Doctor Vince muttered to himself with a shocked expression on his face.
"doctor is she..."
Before Nurse Stacy could continue, the hospital room door was opened from the outside with a click.
Mr. and Mrs. Swift entered and saw Doctor Vince beside Vivian holding her hands as if he was checking her pulse.
"is everything alright doc?" Mrs. Swift was the first to ask.
"Yes! Is she alright doctor?" Mr. Swift also asks.
"I…w…well she....you see…." Doctor Vince who didn't know how to tell them that their daughter is no more keeps stammering.
"What is it doc she is fine right?" Mrs. Swift ask again after seeing how Doctor Vince was finding it difficult to tell them what was happening with Vivian.
"Dear are you ok?" Mr. Swift who moves forward to Vivian's bed asks her while tapping her at the shoulder.
"dear look I have already prepared what you said you want and brought them here for you. so wake up now and eat till your heart fill" Mrs. Swift says when her husband was trying to wake Vivian.
"Am deeply sorry but she is no more". Said doctor Vince with a sad expression to the Swift couple.
Mr. Swift- "…"
Mrs. Swift "…"
They both were shocked at what Doctor Vince said.
"N-No! No! No! She can't be. She was fine earlier and even said she was hungry and asked me to prepare her favorite food for her so she must just be sleeping, you will see if I wake her up she is going to wake up right now." Shocked Mrs. Swift says with tears in her eyes.
"Dear wake up now come on! Please wake up! I know you were going to leave us any moment but not like this without saying goodbye. Please! Please! Wake up dear please..."
Mrs. Swift said and she sniffles quietly, tears threatening to spill from her eye
"Liz try to calm down please!" Mr. Swift who was trying to be strong said to his wife.
"CALM DOWN! YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN. SHE IS GONE MY BABY IS NO MORE AND YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN, YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN BUT MY BABY IS GONE." Sobbing Mrs. Swift yells at her husband.
"I know but we know this was going to happen whether we like it or not. We but know that." Mr. Swift said trying to get his wife to calm down.
"But she didn't even to us why? My poor baby? Why my girl?" Mrs. Swift said and the tears that welled up from deep inside coursed down her cheeks as she breaks down in her husband's arms.
"She didn't want to see us cry in front of her when she is dying. That was why she made leave earlier Liz, especially because she didn't want you to see her die in front of you, I mean look at you right now. Look at how much you are sobbing right now Liz, Vivian will never want to see you like this." Mr. Swift said to his wife who kept sobbing in his arms.
"That's why she did what she did Liz." He added.
"but she didn't even say goodbye to us at all." Mrs. Swift said whimpering.
"of course, she did remember yesterday when she told u we were the best parent ever and how she said she loves us both so very much and we both hugged her very tightly Liz. Remember that?" her husband said to her while still trying to comfort her.
"Hmmm." She said and nods at him.
"Am sorry for your lost". Doctor Vince said to them
"Thank you doc." They both reply to him in unison.
And Mrs. Swift left her husband's arms to go to Vivian's bed.
"She was an extraordinary young girl." He added.
Mrs. Swift smiled at his words while kissing her daughter's cheeks.
"Yes, she was. And docs thank you so much for always doing your best to take care of her." Mr. Swift replies and says.
Smiling at his words doctor Vince replies "It was my duty and like I said earlier she isn't just an extraordinary young girl but also strong and very good at heart."
"Yes! My baby was very strong and good at heart." Mrs. Swift says with her misty eyes. And tears split over and flowed down her face."
Mr. Swift saw his wife crying again and went to hug her tightly and they both lost themselves by looking at their daughter who is no more for the last time.
A solemn tear fell from Mr. Swift's cheeks.
"She asked me to tell you both something..." Nurse Stacy said to the couple who were busy looking at their daughter.
The voice of Nurse Stacy brought them back to their senses and they both turned to her direction after hearing what she said.
"Really! What did she say?" Mrs. Swift was the first one to ask.
"What did she say nurse?" this time it was Mr. Swift who ask.
"Please tell my parents I said I love them very much when they come back please!" That was what she said.
Nurse Stacy told them exactly what Vivian asked her to tell them when they return just the way she said while recalling it.
"Thank you." Mrs. Swift thanked her after she told them what Vivian's last words were.
"My condolences ma'am, Sir." Nurse Stacy said to them.
"Thank you, dear." Mr. Swift replies to her.
Looking at their daughter with affection in their eyes they say "And we both love you very much too dear." While smiling at her.
And tears drop from Mrs. Swift's eyes but this time she was more calmer than earlier and she didn't sob anymore, because she knows her baby girl won't want her to cry so much as she did earlier.
