One didn't want to answer that. He was afraid of being sent back. He had finally gotten out and was getting his questions answered so freely! How could he possibly give that up so soon when it was all he ever wanted?
Frank seemed to sense his reluctance. "Okay, different question. Where have you been staying?"
"I have been in the shed out back for the past four days," he admitted.
He laughed again and slapped his knee. "Well, I'll be! Four whole days and I never noticed a thing until I heard the thump outside and went to go investigate. But what about your parents?"
"I don't have any."
Frank stopped laughing. "Okay then, who are your guardians?"
"Do you mean the trainers? Because I don't like them. They punish me for asking questions. I won't tell you who they are," One said defensively.
"Trainers? How about this, One…if you tell me where you came from and how you ended up in my backyard, I promise I won't send you back."
