The spell Egneous erupted from the cave. Making rings of dark smoke from its mouth way above the clear blue sky.
They were now at the surface, but Ned had little to no recollection of how he managed to get there. He had his back on a tree, bleeding from his eyes and nose. His limbs shaking. The magical item, Silk Road, wore out its black color to pale sickly-looking skin. All the color and protection it offered to Ned lost its value as soon as Ned had no mana left to exhaust.
Ned lurched with his ass, hoping to move at least a good distance to his left where Su'ayun was lying flat on the dry ground but only managed to move a little closer. Only enough for him to reach her hand.
Ned let out a sigh of relief once he managed to touch her hands. She was alive, somehow. No more scales on her skin. She was pale as snow, and her breathing was labored.
"I-I'm fine," Su'ayun managed to speak. Her eyes closed.
