Chapter 4 - 4

Axel had always been a bad student since he starts learning at the royal academy at capital city of the kingdom Sutra. A royal academy is a place where nobles and talented commoners learned magic. As a spoilt person, rather than attending lessons, going to brothels and having fun is more important to him.

Axel may be a spoiled rotten but he also has his own good points. That is he has a lot of connections with other nobles. Whether nobles or mages, if they are a male, they would indulge in drinks or women. How should he say!

In this world, males are horny bastards who only look females with lust. For males, it isn't a strange thing for them to marry more than one woman. Those who are loyal to one woman in their whole life can be counted. In those counted people, his father was one of them. They are regarded as a strange creature in the view of those lecherous males.

Thus, the brothel is always lively whether it is day or night. As it is the capital city, the brothel was even more vibrant than other famous places. As a person who goes to a brothel more than he goes to the class, that place can even be considered his second home. As such, he has a lot of pals who goes there for pleasure. Thus he knows a lot of nobles and talented mage apprentices.

Thus, the brief history of his academic life. Well, for now, Axel needs to train his wind blade. No shit. His spell casting is sucked then a beast. A beast only knows apprentice-level spell and it can cast better than him. His goal at home, for now, is training to cast wind blade better and training his trashy physique and relearning footwork of his former world.

As Axel stands in the training field, he recalls the chant of the wind blade. In casting a spell, the chant must be correct and the correct magic energy circuits must be used. If not, well, you might die. Thus, he was trying to recall correct chant and correct magic pathways in using Wind Blade.

[O'Wind God, let this seeker borrow your benevolence... Wind Blade!]

Mages are people who seek the mysteries of the world had to offer. As such, they regard themselves as 'seekers'. In every element they use, a God governs. As such, they had to pay respect to the governing God to use it. Of course, if you reach a God tier, you no longer needed to pay respect to them anymore.

There also a chantless casting. Those who are blessed by the Gods do not need to chant to cast a spell. Usually, lucky ones will be blessed by one Elemental God. There's only one person in history who was blessed by two Elemental Gods. That's how much precious the blessing was.

Axel looks at the target circle a bit far from him as he chants the spell.

[O'Wind God, let this seeker borrow your benevolence... Wind Blade!]

Remembering the correct pathways, he chanted the spell. He felt like something was sucked out from him. Obviously, it was mana inside him. One spell took his all mana in his body. He felt like he was sucked dry.

Womanizing isn't as bad as this feeling at all. No wonder, former Axel didn't have an interest in magic. The capacity to hold mana and to have strong pathways, it's best to train a spell at least once in a day. As a person who never trains, Axel felt like dropping down and sleep after one spell.

The wind blade flew towards the target as the target wooden puppet split in two between his torso and head. Well, it was a lucky shot after all. No enemy will stay stupidly at one place to wait for the chant and to get shot. As such, mages need to train regularly and need to shorten the chanting time. Mages usually took the time to use mana correctly to shoot it out.

The magic pathways in human's body are complex and without the slightest care, the mage would get wounded easily. Thus, mages had to train spells to the point that until his own body recognize the spell without thinking. Mages usually took all the time they have to choose right and practical spells. After all, they won't live forever to learn all the spells. They won't also go to such an extent to learn all. It isn't practical at all.

Remembering correct pathways to use is like a bad student who didn't remember the correct equation to solve math problems so they had to memorize it. In solving maths, remembering equation can solve problems. But in using magic, you had to remember every small and tiny pathway to use it skillfully. The destructive and powerful spells took even more time.

Will enemy gives you the time to use your spell leisurely? Of course not. Therefore, the spells mages use need to be practical and quick. Even those high ranking mages take more time to learn low tier spells than one high tier spell. What's the point of knowing a spell if you can't use it?

Axel stays at home obediently to train his only spell, Wind Blade. After exhausting mana, he would train footwork of his former world. The footwork is 'Drafting Steps'. This footwork is used to dodge attacks with minimal movements while borrowing the momentum of the enemy.

Relearning the footwork so that he would have a tiny more chance to survive in this world. Mages are also skilled fighters. They had to train martial skills to not die while casting spells. If 10% of the population is made up of mages, then 50% are warriors. Calling Warriors can be considered wide-ranged. In Warriors, contains Knights, Swordsman, and all kinds of weapon users. In that 50 %, 10% mages before are also included.
