And the better your next life will be the more merits – or good things, that you did. But, if you did a bad thing like lying or cheating, worse is committing a crime or a sin, then you will have a demerit and you will have a bad karma in your next life, which will make your life worse the more bad things that you did, or the heavier the crime or sin that you committed.
