Claire ran a hand down the side of her face in exasperation. Alex didn't even know how to lie so the concept of making things up that fit the situation wouldn't make sense to him.
"Of course you aren't my boyfriend! I couldn't tell them you were a family member because they know I don't have any still alive. If I wanted you to be able to stay in my room to prevent me from getting killed in my sleep, I had to tell them you were because male and female friends don't share rooms."
Oh, she was digging such a deep hole for herself. She was going to have to answer so many uncomfortable questions now.
Alex frowned, mulling this over. "Why?"
"It's just not a thing that people do. I really can't explain it. Opposite gender siblings can technically share rooms but they usually don't for privacy reasons. The only reason a man and woman would need to share a room is if they were dating or married."
"But I have shared a room with you before."
