a point, and I didn't really have an explanation for them. "I don't know... I just am apparently.. maybe it's the adrenaline?" "Matthew just calm down. Sarah isn't the only one that is being rational about this. I am too, and you need to get your priorities straight." "I am perfectly calm. And you guys are just heartless monsters no better than the ones outside." "what did you just say-" "before you two start arguing again, let me just ask you something. Do you want to live? Do you want everyone here to live? or do you only want the strangers that yell 'help' to you to live? And not care about the other that you get killed in the process." "well I.. I" "Sarah is right Matthew. doing something like that might just put others at risk, and would you really be able to handle that? Besides it was too late for Mr. Patrickson anyways, there was nothing anyone could do." silence. It seemed like he was considering our points. Hopefully he'll remember that in the future and this won't become a repetitive problem. "Enough about that. Let's just move on and try to survive, alright?" After a pair of agreement we went on with searching for something useful.
There wasn't much to find in the hallways and as we weren't able to get in the rooms themselves, it was simply a waste of time. It was only when we got to the kitchen that we found something. What we found was those 'zombies' scattered around the kitchen and dining room. So it was decided that we'll ditch that, for now. And instead the shed sounded much more appealing. So that's where we went. The shed was located to the left side opposite of the kitchen, and as it was empty around it we made a beeline to it, somehow without alerting them. Now the only thing separating us and them was a huge pool that occupied most of the area. The only downside was that the shed was locked at all times, and only staff had the key. "Its locked. What do we do now?" Amber looked around nervously trying to get the location of every 'zombie'. "Dont worry, I knew someone that worked here, and he said that there was a spare key hidden on the side of the shed." Matthew while reaching for the key, explained mostly to calm down Amber. "when we're in the shed, grab whatever you can that would be useful." As the door opened it emitted a loud creaking noise echoing across to the other side. It wasn't loud enough to get the attention of all of them, but a few were headed this way. Then out nowhere they walked straight into the pool, and from the looks of it, they went able to get back up either. It was so out of the blue that it almost startled me. The same seemed to have happen to Matthew and Amber. The scene itself reminded me of a game I've played before. Anyway, the shed had everything we needed. From a few basic tools to things like axes and a saw! Who knew there was so much in this tiny shed. The downside to this was that, one we couldn't carry everything, and two, most of these tools are old and fragile. From the looks of things after looking around, there was about four or five items that can actually be used. Looking at it like that, me, Matthew and Amber picked one thing each to use, while the last other item where carried in a duffel bag we somehow found in here after looking. I myself picked a hatchet as its sharp but not to heavy, Matthew picked a baseballbat as he said that a heavy blunt weapon would be best for him, Amber decided to go with a knife she found. Now the question was; how were we going to get into the kitchen? 'cant we just lure them into the pool with the others..? no that wouldn't work, they were already trying to climb on each other.' "What do you guys think we should do?" "Is there not a basement next to the kitchen? One of us can open the door and than get away, the other can throw something in there to create a loud sound to lure them over and than the first one can close the door again." Amber, with har master planned explained but it seemed that Matthew wasn't entirely on board with it. "Where is the last person going to be? and just who is going to do this?" "The last person will make sure nothing attack us from behind, and who will do what we'll come to an agreement over."
After a bit of discussion it was decided that I would open the door, Amber would throw something in and Matthew would take care of any strays. Now the only thing left to do was set it in motion.
It was scary, being so close to them. It felt like they could just suddenly attack me and I would be powerless to stop it. Though there is no turning back now. The pounding in my ears grew louder and louder the closer I got to the door. The door was now right in front of me and as I reached out to open it, one of the zombies started walking towards me. I was stuck there. I couldn't leave and opening the door was too risky. The only thing I could do was stand there and hope it doesn't notice me. It was than that Matthew got closer to where I was of to the side and started to whisper-yell to the zombie, drawing it's attention away from me. I took the opportunity and opened the door then immediately backing away. Amber took her cue and threw a rock into the basement. She got a lucky shot as it crashed into some metal, making a lot of noise. Almost immediately all of the zombies ran to the basement, and as soon as all of them was there I locked the door. "Great job guys! Now we should gather the food." Amber's excited voice waved through the air. "Already on it!" Matthew could be seen from the kitchen filling the duffel bag with food. "Remember to grab things that last over long periods of time!" I reminded them as if I didn't they would have filled it with easily rotting food.
After we were done filling it up we began walking back towards the others at the library. This was proving more difficult than imagined, as not only was it dark and we were tired, but it seemed that the zombies were more active during the night and so it was impossible to get far without stumbling upon them. But at last they made it just as the sun was rising. As they entered something seemed wrong. Why it was like that was quickly found, no one was there. No matter how much they searched around for them the only thing that was found was blood. Luckily the blood didn't seem to come from any of the other but rather some of the zombies. 'did some of them sneak in, or were it already here from the start? And where did the others go?' "Do you think that if we follow the blood, we would find them?" Amber, who had been quiet so far, questioned while pointing to the direction of the blood. "Maybe.. but it's the only lead we have" Matthew started to follow the blood stains quickly followed by me and Amber. After a while of walking we came across a hospital.
