The pack's link echoed with shouts of relief as the wolves turned to them one by one, temporarily distracted by her presence. Elize growled at them in irritation. How could have they been so careless as to let the children fend for themselves?! She thought in irritation. But one look around the place answered her question.
The wraiths had wreaked havoc around the settlement. The tiny houses that they had set up painstakingly only a few hours ago were more or less destroyed. There was no shelter to take refuge under nor any place to hide. No wonder they must have sent the children out of the settlement in hopes that they would be safe on their own. Huge mistake.
