Chapter 2 - The Great War

The world had changed over the years, man became more aware of the world, but each grew separate into different villages. The gods questioned about how man knew what to do and how they didn't rely on the gods anymore. But Skruim knew this was a beginning of a new era.

Eheia asked her faun, '' what has happened?''.

The faun replied with a shallow voice, '' During the previous war Skrium had given the humans the power of alar but know this it will start a war.''. Eheia called a meeting with the gods. Each one sat at the table with their creatures beside them.

Asalvo asked in a calm voice, '' Eheia why did you call this meeting?''

Eheia responded in an angered voice, " The human world has been tampered by Skrium and with this he known it was a crime to give humans the power of alar.''

Skrium replied in a dark voice," The humans were getting boring over the years and I wanted to change how their fate was meant to be."

Asalvo spoke in a calm voice, " Brother skruim you know it was wrong to help them and I will give you one more chance to make things right and I have a question for Eheia's faun."

Eheia's faun spoke quietly, " What do you want to ask lord Asalvo?"

Asalvo asked the faun, " what will the world be like in the next century?". The faun replied, " just know that a war is bound to happen and the separation of the gods."

Epnir whispered, " the separation of the gods?" with a confused look.

Eheia Replied, " whom will be the cause of the war?" the faun looked and gave no answer. The gods were confused and started turning on each other. The gods all stared at each other and wanted to know what other changes the gods had done in the human world.

A century went by and the gods still were cautious of each other keeping inventory of all their scrolls and ancient texts that contained spells, potion recipes and other magical qualities. Asalvo went down to earth to get a closer look and visited some of the small villages. Asalvo was happy with the humans but he looked deep into the souls of the humans and saw darkness inside their heart. By the time Asalvo was to head back to the heavens he spotted his sister Eheia and followed her to an abandoned building where she was giving an elixir of power to eight young orphans. Asalvo disappeared into the sky filled with rage and anger as he went back to his castle in the heavens. Epnir was watching everything from the shadows and as soon as he saw Asalvo leave he went inside the abandon building and talked to Eheia.

Epnir spoke in a quiet voice as he approached Eheia, " Hi sister what are you doing" Eheia turned around in shock.

Eheia spoke in a nervous tone, " I am not doing anything and why are you here brother?"

Epnir replied, " I was following brother Asalvo and he was furious that you were giving these children the elixir of power."

Eheia looked at Epnir and replied," I just want to help the humans just in case I die and there is no one to protect the humans in the future.".

Epnir looked deeply at Eheia and shook his head in disappointment. Epnir started walking away when Eheia stopped him.

Eheia spoke to Epnir in a sadden voice, " Brother I am scared and worried that we all could die. Because my faun approached me after the last meeting and said my master is going to die in the war. With all of this I fear and worry of the humans because the beasts are getting ready for a massive battle."

Epnir was in shock the gods will no longer walk among the heavens and earth.

Skrium was planning his army of beasts from the deep and dark places of the human world he called upon the ferocious creatures called the Nitros. The Nitros were the feared and deadly throughout the whole land, but many people thought the gods created them to keep balance in the human world but never did the gods create the Nitros. As Skrium approached the nitro king but all the Nitros knew of the upcoming war and wondered why would the fierce and wicked skorm have come to them.

The Nitro king spoke in a disoriented and screeching voice, "why have you come to my village if you want to kill me, I am not going to die without a fight."

Skrium spoke in a dark voice to the king, "I wish not to fight you but to help you in the future, all I ask if you wish to bargain with me to become even more powerful in exchange for something."

The king looked at Skrium with an interested look, "what is your price oh lord Skrium?".

Skrium laughed so evil and dark it made the Nitros shiver in fear and he replied, "just know this power will claim your sanity and soul, but in return I grant you the power of necromancy."

The king was intrigued by Skrium 's deal that the king had agreed to Skrium terms. Skrium grinned and asked the Nitro king to call upon his subjects. Skrium chanted a dark and powerful spell that shook the very earth underneath them. The Nitro king screeched and fell to the floor, along with his subjects. Their bodies were covered by a black and fiery smoke, slowly their bones changed shape. Their bodies were cloaked with a black robe that was singed and torn. Skrium laughed a maniacal laugh as the nitro changed into their evil form.

Meanwhile Asalvo was in his castle thinking if his brothers and sister are planning against him. So, he called his wolf with a demanding voice, as his creature approached Asalvo. The god plucked nine white feathers from the white wolf, and he whispered a spell to the feathers. As the feathers flew from Asalvo's hands, the feathers changed into balls of light and formed crystals each one containing a djinn of great power. Asalvo hid these crystals into a leather pouch and stored them away in his pocket. Late at night Epnir was walking the night and thinking to himself, why are my siblings doing all this. Epnir thought all night and was approached by his dragon who was sad to see his master depressed.

The shadow dragon asked in a wispy voice," what is wrong master there is something on your mind that you seem very concerned".

Epnir replied with a silent whisper, "yes, my brothers and sisters are all focused on the war that I am nervous about it. But I am unsure if I should create an army."

The dragon replied in a shallow wispy voice, "you should master to carry on your legacy." Epnir nodded his head in approval. He created from the smoke and scales of his dragon thirteen assassins. Their insides were filled with black sand and smoke, but as the smoke seeped off them an armor of pitch-black metal covered their bodies. Epnir taught them the ways of the shadows and how to manipulate their movement so they can be undetected. But Epnir still had a heavy burden on his heart that no amount of any magic or potions can remove Epnir from this burden. Epnir told one of the assassins to hide all his spells and his prized necklace that grants the user an immortal life.

Two hundred years have passed on the winter solstice, the armies have multiplied over the years. Skruim's army grew to a hundred thousand, Eheia's grew to a hundred and twenty thousand, Epnir's army grew to a hundred and thirty thousand, but Asalvo 's army stayed the same. Asalvo was confident in the power of his djinns.

All armies gathered to a place where the four elements meet. Skrium came down from the south riding his mighty basilisk with his army along the fiery mountainside looking like lava and screeching a war cry as they approached the bottom, Epnir came from the east like a black fog in the sky on his dragon and where he landed was by a cave that his army poured out like smoke from a fire that has been put out, Eheia was coming from the west by sea on ships white as snow, as they approached the shore you see people cloaked with different colored robes, but they all had the same symbol on the hood. As Eheia's army got to the dock the people threw ramps on the dock and one by one they got off the ship. Asalvo came from the north riding his majestic wolf through the woods, all alone. Asalvo reached into his pocket and dropped the crystals on the ground. All of them shone in a bright flash of light and arose nine spirit beings each one having a tattoo of symbols. As the armies approached each other the moon was at its highest and the snow was starting to fall. The gods stopped their armies and approach one another.

Asalvo spoke first, "brothers and sister we mustn't fight let's end this madness." Skrium said "no I will not be a servant to your injustice." Eheia spoke softly "brothers calm down." Epnir spoke silently "we heard the faun say that there was a war and we might die." Skrium just turned and walked back to his army, Eheia started crying and ran to her army, Asalvo walked back mad at the betrayal of his family. Epnir was sadden that his family will never be the same.

As they all returned to their armies the moon shown a crimson red glow, making the snow blood red as it touched the ground. As they reached their armies, they looked at each other from the distance and gave the command to charge. Asalvo changed into a winged beast and flown down, but in the distance the faun spoke in a calm voice and said, "Armageddon has just begun."
