Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

The moon was high up in the sky and its light reflected into the lake making it glow in a beautiful silver light. I didn't know why, but I was always drawn to this lake, I just had the feeling that it was calling to me. Most of the time I disregarded it as just my imagination, after all how could a lake call someone, even though it is one of the most beautiful spots on our island, with it's clear water and the cliffs on some of it's coast. The water, which falls into the lake from one of the three waterfalls, stirring up the surface and constantly changing how it reflects the light.

Who would not be drawn towards a place like this, who would not want to just wander around it's shore looking at the water and listing to the waterfalls, so I always thought it was just my imagination which took a hold of me when I thought, the lake would call to me.

This evening I was just wandering the beautiful shore after a long day at work in the harbor, unloading goods from sky ships and loading them back up. I was a little jealous about the sailors of these flying miracles, they get to see the world, the other lands and I, I never even left this island, don't get me wrong it wasn't that I wasn't grateful for the life I had here, it was peaceful living with my aunt and uncle. They've took me in when I was just two years old, after my parents suddenly vanished. That might be the reason why they have always been a little overprotective. They were afraid that I would vanish as well.

I kept walking around the shore until I thought I heard someone or something. I stopped for a moment asking loudly, "Is anybody here?"

I didn't get any reply, so I continued walking until I heard the same sound again. It sounded like small steps on stone. I turned my head towards a small formation of rocks to my left and slowly walked over to check what made this sound. I looked around it, at first, I didn't see anything but suddenly I heard the sound again. It was really close, and I looked down to see parts of the shell of a broken egg and after looking all the way down to my leg, I was surprised by what I had seen.

A small dragon not taller than my knee was standing there and started to move his head toward my leg and slightly rubbed it against my knee. I backed off a little bit in shock, after all nobody has seen a dragon in nearly a thousand years; but the hatchling just started to follow me and look up at me. Its silver scales looked just like the lake reflecting the moon light; and; on its head it had two small horns.

I looked at it for a moment before I got down on my knees and reach out my hand to pet the top of its head. It was surprisingly soft to the touch. He leaned in and rubbed his head against my extended hand.

"Where are your parents, little one?" I asked as I kept petting the dragons head, I wasn't sure if I expected an answer or not, but after a couple of minutes of petting the young dragons head he walked over to my bag laying on the ground next to him.

I opened it and got out a couple pieces of dried meat and extended my hand toward the hatchling. "You must be hungry, little one," I said with a smile on my face. The dragon let out a small sneeze with some smoke as a tiny spark formed in his mouth, before eating the meat, which I handed over to him.

I let out a small laugh, as the young dragon took the last piece of meat with his mouth out my hand. He chewed on it for a moment, before swallowing it. After he was done with the food, he looked at me and raised his front left paw towards me. I got down a little closer as he placed his paw on my forehead.

All my senses went black for a moment, before I started to see a small light in the distance.

"The time has come" I heard an old majestic sounding voice in my head.

"Who are you?" I asked. I wasn't sure if I would get any reply, after all it was just a voice in my head, right?

"I am Aflyn, I am the one chosen by the five arch dragons to aid you and your new companion on your path" The voice replied now louder and clearer.

I looked around for a moment, since I had no idea what this voice was saying and there, I saw him, the young dragon from just a moment ago standing there right by my side.

"Nesurrinth" another clearly younger voice spoke in my head as I looked at the dragon, it must be his name.

"So, you are Nesurrinth" I spoke softly as I got down to the dragon to pet his head. "Well I just gonna call you Nesu from now on okay?" I said with a smile on my face.

Nesu happily chirped in agreement, as the voice older voice spoke again, "You young ones both human and dragon, have the chance to save this world from evil, by gathering the power left by the five. One in the north, one in the south, on in the west, one in the east and the last one in the center of all, together these five powers in one will push back the darkness and save the world.

Everything went black again.
