At that moment when Elder Yume had suggested that they go to his home the feeling had acted up and he had lost control of himself and he had acted without thinking, challenging his decision, despite still being quite young himself.
It would have been okay if the feeling had kept control of him once Elder Yume struck back, but unfortunately the feeling had gone back to normal once Elder Yume was threatening to strike, and that worried Kapha. It proved to him that whatever was behind the feeling was only looking out for itself, working only for its benefits and abandoning him when things got truly bad.
He followed behind the group, trying to think about how he should solve his problem, and didn't notice they had reached Elder Yume's home. At least until Elder Yume spoke up.
//"Welcome to my home,"// he announced as they slowly approached a huge mountain with a large grove full of trees growing in a particularly flat part of the mountain. //"The famed First-Land mountain."//
His voice was laced with a bit of mental power that shocked Kapha out of his thoughts and dragged his attention towards what Yume was saying. As they drew closer to the mountain range Kapha began to feel a change in the air. It was slowly being permeated a mental energy that deviated from the normal one that was used. It sort of reminded him of the feeling he got whenever he looked through other people's memory.
//"As I'm sure you can feel, this First-Land Mountain is very strange. It contains a special kind of mental imprint that can only be done during the later stages of the life of the yemerey. Rather than talking about it too much, why don't you try it out for yourselves?"//
After Elder Yume said that Kapha turned and saw that Elder Chanis was smiling, a slight smile that most wouldn't be able to notice if they were not actively looking, sort of like the slight turning up of the edge of the lips, but Kapha caught along with Tarisi and the intent they caught from it made them slightly shiver.
//"Tarisi, Kapha,"// Yume called, //"Release your mental energy and try to sense the imprint,"// Then turning to the remaining yemes he spoke again. //"As for the rest of you, you don't have to worry, I'll take care of you."//
Kapha cautiously released his mental energy to sense the mental imprint that was saturating the area around him and immediately he was pulled into a vision. It started out simply, he was a yemerey, but he was a yemerey. He didn't have the same size but Kapha knew That that was what he was, he looked around him and soon realised that he was on a boat, surrounded by vast amounts of water.
He looked around and saw to figures huddled in one corner of the boat and immediately he felt a sense of protectiveness arise in him. He felt like the two figures were very important to him. And while the him in real life didn't know who they were, the him in the vision was very familiar with them.
//"Ru, Phu!"// he called out with a voice that wasn't his own, //"You can come out now, the rains are gone, the storm have passed."//
He stretched out his hand to the two figures and Kapha realised that one was bigger than the other. The bigger one shook his head and He felt sad. //"Why?"// He asked the figures.
The bigger figure pointed up to the sky before saying, //"It's going to rain."//
Kapha looked up and saw the sky that seemed to be split into two. To his left were the storm clouds that they had just passed through and to his right were endless blue skies. //"But there are no clouds in sight for miles!"// He announced but the bigger figure shook his head.
Kapha felt the person close their eyes and soon everything went dark.
Immediately after a loud cracking sound reverberated through his environment and what followed it was a low rumble. Immediately the person's eyes flew open. Heavy rain pelted him and Kapha felt wet and cold. The wind whistled past his ear and dark clouds could be seen everywhere. The waters rose to many feet above the boat and occasionally, the bright flash of lightning would pass through the sky and reflect over the water's surface. There was almost nonstop rumbling.
The person laughed and the salt water and rain entered his mouth. He was holding onto the boat's mast for his dear life. //"Ru!"// he screamed at the top of his voice. //"You were right! But this is more than a little rain!"//
The two figures were still huddled in their corner of the boat, holding onto themselves and shivering for dear life. The bigger one, Ru, merely shrugged. But soon after, an expression of shock made its way onto his face. He raised his hand and pointed behind him. The person immediately whipped his head around and the same shock that was on Ru's face appeared on his own.
A wave that seemed to reach up to the sky approached them. It rushed forth consuming all the other waves that stood in its path. It grew in height until it reached its zenith, then it started to crumble down, rolling into a tube shape as the top of the wave crashed into the ocean below it, where coincidentally their boat just happened to be passing by there.
The water filled the boat and soon they were pushed into the salt water below them. Kapha could feel the water rushing into his lungs like he was really about to drown and soon he became worried about his life Yet the person in the vision didn't seem to be concerned about his own life. The first thing that came to his mind was whether the other two would be able to survive.
He flayed his arms in an attempt to swim to the top, but he seemed to be unable to swim. His flailing arms seemed to get him nowhere and in an attempt to expel the water that was in is lungs, he ended up swallowing more. He sunk deeper and deeper into the water and as is lungs filled with water, his heart filled with despair.
The vision went dark again and Kapha was left in awe. Whatever the mental imprint was, the person that left it must have been very powerful in order to be able to make him feel like he was really the person in the vision. He was about to continue down this train of thought when the vision continued.
He felt something brush past him and soon a hand grabbed him. His eyes fluttered open and he caught sight of something moving quickly in the water. The thing seemed to shine in the waters and immediately he was gripped by fear. He tried to keep his eyes open but they were forced shut by some kind of pressure.
The vision went dark again but this time there was no silence. He heard a muffled sound, like someone was talking underwater, followed immediately by the sounds of a short battle, then the silence came. The person in the vision seemed to be floating in and out of consciousness, probably due to the lack of air, but somehow, he still managed to stay alive and alert.
Something grabbed his arm once more, but this time it was a little bit forceful. It tried to pull him down into the depths, but the person in the vision was prepared. His fist swung out, and although it was slowed by the water that surrounded him, it connected solidly and Kapha could feel what ever it was that was hit deforming.
Then as if that one swing had caused him to lose all his energy, he passed out once again. The vision went dark and silent, and the feeling of suffocation slowly descended on Kapha. But it was soon dispersed by what seemed like a blast of air filling his lungs.
His brain began to work again and he immediately tried to take a deep breath, only to be stopped by a hand that covered his nose and mouth. The person's eyes shot open and immediately saw the face of the thing that was preventing him from breathing.
It resembled a hairless monkey and it had its own hand over where its mouth and nose was supposed to be. The surrounding water stung his eyes, yet he kept them open. It was too dark for him to make out any details on the things face but he could tell the thing was nearby.
The things hand slowly left where its nose and mouth were supposed to be and slowly moved over to close his eyes. He tried to move, but his movements were restricted by some kind of pressure and it seemed lifeless and unenthusiastic.
Slowly the thing closed his eyes and he soon sunk down into a deep slumber. The vision went dark and silent for a while, before an unimaginably wonderful warmth touched his face, causing Kapha to realise just how cold the person was.
He had spent a lot of time in the rain, and had gone through numerous storms within a short interval. The cold seemed to have seeped into his bones, but when the warmth touched his face, the cold was easily dispelled. With that the person seemed to have been roused, and soon began to slowly get up.
He opened his eyes and looked around him. The sun shone brightly above him filling him with warmth the sky was blue without a piece of cloud in it. He sat a white sand that stretched as far as the eye could see and for a moment, he felt like everything was alright, he was at least alive. Then he realised that something was missing.
