Aranea scoffed as Zann stood up and walked away from everyone. He didn't intend to wait for them as he directly made way to the main hall for the assembly.
"What's his problem?" Aranea mumbled, making Elenea look at her and Vayne just shrugging his shoulders, not understanding why he was that cold.
"He's usually cold, Aranea. He's so full of himself sometimes," Vayne commented, making Professor Gertrude clear her throat to get their attention.
"And we have to make way to the assembly," she reminded them, making the three students nod, following her from behind.
The moment they have arrived in the great hall, Aranea and Elenea's eyes opened wide, their mouth agape as well. Vayne grinned seeing how amazed they are, then spoke.
"Amazing, isn't it?" he asked, making the two girls nod.
The twins looked at the sky and Elenea furrowed her brows to see that the ceiling unnaturally had light pillars.
It was beautiful, but how can this happen? Is this one of magic's wondrous works? If for Hogwarts their ceiling is bewitched, then Mystic Academy had something different.
"Elenea, those are light pillars, right?" Aranea asked, making Elenea nod.
A light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in which a vertical beam of light appears to extend above and/or below the light source.
The effect is created by the reflection of light from tiny ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere or that comprise high-altitude clouds.
But in this academy's case, it seems to be a work of magic. How extraordinary indeed.
As the twins have already gathered with the other freshmen students, Vayne had sat down with the other students, making Aranea and Elenea observe their surroundings. In the great hall, there are 4 long large tables made of oak.
In one table on the farther right, were students wearing robes with purple outlines. On the second table near them, were a group of students wearing robes with neon orange outlines. On the third table, students wore robes with neon green outlines and on the last table, the group of students wore neon blue outlines.
As they looked at the surroundings, Aranea and Elenea noticed that Vayne is in the table on the farther left table. He wore his robe having the neon blue outlines. As for Zann, he was in the farther right table and they saw that his robe has the proton purple outlines.
'Is this their way of identifying student differences?' Aranea thought as she cocked her head to the right, curious.
"Okay, freshmen, listen up!" Professor Gertrude called their attention, making all of the students look at her. "Now as per usual, we are going to sort you according to your class before we start with the assembly. Once you have been sorted, it will be your class for the whole 4 years of your stay here," she added, making the students nod.
"So it is like Harry Potter houses," Elenea mumbled beside her twin, making Aranea nod.
"As I call your names, come forward and Professor Samuela would be holding your palms to determine where you fit," Professor Gertrude instructed, making the freshmen quiet.
Professor Samuela walked and stopped beside Professor Gertrude.
She has curly blonde hair that was tied in a ponytail. Her eyes are as blue as the sky and her lips are red as cherries.
The dress she wore was black and fitted and it lengthened until her upper thighs, accentuating the curves of her body. Her brown knee-high leather boots paired her dress well, making her look like a seductive witch.
"Woah, she's beautiful!"
"What class does she teach?"
"I don't care. As long as she teaches, I would really listen!"
"What's so pretty about her?"
"Oh, shut up... you're just not pretty like her."
"I'm already excited!"
Hearing their murmurs, Professor Samuela clapped her hands once. The sound was loud enough for it to echo throughout the room, making her get their attention.
"Now listen up, newbies," she started, making the students widen their eyes, not expecting the sound of her voice.
'Why is her voice as low as a man's voice!?'
She snapped her fingers, making four flags appear in front of them. The students' blinked their eyes a few times as they listened to Professor Samuela speak.
"As you can see, we have four flags here. These flags represent the class that you are in. We have four classes which are Invicta, Magna, Communia, and Peculiari."
As Professor Samuela continued talking, the boys' expression turned sour. They still couldn't believe that the professor in front of them with a very high sexual appeal, turned out to really have a voice of a man!
Because of that, it had made the majority of the freshmen question the gender and sexual orientation of Professor Samuela.
Seeing how the men reacted, made the female students laugh as well, satisfied with how disappointed they are.
Professor Samuela walked to the purple flag. On the flag, a majestic Coeurl was seen on it.
A Coeurl is a beast that is described to be a feline with longer forelimbs and tentacles. It looks like a hybrid of a lion and a tiger, making it look like a majestic beast.
"Invicta is a class for students with powerful and/or rare magic which is known to have full potential. Like the Coeurl, they have high magic attack and can be great controllers of their magic."
The professor then walked to the neon orange flag. On the flag, it has an Anacondaur, a large basilisk fiend with three eyes. The beast's potential is hidden in its third eye, which usually surprises its enemy.
"Magna is a class for students with powerful magic, but it is capable to achieve great potential like the Invictas. Because of their magic, they are capable of surprising other people with the magic they possess."
Next, Professor Samuela stopped in front of the neon green flag which has an Ochu on it.
An Ochu is a gigantic plant fiend that is as big as a two-story house. It has flower petals as its dress, and it has four long vines, with sharp claws on the end.
"This flag represents Communia. It is for students who have common magic, but they are not lightly looked down upon. As common as their magic may be, they still have the potential to improve themselves and become powerful mages."
With that, Professor Samuela walked to the last flag. The neon blue flag had a Chimera on it.
The Chimera is a type of fiend born from the conglomeration of several fiends into a single composite entity. On the bull's main body, it has the head of a bull, an eagle, a wolf, and a snake.
"Lastly, Peculiari. This class of mages has rare, special magic. They usually have unusual and strange powers like the Chimera that represents them. As rare their potential may be, the Peculiaris are not to be looked down upon as well as they may also possess a magic that can be used for greater purposes."
The other seniors laughed, especially the students in Invicta, when they heard Professor Samuela's explanation of Peculiari.
The other students in Magna and Communia laughed too, making the students in Peculiari quiet.
The freshmen students turned their backs to look at the seniors laughing at the definition of Peculiari that Professor Samuela gave. It was enough for the freshmen to see that Peculiari class is a group of outcasts.
It made majority of the students pray that they wish not to be part of Peculiari...
"Peculiari... like its meaning, they are peculiar."
"A magic for greater purposes? Rather: magic for the purpose of laughing!"
"Who would want to be part of Peculiari?"
"It's like a circle of weird students!"
"They are weird!"
Hearing their murmurs escalate, Professor Samuela's eyebrow twitched, then when she took one deep breath and released it, she shouted, her deep manly voice bellowing inside the room.
"Silence!"
The room instantly turned quiet after she warned them. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, emphasizing her bust.
"I will not tolerate students speaking ill of these classes! Now be quiet and we shall proceed with the sorting! Do we have to go through this yearly? Disappointing!"
The students just stifled their laughs and the others rolled their eyes at the students who kept saying bad things about Peculiari.
The professor started calling names and announced their classes, making them sit with the other seniors on the table.
Aranea bit her lip, nervous and scared.
She came here not having any magic. So she wondered where could she possibly be sorted?
The girl thought that she could not be in any of the classes since she didn't have magic.
If Professor Samuela held her hand... where would she go?
How would people in the academy treat her once they know that she has no magic—one of her insecurities in life?
