On the other side, somewhere in France.
Elijah was silent for a while, lost in his own thoughts. He looked at Lily with gentleness, the woman who was oblivious to his stares but was instead, focused on filling her stomach.
Even while stuffing her mouth with food, she was still very elegant in her manner. Her hair, resembling the color of an empty night sky, was naturally wavy and tied up while she ate, her smooth, pale skin the color of snow seemed to be as beautiful as white jade, pure and perfect. Her eyes were framed by perfectly long lashes that made the shimmering hazel look even lighter. He had admired her since their school time, yet she never cared about anything else in this world, other than food.
Even during her high school years, she was able to effortlessly capture the hearts and attention of many men. Many had confessed their undying love to her, but she always prevailed and remained loyal to her only love 'food'. Who would have thought that this frail looking woman could be a glutton. Nobody knew the reason behind her refusal to the proposals she rejected. Even though she always rejected them, those male classmates never stopped chasing her.
But Elijah was the only exception who knew the reason behind her every rejection. He knew she admired him back too, though secretly. She never for once in the whole world would have thought that Elijah already knew about it.
Once there spread a rumor during their school times that a girl from the next class, Kelie, had a crush on him and later they even started dating. But that speculation was crushed as fast as it came because everyone knew Elijah had an influential background and was very cold and reserved. The whole rumor made her angry like a crazy person and she started avoiding him. That was the time when he accidentally got hold of her personal diary and there she had revealed her emotions.
"Why aren't you eating? Here, have some Kobe beef. The chef must have spent a lot of time and energy into making these delicious dishes, we should finish them all!" Lily asked him in a loud tone. Hearing her voice Elijah snapped back to reality.
"Try the shiitake mushroom stir-fried with spinach and cauliflower, it's delicious and good for your malnourished body." She revealed a mischievous smile, treating him more like she was making his fun. His body was well maintained from daily exercise with broad shoulders and firm built muscles, yet this stupid lady was calling him malnourished.
Elijah dug into his food and laughed. "You were hogging the food so much, I was too scared to snatch food from you."
"Oh... c'mon I am not a foodie!" As soon as these words left her mouth, she lowered her head.
'Augh! How could I be so stupid?' She thought to herself. Then she raised her head to take a look at Elijah, who reacted as if he didn't hear what she said just now.
"For sure. You are a glutton!" Elijah mumbled beneath his voice.
She gasped. "What did you say just now?!" 'Why, this twat!'
Elijah lifted his head up to meet her glaring eyes. He bit his lower lip to stop the urge to laugh at her face. He innocently blinked his eyes at her and questioned back.
"What did I say? I was just praising you, nothing else."
"Elijah, I heard you very well. You just called me a glutton." She puffed her cheeks in anger and was still throwing daggers at him.
"Fool. How could you call yourself a glutton? Just look at you, how thin you are? You should eat more." He finished talking and filled her plate with some peeled shrimp and scooped rice for her.
She felt as if he wronged her, and wanted to ask him again but looking at his deep eyes, she cancelled it. She lowered her head and dug into her plate with full interest.
After finishing their meal Elijah and Lily were planning to drive near the beach but then she realized that the sky has already turned dark. She turned to look at Elijah who was on the call.
"Tell them I am busy for two days and the meeting can be held later." With these words he hung up the call and looked towards the woman beside him. She was staring at him for a while. He tapped on her forehead and asked her.
"What happened?" His question pulled Lily out of her thoughts. She gazed towards the sky and replied softly.
"The sky has already turned dark. I think we should return back to the villa."
He entangled her fingers with his before pulling her towards the car and spoke in a mused tone.
"Are you worried that I can accomplice with a gangster and would try to abduct you".
"I am not worthy, not even a cent worthy." She scoffed before her eyes turned gentle as she looked at their entangled fingers.
Hearing her response made his face darkened. But quickly he regained his normal vibe before putting his hand on her shoulders and tightening them.
"Who dares to think like that about my woman? Give me his name and I will drown him in money. He won't be able to imagine how worthy you are for me." His words made her blushed as a soft giggle came out of her mouth before they both started laughing.
After realising what he actually said earlier, the meaning behind his words, her expression turned stormy as she quickly turned her head towards the beside her and asked him.
"When did I become your woman? You did not even formally ask me." She complained with a flustered expression.
He looked at her adoring face before smiling and replying gently.
"But we are married already. So you are my woman."
"No you have to propose to me nicely. Do you understand?"
Looking at her adoring and pouting face, how could he tease her more. So at the end he just decided to stop teasing her head.
"Okay as you say your highness!" He then patted her head like a little kitty and stopped himself from ruffling her hair.
The pair headed towards their car as a mild shower had already started to pour down. He quickly helped her to get into the passenger seat, before turning to get on to the other side of the car, to the driver seat.
Later the car drove onto the highway while soft music was playing inside.
