Chapter 137 - Poor Guy

Ray sighed. His wife's heart was as deep as an ocean. She had always been invested in the well-being of total strangers and cried at sob stories on the internet. 

Heather was as steely as she was soft though. If someone needed her help, she could shut off her emotions and get the job done. That was an important quality as a nurse because her cases weren't always pretty. 

Sometimes she broke down crying about something that happened at work but it was always after the kids were asleep. She managed to hold things off until she had time to deal with them. Ray had been on the receiving end of many tears since they had been together. 

"We can't save everyone, honey. You can fulfil your desire to help the Numbers by being there for Alex, which you obviously intend to do already," he pointed out as he rubbed her back. 

Heather sniffled. "He's only one person though."
