On Monday morning after Ethan left for school Alex realized belatedly that he still hadn't taken Claire on a proper date. What kind of boyfriend did that make him?
He needed to do better if he wanted to keep her happy. Their nights and weekends were usually pretty busy but what about now? They could do some sort of activity and then go to lunch even if it was more casual.
"Claire, do you want to go on a date right now?" he asked as they sat side by side on the couch.
She was currently reading a new chapter of a comic on her phone that barely updated but looked up at him with a smile. "Sure! It's been a while since we got to do something alone. Let me finish this then we should go get dressed."
They were both still in their pajamas because it was easier to get Ethan out the door and to the bus stop that way. It wasn't like they had to leave the house for it; the stop was right down the street and he always met up with the neighbor kids to walk together.
