Chereads / Persistent Consort(From Consort to Queen) / Chapter 16 - The Higher She goes

Chapter 16 - The Higher She goes

The Queen had not been able to have enough sleep since She Soya told her about her plan.

She paced to and fro in her chamber. 'Should I really accept her plan' She thought. 'She might try to use it to blackmail me. But it is her plan. The Crown Prince must also not die or else'. The Queen knew that apart from the Crown Prince Dong Min there was still the vicious Fifth Prince Yin Zhen who hated her. The Second and third Princes were given the posts of governors of the northern and southern states respectively because the King was not pleased with them.

If he were to be King, her position as Dowager will be at stake.

'I am going to agree on having the Crown Prince slightly poisoned'.

She then told her maid to send for She Soya in two days.

Meanwhile, She Soya was wondering why the Queen had not sent for her. As she was thinking of many possibilities, her maid told her about the arrival of Lan Lei.

Though She Soya was disappointed she asked her in. Lan Lei requested for tea and she was served. "I don't remember asking you to come" She Soya said pompously.

Lan Lei scoffed inwardly. 'Even Fei Shu treats me well, you who can't compare to her think you can talk to me this way' she thought.

Nevertheless she started talk.

"Well, Straight to the point. You have been quiet for a few days....." "By quiet what do you mean?" She Soya asked interrupting Lan Lei.

"What I mean is you haven't caused trouble for the Head Consort lately."

This sentence made She Soya burst into laughter making Lan Lei confused. After She Soya was done laughing, she sipped on her tea before saying "You really underestimate me dear sister. You just wait and see the higher she goes, the greater her downfall." Little did She Soya know that in years to come those words were going to be applied to her when she was at the peak of her glory.

Meanwhile, King Wei Dong Song was busy reviewing reports with the Crown Prince when an eunuch arrived and delivered more reports.

The sight of the report's made the King sigh. Despite it been so quietly, the Crown Prince heard it and turned to the King and said "Father, why don't you rest for and while and let me go on with this." King Wei Dong Song smiled at his first son. This boy pleased him in every aspect. He started to study and learn his duties as the Crown Prince at the age of ten after the death of his mother. He was now twenty and was ready to lead the country.

"Don't worry, my son. I can carry on." Then the King turned to his personal attendant and said "Tell the Head Consort I will grace her tonight." The attendant bowed and left to carry out the order.
