The system started to explain again why he was picked but the icy-blue cat quickly tuned the voice out and started to look at his surroundings more carefully now that he wasn't in constant pain.
The forest actually wasn't all that different from the ones back on Earth with tall green grass, humongous trees, and small bugs shuttling about. It just seemed more...dangerous? It may have been the cat's [Enhanced senses] screwing with him but the very forest felt like it wanted him dead and he didn't like it.
Pushing that thought away, he turned back to more pressing matters. How the hell was he going to survive in this place. The forest's name was the Monster Forest for crying out loud! The voice even said that there were monsters nearby, and it also said that he was weaker than some plants in the forest! Which, first of all, rude, second of all, how strong are those plants in the first place? What? Can they shoot some acid or whatever fantasy bull-
He suddenly cut off his rant when he remembered those carnivorous plants back on Earth. If those flesh-eating plants were here in a world where there are monsters, he doesn't want to know what they evolved to.
The cat suddenly shook his head, he was getting more and more off-topic, he needed a plan to at least get through the night and not get eaten by some carnivorous plants whichhavenoplaceinthatcategoryinthefirstplacelikewhyyoudon'tevenhaveamouththeotherplantsgetbyfinewithouteating-

First order of business: shelter to get through the night.
The sun looked to be right above the cat so he only had a few hours to find a good place to hide for the night. Water can come later. He highly doubts that the branch he climbed up on will be a good shelter. It was too close to the ground and the canopy was nonexistent which would not do well for blocking out a surprise rainfall or hiding from some bird who saw his bright ass coat.
No seriously, why did whoever gave him this body choose a cat with a snow-white coat to be his vessel in a place where there's no snow. They could've even chosen one with white spots and he wouldn't complain but nooo, they just had to give him a coat that screams 'Come eat me!'
Sighing he asks the voice, "Do I have anything to help me? Maybe a special ability? Anything."
The voice said what the cat thought it would say, "No, but since ⬛⬛⬛ is so merciful, go towards the setting sun to find human civilization."
"That...is actually helpful...if I get through the night."
Giving a short huff, the cat jumped down off of the branch after confirming nothing was going to immediately eat him and darted off into the undergrowth.
His [Enhanced senses] helped him avoid most of the dangers in the Monster Forest but it wasn't omnipotent. It was only lv.1 so he still had to be careful just in case something that didn't immediately trigger the skill snuck up on him.
Which would be extremely bad since every single animal (and even some plants) he came across looked dangerous to some extent. He was pretty sure he saw a squirrel with a spiked tail at one point. The tail absolutely weighed more than the squirrel's body weight which definitely wasn't supposed to be possible but he didn't want to find out how.
Unfortunately, he started getting fatigued after hours of running and sneaking around every animal he came across which led him to let down his guard at the worst possible moment.
As the day was slowly coming to an end, the cat finally found a suitable place where he could sleep the night. It was a small den that was along the bottom of a cliff between a boulder and the cliff wall. It was dry, it had protection from the environment and other predators, it was a few minutes walk to a stream, and most importantly, it was abandoned.
Relieved he found shelter and didn't need to risk camping out unprotected throughout the night, the cat crept his way toward the river to get a drink of water.
Grumbling to himself, "I hate this so much, this is the most I've ever ran in a single day. Why couldn't I've just gone to heaven? I was looking forward to seeing my wife again, not being forced to run a marathon on all fours!" Shaking away his thoughts, he dipped his head into the river to drink some water.
Drinking in the glorious cold water, he was interrupted when he heard a soft rustling behind him. Snapping his head back to look, he nearly fainted right there.
Two brown eyes glinted menacingly in the undergrowth behind him.
If the cat had more time to figure out what he was looking at, he would've seen that it was in the shape of a bear from Earth. The bear-monster's coat was this shimmery maroon color and its long claws and teeth were serrated in such a way that it would rip flesh out painfully.
...It also stood on two legs which was the main reason the cat was so scared.
But since he just glanced at the dark silhouette, the only thing he saw was an old scar across its stomach before he started to run away.
The cat sprinted away with all his might but the monster was faster than him and managed to leap on him with a single jump. He was barely safe because he sprang to the side at the last second.
But that safety only lasted for a moment before he was violently thrown/swatted into a tree. The world went white for a second as all he could feel was the agonizing pain from the monster's claws and the impact from the hard tree to his soft cat body.
Gasping from the pain, he opened his eyes and saw a small chunk of his body suddenly gone.
Blood oozed onto his white coat. Thick blobs of blood plopped onto the green grass. His side was numb.
Ears flat against his head and his fur puffed up, he looked up in terror as the monster prowled toward him.
He was going to die.
He was going to die. (it hurts)
He was going to be eaten alive.
He was- (oh god it hurts)
He couldn't move. (why does it hurt so much)
